23 year olds Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy were New York's super powered masked vigilantes and had been for 8 years. They had been best friends since forever and remained so even when Peter pursued his passion in science and inventing and Gwen her passion in music and drumming. Their feelings towards eachother turned romantic when they entered High School even though it took a little into their college days for them to take it. Going as friends to their prom only caused them to go into mental denial. Gwen's bandmates in the Mary Janes had thoughts for months that they were together and didn't believe it when Gwen told them.
Their lives had changed when they were on a high school field trip to the Alchemax lab and Gwen spent the time looking amused at Peter's excited face as he looked like a kid at Disneyland. However mocking them was the tall jock bully Eugene 'Flash' Thompson who was a star on the football team and had been held back twice (once on his current high school year and once in elementary school) and was only on the field trip for extra credit. He was pushing Peter and taunting him and Gwen stepped in front of Peter glaring and mouthing off at Flash (she was unafraid to verbally fire back at Flash) and Flash had angry pushed pas the both of them causing them to fall off stairs and crash into workers carrying genetically altered spiders. They fell into unconsciousness and were bitten by one of the same type each.
Flash had panicked as he tried to rejoin the group and play innocent when the teacher, class and guide came over after hearing the noise; a worker called for an ambulance and another angrily informed the teacher about what Flash had done having witnessed what had happened.
Peter and Gwen woke up to see themselves in a hospital to see Peter's Uncle Ben and Aunt May along with Gwen's parents and brothers looking relieved. Soon they were able to leave but found themselves stronger, faster and more agile than before with a sense that seemed to go off when they were in danger.
Plus they could climb up walls to the amazement and thought that the spider bites must have done this to them; one weekend at a park they were found by an angry Flash. For his stunt and with the warnings that he had on his record Flash had gotten himself expelled with his new school having banned him from extracurricular activities and he was on academic probation with weekend and after school detention. Gwen's dad had gotten a restraining order on Flash against Gwen and Peter and Flash would be going to a juvenile centre if he stepped out of line and or violated the restraining order.
He wanted to give them a serious beating but to the surprise of all 3 Peter and Gwen actually easily sidestepped all of his attempted hits and sent him back with their own. Humiliated Flash swore to tell everyone of what they did but Peter pointed it out to him that not only would he be ruining any credibility that he had left if word got out of this to his former posse but he would have to admit that he violated the restraining order. Realising that he truly was at a dead end Flash was forced to retreat grumbling.
Peter and Gwen wondered about using their powers for show business with Gwen especially thinking about being a novelty act of drumming on the roof. They had made costumes with masks (with Gwen's being black and white and Peter's being red and blue) and even tried out twin wrist web-shooters that Peter invented that shot out a web formula that he had made which could be used offensively or swinging around in the sky.
They came across a robber but feeling like scared kids they let him pass thinking it would be up to the police to catch him; however the robber had carjacked a nearby car with the driver fighting back and protesting. Desperate with the police coming in quick the robber had shot the driver and drove off with Peter and Gwen open mouthed and shocked to realise that it was Peter's Uncle Ben.
Still in their costumes they web slinged to the car and caught the man shoving him to the cops to make a double citizen's arrest. They changed clothes and got home to see George's dad among the officers who had to give the bad news to the crying Aunt May.
They had decided to use their costumes and powers to fight crime and save lives thinking of how their inaction and hesitation caught Uncle Ben (who was basically an honourable uncle to Gwen) his life. They became the duo of Spider-Man and Spider-Woman.
The worked through this together as they kept their identities secret and it made them late for a few classes which of course got them lectured from parental figures. They had support but of course criticism from a fair amount of New York for their vigilantism and property damage with supervillains including newspaper mogul turned New York City Mayor J. Jonah Jameson and Gwen's dad Captain George Stacy who was heading the Spider-Man manhunt in the police. Gwen actually found this funny and added that it was another thing of hers for her dad to not approve of since he thought that she could be doing more of her future than with music.
