Hello there! So this is a little out of character for me. For those of you who do not know me, what I mean is that this is the first 'one-shot' I have ever written. Besides that fact, I feel this is a lot more stylistic than anything else I have ever written as well.

Recently I have been enjoying a handful of fics following what Ahsoka and Rex went on to do after the season 7 finale and decided that I would go ahead and give it a shot myself.

All that aside, please enjoy!

Squeak.

Swish.

Ahsoka sighed as a gush of steaming, hot water rushed over her naked body. Goose bumps arose across her burnt orange skin in response to the water's warm embrace.

She stood motionless as the small droplets planted tender kisses across her entire body. This was the first shower she had been given the opportunity to take since the order had been issued.

Since all hell had broken loose.

Even three days later she could not fully wrap her head around what was happening. At first she had convinced herself that it was all just a dream. A terrible dream that she would eventually wake up from, but had it truly been a dream she surely would have awakened by now.

Of all the ways she had imagined that the war would end, the Jedi having their own troops turn against them was the furthest from her mind. She never blamed the clones, however. She understood that it was not their own intentions. They were merely victims to their programming.

Flesh and blood? No doubt.

Unique in character as individuals? Certainly.

Their humanity was never in question, but despite how personable each and every one of them were, they were still susceptible to the influence of the bio-chemical chip that had been implanted in their brains at birth.

There was no greater example of the clone's resilience than that of Fives. He had gone above and beyond his call of duty and had essentially pulled back the curtain on the Sith plot to destroy the Jedi and unravel the Republic. But his efforts were unfortunately made in vain as he was given the same treatment from the Jedi High Council that she had been given during her trail. It pained her all the more to know that in the end the entire order had to pay for the error of council.

Her heart ached within her as she reminisced over all the times she and her men had spent in one another's company.

They had laughed together.

They had cried together.

They had fought together.

These men had become more than soldiers to her- they were her family. Not only had she come to know them all by name, but she knew their stories, their interests, their fears, the things that they liked to do when given a leave-she knew everything about them. She loved them.

Her mind abruptly jumped to one clone in particular.

Rex.

Nothing broke her heart more than the pain she had seen in his eyes aboard that fallen cruiser. Sure those men were her family, but to Rex they were brothers.

Rex had been by her side since the very beginning and had, in certain ways, grown closer to her than anyone else had amidst the duration of the war. She had known from the moment they met on Christophsis that he was special, and he had certainly proven it over the years.

She sighed again as she looked down to her breasts. The water poured over them like a river flowing through the valley of two bulging mountain peaks. It was almost as if she was realizing for the first time just how much she had grown since then.

But her mind could not go back to Christophsis without one other very special person plaguing her memory.

Anakin.

Since the purge she had reached out with the force many times hoping to find him reaching back to her. But with every unanswered call her hope was crippled all the more.

Her master, the hero with no fear, the commander and chief of the 501st, the chosen one- her brother, Anakin, was dead.

The tidal wave of emotions she had been fighting for the past 72 hours finally broke through her barriers as she collapsed against the shower wall. She had cried when leaving the order, but today she wept at the loss of her best friend.

She had remained strong in front of Rex when he was in need of her strength, but she had denied her true feelings long enough. The more tears she cried the harder they flowed.

For the first time in her entire life, Ahsoka Tano was all alone with no one left to act as a guiding voice in her life.

Anakin, Obi-wan, Plo, Mace, Yoda- they all were gone.

She slid down the shower wall pulling her knees tightly against her chest. Everything she had ever known had gone up in flames leaving only ashes to remain.

The Clone Wars were lost, the Jedi were dead, and her heart was broken.

After some time she stood to her feet again and composed herself. As much as it hurt she knew that the only way to keep going was to continue to move forward one step at a time.

She turned off the water and pulled the curtain back before reaching for her towel and drying herself off thoroughly. She paused standing in silence as she inhaled deeply. A cool draft of air wrapped around her body encasing her in chills and causing her nipples to stand erect, but her discomfort went unnoticed as one question remained lingering in her mind.

"Where do I go?"

The question was not foreign to her. She had asked it many times as she system hopped from planet to planet over the past 3 days.

When she left the order she had at least been welcome to stay on Coruscant, but that was hardly an option now. She had been avoiding larger systems and had instead opted for staying on small moons and other like territories. This had proven to be a challenge, however, given that presently her only option for travel was taking public transports.

But if there was one thing for certain, for the time being staying on the move was key to her survival.

She shook her head escaping her train of thought. She was uncertain what her next move would be, but at least now she had freshened up.

She slid on her tights and clasped her bra behind her back. She pulled her dress like shirt over her head and pushed her combat boots onto her feet before wrapping her coat tightly around her.

Carlac was coldest during the summer.
