This is my first of hopefully, many stories to come. Please like and comment and feel free to PM me with prompts for stories you may have. I do not and will not ever write slash. I do not own the A-Team or any characters mentioned in the show or movie. That being said, shall we begin?

Be Careful What You Wish For.

Chapter I.

Pike smiled as he went over the plans for his next mission. While it wasn't going to be easy to pull off, he would finally be able to stick it to that damn Hannibal Smith and his weird band of misfits. He slammed the file down on his desk as he waved over one of his men, looking around to make sure their tent was still secure. Those damn Rangers liked to spy on him and his men from time to time.

"Do we have everything in place?" Pike asked, a slight edge to his voice.

"Yes sir." The man replied, his emotions hidden behind the dark pair of sunglasses he wore. Pike smiled as he put the mission file back in the secret compartment hidden in his desk, locking it as he got up and exited his tent.

"Perfect," he replied, an evil glint in his eye. "Then at this time tomorrow, the A-Team will be off on their mission, completing ours for us at the same time. We won't even have to leave the security of the base." Pike laughed as he left the tent, turning back to give the man another order. "Call your "friend," tell him to be ready…and tell him what will happen if he messes up." Without another word, Pike donned his sunglasses and turned to make his way across the compound.

"AWWWW! Now come on Faceman! Don't be a grumpy Gus!!" Whined the energetic pilot, as he paced back and forth through their shared barracks.

"I know we can't throw your type of party, but we can still have some fun!" Face rolled his eyes at the captain, feeling especially annoyed and irritable today.

"Murdock…We're gonna be in the middle of enemy territory for who knows how long, so we probably won't be back in time to celebrate his birthday on his birthday...Or didn't you pay attention to the briefing last night?? Also, how do you still have so much energy? We were up practically all night?" Murdock laughed as he made another lap around the tent.

"I'm just excited for his birthday is all!" Murdock answered, looking at his watch for the millionth time that day.

"Why you keep looking at your watch fool?" B.A growled as he entered the tent, giving the pilot a murderous glare as he sat on the edge of his bed.

"I am just waiting on the mail to arrive if ya must know Bosco!" Murdock retorted, rolling his eyes as if that were obvious. Face huffed and leaned back on his pillows, trying his best to ignore the hyper captain.

"Faceman! Wanna come with?" Murdock asked excitedly, leaning over so his face was in the lieutenants' line of sight.

"Murdock, Hannibal told us all to get some sleep before we leave tonight. You do know you're coming with us, right? You remember what we're doing?" Face asked, raising an eyebrow and feeling himself growing frustrated with the energetic man in front of him.

"I'll get some sleep after I check the mail again Face." Murdock huffed, "I wanna make sure it's safe before we go!" Face rolled his eyes as he watched Murdock bound over to B.A.'s side of the room to talk to the grumpy mechanic.

"Hey, Bosco!" Murdock beamed, as he crossed the room and sat on the edge of the other man's bed.

"Hey what sucka? You better not be comin over here to bother me!"

The pilot was unfazed by the rough response and continued his inquiry.

"You excited bout your birthday, Bosco??" Murdock asked, a large smile plastered on his face.

"No!" B.A. replied. "Why should I be??" Murdock feigned a look of shock. Removing his hat and placing it over his heart.

"Because it's another year of life!" The captain exclaimed replacing his hat and leaping to his feet. "It's another year to appreciate the good in yer life, and a chance to be with the ones you care about! Come on B.A. what ya gonna wish for huh! huh!?"

"Uhh...Murdock. Isn't that something you do when you blow out the candles? And I'm also pretty sure you're not supposed to tell anyone what you wish for." Face answered, throwing a pillow over his head, not really caring about the captain's response. Murdock laughed as he turned back to face B.A.

"Don't worry Bosco," he replied, leaning down to give the sergeant a lopsided grin. "That rule don't apply to crazy people! You can tell me your wish, I promise I won't tell!" he said with a wink. B.A growled as he reached up and grabbed the pilot by the collar.

"I want peace and quiet!" He yelled. "I don't want none of your jibber-jabber, or any of your crazy singin!" he yelled, releasing the pilot's collar and laying back on his bed, lacing his hands behind his head.

Murdock chuckled as he turned and made his way to the door. "You're gonna change your mind when you see what Santa brought you for your birthday!" He replied with a wink as he left the tent, narrowly missing the pillow the sergeant threw his way.

"Man…Hannibal should have left that crazy-ass fool back in Mexico." B.A. huffed. "Then I wouldn't be afraid to fly, we wouldn't have to deal with all that jiber-jabber and this mission would be…less crazy." B.A. grumbled under his breath as he turned on his side, watching the pilot skip away as he made his way to the mail tent.