They had managed to get together in college and were now living in an apartment together as Peter was working for one of his science heroes Max Modell at Horizon Labs and the Mary Janes were growing traction as a band.
In costumes they had unmasked and were overlooking the city; they had taken care of a plot by Doc Ock as well as took down the Shocker. "Gwen... Do you want to have a talk about our relationship... I never want to break up but..." Peter asked as Gwen looked his way.
"Peter, when we let the Cat into our relationship we both agreed that it would be fine if we wanted it to be an open one. So tell me who do you want to pursue; She-Hulk since we have the pin ups plastered on our wall? I have seen the looks that MJ has been giving you and I am fine with it; she has grown from the diva she was in high school..." Gwen told him smiling and Peter was flustered but shook his head. Gwen's laughing face became a stunned one as Peter was on a knee presenting his mother's wedding ring that his Aunt May had given him.
He didn't even get to start his question as Gwen was squealing yes accepting it and embraced; however they were stunned to see the beautiful and attractive white haired Felicia Hardy aka the reformed cat burglar the Black Cat in her special eye mask and black catsuit. She who was about their age had powers of strength, agility which came from a serum that her father had tried before she was conceived and some gadgets inherited from her father the previous Black Cat.
They had first encountered Felicia doing a jewellery robbery when they had started college and she easily could evade and embarrass them, it was even worse as she was seductive and flirty to the both of them which worked too well. It made Gwen more aggressive towards her and wanting to bring her down more.
One time they had been knocked out by Felicia and they were red in the face at the state that Felicia had left them in; their masks were raised to their noses, their arms were handcuffed behind eachother's waist and their feet were handcuffed together. They could easily break out but it was so embarrassing especially when they found kissing lipstick marks on their necks.
However that incident actually helped them confront eachother's feelings and got them together. Felicia ended up helping against dangerous villains and they ended up convincing her to turn her life around as they took down a dangerous threat and the Spiders' contact in the PDNY managed to help score a pardon for Felicia.
Peter and Gwen began to trust Felicia more and with some talk between them (with Gwen having grown out of her initial aggressive annoyance of Felicia) had decided to trust Felicia with their identities and unmask. Felicia admitted that she had been crushing on both Spiders for years and would fear that she would not like the people behind the masks but had accepted seeing the cute nerd and blonde underneath the masks.
Peter and Gwen had realised their feelings for Felicia and she was welcomed into their new relationship with Felicia saying she was happy to be with the top couple in all of New York. They would invite Felicia to their apartment and Felicia invited them to hers.
Right now Peter was taken aback seeing Felicia and Gwen was glaring at her for ruining the moment as Felicia walked sultry up to the both of them. "Oh come on, don't let my presence spoil this moment. I wanted to be an audience but let me say congratulations and don't worry about your bachelor and bachelorette parties; I will take care of both of them." Felicia said as Gwen started to smirk.
"How about you come to our place and you help us celebrate to make up for ruining the happiest moment of my life." Gwen asked as Felicia returned the smirk and Peter was happy with this. "Just to let you know Felicia since i know that you liked to steal jewellery that aren't yours; this ring is mine so please understand that." Gwen said as she and Peter put their masks back on as the trio sneaked through the window of Peter and Gwen's apartment.
The next morning Felicia had woken up first and relucantly removed herself from the bed but arranged for Peter and Gwen to be embracing eachother as she got herself dressed. She smiled at the sight of them as so far the previous day was her happiest day in her life. She had gotten positive test results from the doctor's and had come up to the Spiders to share the happy news only to intrude on some more good news.
She will tell them later and let the report be an engagement present but for now she will let the lovers have their time together.
I admit that while I do like the idea of Peter and Gwen being together as Spider-Man and Spider-Woman (I will NEVER accept that stupid Ghost-Spider codename) I am on the fence about them acting as Spider people together. It was a problem I had with the Marvel's Spider-Man cartoon with too many Spider people (not helped with how the supporting cast could act sometimes). Plus Phillipe363 used the idea in a recent Anti-Irondad story which I am for.
