Prologue

"In ages past lived two knights of the Church, sworn to defend the Kingdom of France to their last breath. The two warriors were known across Europe for their bravery, tactics, courage, and ferocity. But these two friends, whom they considered each other as brothers, would soon battle each other as sworn enemies: Baron Leon Belmont, an excellent leader and master of all known forms of combat, and Sir Mathias Cronqvist, master strategist and alchemist."

"Leon and Mathias, despite their differences, were the greatest of friends. However, that all changed when tragedy struck; Elisabetha, Mathias' beloved wife, had lost her life to a fatal illness, whilst Leon's beloved fiance, Sara Trantoul, was taken by an evil man who had turned his back on God. The name of this monster was Walter Bernhard, Lord of the Vampires, and ruler of the forest domain known as the Eternal Night. The knights inform Leon and Mathias as to the whereabouts of this Vampire's domain, but Mathias, stricken with grief for the loss of his beloved, was unable to head off, leaving Leon to face off against Walter Bernhard alone."

"Upon his arrival in the Eternal Night, Leon met an alchemist whose daughter was transformed into a vampire by Bernhard and promised he would exact revenge upon the vampire. He informed Leon that the only way he could even harm Bernhard's minions was with a specially handcrafted whip designed from magic and alchemy, designed to wound any unholy creature on contact. Leon traversed through the forest and into the Vampire Lord's castle, facing off and defeating his strongest minions one by one, eventually making it to the throne room, with Walter Bernhard awaiting his arrival. With a swing of the whip, Leon struck Bernhard, but the monster had no scratch on neither his armor nor flesh. Unimpressed by Belmont's persistence, he gave back Sara, alive, but slowly changing into something dark and evil. Returning to the alchemist's shop, Leon was now realizing the truth; his beloved was changing into a vampire, a creature of the night. Knowing Belmont was furious about being unable to wound Bernhard, the alchemist informed him that the only way for the whip to strike the vampire down was to complete it."

"Leon was informed that the only way to complete the whip was with a sacrifice of a pure soul tainted by darkness. The eyes turned to his beloved Sara, who was willing to give up her own life to stop Walter Bernhard from creating more pain and suffering upon others and to prevent herself from changing into a bloodthirsty monster. Leon was reluctant to strike down the one he loved, but with no other choice and a heavy heart, he cracked the whip as Sara, ending her life and completing the weapon, transforming it into the Vampire Killer. Stricken with both grief and rage, Leon made his way back to the castle facing off once again with Walter Bernhard, but this time, he was able to wound the Lord of the Vampires. After the battle, blood stained the castle floor, not the Belmont's, but the Vampire's own. As he felt his immortal life fading away, Walter Bernhard swore that he would return to exact his revenge. But as soon as those words were spoken, Death himself arrived and claimed the vampire's dark soul and gave it to someone Leon was not expecting… Mathias Cronqvist, his own brother in arms."

"Shocked at this revelation, Leon demanded an explanation from his friend. Mathias said that it was he who manipulated Leon, Walter Bernhard, the alchemist and the monsters in the forest. All of them were just pawns in a game that needed to end with him gaining the soul of a powerful vampire using a dark relic known as the Crimson Stone, so that he could achieve eternal life. He explained to Leon, 'We have risked our lives and fought for the sake of God... But God mercilessly stole away the one I loved most... When all I ever wished for was Elisabetha's safety! If limited life is God's decree, then I shall defy it! And within that eternity, I shall curse Him forevermore!' Mathias insisted on giving Leon immortality as well, but Belmont, in furious rage for the death of his beloved Sara, refused, claiming that his now-former friend has now become nothing more than the monster Walter Bernhard was. Understanding the meaning of Leon's decision, Mathias left Death to destroy Leon, only to be defeated by the power of the Vampire Killer. However, as long as Death's master lives on, so shall he. But at that moment, Leon gave Death a message for his master, saying that one day his kin, his future descendants, wielding the very whip that destroyed Walter Bernhard, will destroy Mathias one day. Leon proclaimed, 'From this day on, the Belmont Clan will hunt the Night!' With that declaration, Death vanished and the castle crumbled, restoring light to the forest and extinguishing all creatures of the night. Leon then returned to France, informing the Church and the royal family of his former friend's deeds. Leon then went out west to Wallachia, where he and his next of kin would train in the ways of combat and the whip, destroying all who turn their backs on God himself."

"After receiving Leon's message from Death, Mathias was growing more concerned about Leon's bloodline becoming a potential threat. Mathias then decided to prepare in case Leon or his kin would find and destroy him. He created his own ever-moving castle and sought out ancient relics of dark power, and forged a cape of dragon scales. Mathias was then given a prophecy by an ancient mirror, saying that the Belmonts shall destroy him not once but thrice in past, present, and future. At that moment, Mathias turned his back on humans and mortality, and was reborn with a new title: The Son of the Beast, the Prince of Darkness, the Lord of Shadows…"

"Dracula, the Dragon!"
