A/N: i haven't uploaded in a while, but i came up with this!
i'm so so tired from school. i'm submitting my requirements late now. i had to sleep instead of cramming them because i did a worthless all-nighter that didn't even do anything.
i'm a mess rn. i came up with this because i needed comfort. i couldn't find that anywhere except in my OTPs.
hope you enjoy reading, i'm still editing this, if you could see.
Narrative perspective
Frost has been quite distant with Sandman lately. The reason? Frost feels terrible that he and Sandman haven't shared their first kiss yet.
Sandman said it was okay to "take things slow" if Frost wants to, but he's worried Sandman's getting bored of him. All the physical contact they do are just discreetly holding hands and leaning on each other's shoulders. They both just seem like a platonic couple. To Frost, at least.
Frost's worrying has been worsening. Grinch knows something's up, and Truck's getting inherent concern. Frost doesn't blame them, they practically raised him into the man he is now.
But, when Grinch knows something's up, he will not stop until he knows exactly what it is. Truck will ask him questions nonstop like a mother hen.
Those are other things Frost worries about. No one knows that he and Sandman are in a relationship. If anyone did, it'd be the end of them both.
Frost usually likes to stay up on the roof of the base to relax and watch people. But, now, he goes up there to think; to reflect on whatever happened.
That's where he is now.
No one can find him here. Except Sandman, of course. It doesn't matter how he climbs to get up there.
Frost lets his guard down on the roof. He knows that only Sandman would climb up there to see him.
Sandman was actually already up there, walking up to Frost. The latter was just too deep in thought to actually hear Sandman approach him.
Sandman took a seat beside Frost. He set an arm across Frost's shoulders, startling him.
"Oh...it's just you," Frost croaked, smiling at his commander.
Sandman smiled back, moving closer to Frost. The sergeant leaned in, embracing the warmth Sandman's body was giving off.
They stayed like this for a few minutes. Their breaths in a steady and slow motion, the warmth of each others' bodies battling the cold night's wind.
"Are you okay? You've been acting weird lately." Sandman asked, rubbing Frost's shoulder.
"Am I?" Frost chuckled, leaning in more.
"Yeah," Sandman responded.
Silence filled the air for a moment.
"Is there something wrong?" Sandman asked. "You avoided my question."
Damn.
Frost has no choice but to tell Sandman now.
"I- I'm worried you're getting bored of me because all we only do is- is cuddle and h- hold hands...and we haven't even had our first kiss yet…" Frost rambled, mumbling the last part.
"What was that?" Sandman teased, pulling away from the hug and looking at Frost.
"We…" Frost blushed, looking away, "haven'tevensharedourfirstkissyet-"
Sandman chuckled. "Could you repeat that?"
Frost glared at him, his cheeks tinted with a hue of red.
"Hey, I'm kidding, I heard you the first time." Sandman shrugged, ruffling Frost's hair. Frost shook his head to shake his boyfriend's hand off.
"I- I'm sorry," Frost apologised, "I sound stupid, I know I shouldn't worry about things like that…"
Sandman brought him in for another hug. "It's okay. I understand you."
Frost could only mumble a little things before he moved closer into Sandman.
"Sand-" Frost paused, "Mike," he continued. (A/N: 'Mike' is my headcanonned name for Sandman.)
Sandman hummed in response.
"C- can we…" Frost paused, thinking of his question carefully. "...kiss? L- like, now?"
Sandman turned his head to face his boyfriend.
"Of course, Derek." Sandman smirked, seeing Frost twitch once he said his actual name.
Frost hesitantly looked back up at Sandman.
"Whenever you're ready." Sandman smiled in assurance.
Frost stared into Sandman's grey orbs. He didn't seem impatient, since he was staring back.
"Can I hold your hand?" Frost asked, sounding like a child.
"Of course." Sandman smiled, taking Frost's hand in his, intertwining them.
Frost moved upwards, closer to Sandman's face, his grip tightening as he moved. He stopped when he was only mere centimeters away. He stared into Sandman's eyes, being captivated by them. Frost's hand relaxed.
"What's the matter?" Sandman asked, his hot breath falling on Frost's already warm face.
"I-" Frost stuttered, not being able to put his thoughts into words. "I...beautiful eyes…"
Sandman smirked. "Thanks. Yours look beautiful, too."
Frost blushed more, as he stared into Sandman's eyes once more.
"Are you just gonna stare into my eyes, or are you gonna kiss me?" Sandman chuckled.
"What?" Frost blinked, confused and distracted.
"Let me," Sandman said, closing the gap between him and Frost, giving the latter a short-but-sweet kiss.
Frost stayed perplexed as he watched Sandman pull away with a smile on his lips.
Realising what had happened, Frost immediately turned from human to a tomato.
"Aaaaaaaaaaa?" Was all Frost could say.
"Speechless?" Sandman teased.
Frost snapped out of his daze. "What? No!"
(You don't see it, but I keep misspelling while I write this part. My fingers get too excited lmao)
Sandman smiled at Frost.
Frost, who soon calmed down and composed himself, stared into Sandman's eyes again.
"Those eyes…" He muttered.
"Oh, don't get all romantic with the eye-stuff." Sandman cringed, jokingly.
"What?" Frost blurted, "No! I'm serious, I-"
What stopped him was Sandman staring back at him with a look in his eye.
Damn, those eyes.
Frost feels weird to think of it that way. He sees something in those eyes… It's a certain emotion.
"May I kiss you again?" Frost asked, excitedly.
Sandman nodded. "Of course."
Frost closed the distance between them, giving his boyfriend an equally short and sweet kiss.
"May I kiss you, this time?" Sandman asked. Frost nodded with a small smile on his face.
Sandman held both of Frost's hands and closed the distance between them again. Frost closed his eyes, kissing back. They stayed like this for a long while, lips locked together like two puzzle pieces.
When they were finally out of breath, they pulled away.
"How was that?" Sandman asked.
"I…" Frost trailed, touching his lips, "...nice."
Sandman smiled, wrapping an arm over Frost's shoulder.
They didn't say anything and just cuddled there until they needed to go down.
The end.
Bonus:
Frost walked into the practice range and smiled at Sandman who passed by.
Sandman went somewhere else, to his dismay.
Entering the range, Frost started choosing which weapon to use. He noticed Grinch enter the range after him.
"Hey, Grinch." Frost greeted, not turning his head.
"Damn it, just when I thought I got'cha." Grinch pouted.
"You'll never get me," Frost sang, picking a handgun to practice with instead.
Grinch took a sniper rifle. "Hmm, guess not now."
Frost almost panicked when he heard that.
Instead, he nervously scoffed. "Only in your dreams, Grinch."
Grinch shook his head.
Frost walked away to grab some noise-cancelling headphones.
"So, Sandman, huh?" Grinch smirked.
Frost's cheeks turned red. "T- the fuck? That's gay."
"You avoided the question." Grinch retorted. Frost squirmed.
Frost has an issue with avoiding questions when he's lying. He's usually a good liar, but he avoids questions too much.
"Don't tell anyone, please." Frost requested, not facing Grinch.
Grinch smiled. "Of course, you're my best bud. I wouldn't snitch on you, even if I had to."
Frost gave a thumbs up. "Thanks, man."
"No problemo." Grinch replied.
The actual end.