"You know he does all that to annoy you B.A." Face responded from across the room.

"Yeah?" B.A retorted. "Well, it's workin! That fool is lucky I don't wring his neck some days."

Face sighed and was about to respond when an explosion rocked the tent and sent both men diving for cover. Explosions, screaming and the sound of gunshots could be heard throughout the camp. Face and B.A. locked eyes and one thought crossed their minds, Murdock!

They each grabbed the weapons they had stashed in their lockers and raced to the door, each man ducking low as it opened.

They exited quickly and dove behind some wooden crates stacked beside the tent.

"You see anything B.A?" Face yelled as another explosion went off not far from their position, sending dust and debris flying everywhere.

"I don't see a damn thing, man!" B.A. screamed, looking around to find the source of the explosion.

"Let's see if we can find Hannibal and Murdock!" Face yelled again, dropping to his knees to peek around the corner. There was smoke everywhere, but the gunfire seemed to be moving away from them. Giving the lieutenant a faint sense of relief.

They slowly made their way towards the mail tent, the receding sounds of weapons fire and the cries of wounded men calling out for help turning their veins to ice.

Then, it felt like the world fell silent. The explosions stopped, the gunfire ceased, even the cries for help fell silent. An eerie quiet settled over the camp, causing both men to become uneasy. A green hazy smoke settled around them as they continued their search for their missing teammate, each man silent in the horror of his own thoughts. Both wondering what had happened to their missing brother, who had attacked them, and why.

Face was pulled from his dark thoughts as they neared the bases mail tent; or, what was left of the mail tent. He heard B.A. swear under his breath as they both ran to the remains of the still smoking structure, frantically calling out for their missing captain. A faint voice caught the lieutenant's attention and he turned to find the source of the noise. He felt his heart jump to his throat and time seemed to slow as he spotted their missing pilot laying on the ground about fifteen feet away from the destroyed building.

Face ran towards the fallen pilot and dropped to his knees; hearing Bosco stop behind him. Murdock was laying on his back gasping for air. Blood was streaming in small rivulets from his ears and the corners of his mouth, his Airwolf t-shirt was stained with blood, and a growing pool of red formed beneath him.

"Damn!" Murdock gasped, clenching his teeth in pain. "This was my favorite shirt."

"Shh, Shh it's ok buddy." Faced replied nervously running a hand through his hair before ripping off his jacket and using it to put pressure on the wound to try and stop his friend from bleeding to death.

"Medic!!!" Face screamed, looking around in a panic to see if anyone heard him. He felt the pilot shutter under his hands, his breathing now coming in short pained gasps. His felt throat go dry as he forced himself to look back down at his friend. "

"You're gonna be ok buddy," Face soothed, the adrenaline making his heart feel like it was about to beat out of his chest. Murdock smiled weakly as he turned his head to the side coughing up blood, reaching up and grabbing the lieutenant's forearm to steady himself against the pain.

"I saved the package Face." He replied weakly, his breathing growing more labored. "Ca...can you give it to Bosco for me?" Face swallowed the emotions he was feeling. Refusing to listen to the voice in the back of his head telling him this was Murdock saying goodbye.

"You can give it to me yourself fool!" B.A. yelled as he dropped to his knees beside Face.

The lieutenant looked around frantically and again called for a medic, praying it wasn't too late before looking back down to check on his wounded friend.

"Well, I might be a l...little late to the p...party B.A," Murdock answered weakly.

"Try not to talk Murdock, you're gonna need that energy to get better!" The lieutenant asserted. His mind going numb as he felt the pilot's strength fading beneath his hands. The lieutenant could feel the other man's heart slowing, while his heart sped up, the pilot's breathing was barely audible over the sound of his own panicked breathing. The injured man weakly reached out towards a small wooden crate laying a few feet away.

"B...Bosco, y..you open that on yer b...birthday to..tomorrow, ya hear," Murdock said weakly, his hand falling back to the ground, his body losing the strength to keep his arm up.

B.A. felt like he was falling, his mind was unable to come up with a response, and his voice caught in his throat. This was goodbye...this was his friend saying goodbye. Murdock smiled weakly as his eyes started to droop.

"Happy B...Birthday B…" His labored breathing suddenly slowed, until his chest stopped moving completely. B.A. lost all track of time after that, everything becoming a blur around him. He was aware of Face screaming something near him, though he couldn't understand what, his heart was beating so loud and fast, it sounded like chopper blades beating in his ears.

His mind went numb as he watched the lieutenant start CPR on the pilot. The last thing he remembered before blacking out completely, was watching the life leave his friend's eyes.
