It's been 4 years since the war ended. Zuko and Mai had recently become engaged. Ty Lee has been guarding the Fire Nation palace as a Kyoshi warrior, and spending her spare time hanging with the soon to be Fire Lady. Aang and Katara have been dating for 4 years but their relationship has been far from perfect. The two benders have mostly been in meetings with world leaders or stopping rebellions in different locations, not much time for dates or quality time. In their free time Katara would always suggest to Aang about going out, but he would always be too tired.For Katara it was fine attending these meetings the first two years but as time went on these meetings became unbearable. At times she would be offered to come and hang with Mai and Ty Lee and although she secretly wanted to go, she always refused because she wanted to be there for Aang. Often during these long meetings she would find herself daydreaming about Team Avatar while they were being hunted by the fire nation. However she would always be snapped out of these daydreams when General Arnook of the Northern Water tribe would call her out and ask her opinion on a subject. Fortunately on one of their days off a messenger hawk arrived at the beach house in the Fire Nation that Suki, Sokka, Toph, Aang and Katara were staying at. Sokka opened the message " KATARA. YOU GOT A MESSAGE FROM ZUKO," "Sokka I'm just ten feet away from you." Katara rolled her eyes. Toph came in from the other room "What does it say?" Sokka gave Katara the scroll to read "Zuko captured Azula" Her eyes widened. "He wants me to come, and try to assist him." Suki walked in. Katara turned back to the gang"Anyone want to come?" Toph shook her head, " I'm not interested in helping that fire breathing lunatic." Sokka wrapped his arm around Suki and responded before Suki could "Me and Suki already have other plans." Suki rolled her eyes and smiled. Katara already knew Aang wouldn't come so she didn't ask him. He had told her he would be overseeing a meeting regarding the plans for Republic City. To break the silence Sokka pulled Suki's arm and started running to their room yelling " Welp have fun. Goodnight don't let the bedbugs bite," and slammed the door behind them. Aang walked in the room as the couple exited Toph remarked "Do they know that I can hear what they do in there?" as she headed off to her room. Aang and Katara exchanged a look and started laughing. "Night Avatar" Katara started to leave but he grabbed her hand. "Come with me?" "Sure" he led her on the roof. They sat and looked at the moon for about 2 minutes then Aang spoke "I know these last few months haven't been easy. But I miss spending time with you." They both turned away in silence for about two minutes. Katara decided to break the silence "Umm I know it's late, but you want to practice a little waterbending?" He smiled and nodded, he picked her up bridal style and jumped off the roof and toward the ocean. When the two landed Aang went over to rock to hang his robes. But when he turned around he saw Katara standing on top of a 50 foot wave waiting to crush him. When she sent the wave to crush him, she jumped off hoping to escape before he said the chance to bend it back at her. The played in the ocean for over an hour and Katara could've sworn this was the happiest she has been in a while. Eventually the two got tired and laid on the shore to rest the two soaking benders laid side beside catching their breathes from all the excitement. "Katara I feel like we haven't spoke in forever and i miss us. i miss times like this. i want to live in this moment forever. i've noticed you've looked sad during the meetings and well I just want you to know even you are not alone in wanting out of these meetings. and i appreciate you staying, you staying gives me the strength to keep going. I am only happy when i'm with you." This felt like a weight was lifted off of Katara's shoulders "I want to live in this moment too. I will always be there when you need me and i agree I don't think i ever have had true happiness before i met you." Aang laughed at this statement "That's not true you must've felt happy before you met me." Katara shook her head "nope nothing back home made me happy just caused more pain." This statement left Aang unsettled "What at home caused you pain?" To avoid the question Katara pulled aang into a snuggle and tried to fall asleep. When Aang woke up he saw Katara sleeping, her head on his lap.He grinned and thought to himself how lucky he was to have her. Suddenly Sokka came out of the trees. "There you two are! Aang you were supposed to leave for the Earth Kingdom an hour ago!" Aang jumped up, Katara's head fell on the sand and she woke up. "Gotta go, see ya later katara." He and Sokka ran back to the house. She sighed and got up and headed back to the house. Aang had already left on Appa. When she stepped in Sokka gave her a glare. "What" Katara said, confused. Toph pulled Suki over to the table and said loudly "Sibling fight! This is gonna be great." Suki looked a little concerned. " Umm you were not in your room." Sokka's eyebrow raised. "Yeah I know." She said in a defeated voice, she knew what was about to come. "If you haven't noticed yet I am the leader of this house. Zuko entrusted me and me only to keep this house in order." Katara rolled her eyes, and continued to go to her room to pack. Sokka scoffed and turned to Suki." "Lamest fight ever" Toph remarked and went back to eating her breakfast. Katara finished her packing and said her goodbyes to Toph and Suki. Just as soon as she was about to exit she looked back at the three eating breakfast on the table, in an apologetic voice she said "Bye Sokka" and he rolled his eyes and ignored her. She sighed and walked out. She stepped in the ocean and made herself an ice raft and went to Zuko's palace.
