That awkward time I fell in love

Ch. 1

Naruto groaned in defeat as he opened another rejection of employment letter. He was running out of options and had been surviving off of instant ramen for over a month. His older foster brother, Kakashi, said he would help him get his new book published, what with working as an editor at a publishing house, but that it would take a year to get a decent paycheck for the book.

"You could always move in with us," Kakashi offered when Naruto told of his upcoming eviction notice.

"I don't want to be a burden," Naruto sighed out. "Also I doubt Sasuke would let me."

Kakashi sighed and rolled his eye at his little brother. "Sasuke has been your best friend since the two of you were ten. He will not complain if you have to take the spare room for a little while."

Naruto thought for a bit, hand on his chin. "Clear it with him and I'll start packing my things," he groaned in defeat, running his hands through his blond hair.

Kakashi smirked and walked out of his little brothers apartment to call his younger lover. The two had gone through hell when they got together, what with being ten years apart, and had recently tied the knot by getting married, after being an item since Sasuke was eighteen. Yes, Kakashi made him wait until he was officially an adult to agree to a single date. It took them another six years together and they had finally married.

"Hello?" Kakashi heard on the phone. "Kakashi what's wrong?" Sasuke asked.

"Just Naruto still hasn't been able to get a job and is now facing an eviction notice," Kakashi answered.

A pause. Then a flurrying of very creative curses came from the phone. "He knows he can move in, right? And don't worry about the job. I just heard Itachi fire our secretary, like an hour ago. As long as he can keep my brother and I organized he's hired."

"Dare I ask what the secretary did to illicit getting fired after only a month?"

"She tried to get in Itachi's pants," Sasuke spoke annoyed. "This was after I had already told her I was married because she had been hitting on me."

"Oh? Well if you hire Naruto you at least won't have that problem," Kakashi told him. "The poor kid was sure you wouldn't let him in our house while he got back on his feet and would then have to move in with Jiraya or our parents."

Silence went through the phone.

"Sasuke?" Kakashi questioned.

"That damn dobe. Why would he think I wouldn't let him live with us?! We're best friends. Tell him I'm seriously pissed he would think so low of me." Sasuke ranted. Ooh, the young Uchiha was pissed.

"Well, from what I gather he probably had to swallow some pride just to accept the help."

After hanging up with his love, Kakashi walked back into Naruto's apartment and smiled at the younger.

"Sasuke said you can crash with us as long as you need," Kakashi told Naruto.

"Well, I'll get packed and should be ready by the end of today," he replied.
