The Avengers were at the Compound putting together their planned machine to travel through the Quantum Realm and travel to timelines and retrieve the Infinity Stones so that they could reverse what Thanos had done. Tony had arrived and shook his head as he looked at them arrogantly, "So I came here because I thought that you might have changed your mind about this stupid reckless experiment but I see that you still want to go through with this. You really want to risk everything for a reckless stunt; we lost and everyone is moving on so forget about it..." Tony said as everyone glared at him.
"YOU moved on Tony; while there are people who have moved on and try to look on the bright side like open borders as they try to work together to rebuild and how cleaner the oceans are... The truth is that most people are miserable Tony as everyone is trying to cope and carry on with the general sense being miserable... I have seen the message boards, social media and the news and do you know how most people are holding on? They are holding onto the slightest hope that what Thanos had done could be reversed; that it can be fixed. I truly understand and sympathise you not wanting to jeopardise your life with Pepper and Morgan but we have a chance to actually avenge everyone who were lost." Steve replied as Tony glared at him.
"You can't be serious Capsicle, we lost..." Tony snapped but Steve snapped harder.
"Because of you Tony! We lost because of you! I have done my best to be patient with you even if you stretched it too hard and I have you leeway when you had gotten back to Earth because we were all emotional and you were near death but I am done trying to humour you. You wanted us to sign the Accords right away and worry about things about safeguards later and lied to my face about us being able to amend them and what would happen to Bucky because King T'Challa told me about his request to have Bucky extradited approved before our little talk. You brought a teenager into a fight that had nothing to do with him and pretty much lied to him about why he was there and told not to ask questions. I stand by going against the Accords and I am sorry about letting you know about HYDRA and your parents but honestly Tony I had no time to think about that as I had jsut found out that HYDRA was still alive after all this time and it's not like I could trust my source of the information either. Zola's AI admitted he was stalling for time so that we could be killed by a bomb. Plus Bruce told me all about how you didn't want to bring us in and you wanted to do it yourself; how he had to give the call himself. I am not going to let the lives counting on us down jsut because of your Ego not wanting to accept that you had a hand in our biggest loss ever." Steve told him as Tony didn't expect Steve to give such an argument back.
"We could rebuild Earth here... Everyone is working together and we can manage..." Tony tried to argue back and Natasha butted in.
"What about the rest of the universe Tony because in case it escaped your little head, Earth's wasn't the only place in the universe that was affected. Everything was from species close to extinction to those whose population Thanos had already culled in half. Species and planets are taking part in civil wars and blame is being tossed around. Carol Danvers has let us know that as bad as things are on Earth; we're actually one of the luckier planets in the Universe because it's much worse everywhere else. Are you saying that your quiet retirement life is worth the entire universe suffering?" Natasha asked as everyone was now glaring at him and Tony was furious.
Tony then began assembling armor but then was hit by a special EMP like device from Rocket which turned his armor pieces to junk and a slight tap on the back of teh head from Bruce knocked Tony out. "You are only a genius on Earth pal." Rocket said in a gloating self satisfied voice.
After a few attempts they managed to get it down and put Tony somewhere where he couldn't interfere and Pepper had actually sent a parcel to Steve with a note saying:
Tony doesn't agree but this rightfully belongs to you Cap.
Captain America was ready to lead the Avengers through the mission once they have decided where to go and who to bring. They brought the Infinity Stones back and mourned Natasha who was left on Vormir to get the Soul Stone. Rocket had before spent some time creating a Gauntlet which wasn't as sturdy as the one Thanos had but should be good enough for one good Snap. Bruce snapped and sent the Stones back immediately through the portal which each be sent in special small pods that Rocket and Bruce made to send them back to their own timelines.
Bruce thought to change their timeline and put their minds back in their old selves from 5 years so Thor had arrived just after Thanos was using the Time Stone to restore Vision. Thanos never saw it coming as before he could grab the Stone; Thor rectified his mistake and aimed for the head.
The Red Skull in his role as the Stonekeeper knew what happened when the Avengers found a loophole and cheated so Natasha's mind and soul was returned to her timeline 5 years previously; he couldn't help but find a little respect in outsmarting the Soul Stone like that.
Their Nebula's mind was sent to herself as well and knew it was too late for her sister and mourned her but still their friends and family the Guardians of the Galaxy was there with her and she smiled at him.
The past Nebula still loyal to her 'father' had sent the controls on the Quantum Realm machine to allow Thanos' ship through the portal but thanks to the alterations in the timeline the machine after the Snap faded to existence causing Thanos's ship to become stuck in the Quantum Realm. This caused a blast which pretty much disintegrated the ship in the Quantum Realm.
Nebula embraced the Guardians along with Rocket as they both cried tears of joy saying they did it much to the other Guardians confusion. Her sister had been avenged.
Bruce had made it so that everyone born in the 5 years after the Snap would get a chance to be born and live, including Morgan especially since Pepper didn't tell Tony before everything went down that she was pregnant.
The Avengers would be hailed as heroes and would be pardoned with Thaddeus Ross getting a nasty shock when he saw it in the news as well as a report suspending him as Secretary of the State as well as removing him from the Accords Panel pending an investigation. The other Panel members had been called to the UN and easily pointed fingers to him as focusing on his petty grudge against the fugitive Avengers as why priorities were put on them over the ongoing alien invasion. Plus they found troubling things among the reports of what he had done to hunt them and to enforce the Accords along with the things in his military career he had yet to be held accountable for.
Tony found himself on Titan seeing Dr Stephen Strange who remarked that if he kept looking through the futures then he could have found this other one where they won. Tony was muttering to himself that the idiots done it and he was back here but found Peter Parker and went to embrace him but was roughly pushed off. "You lied to me... Not only that but you were willing to let the Universe suffer for your petty ego..." Peter snapped at him and Tony was red in the face, how could he have...
"Stark's Spider kid... Banner, you son of a bitch..." laughed Rocket and Nebula found amusement in this as well much to the confusion of the Guardians. Peter Quill demanded an explanation but Rocket said they had to focus on getting the Earth Avengers home first and then they will fill them in.
Based on a chapter of the stories by Gibbs_Yeah on AO3, more specifically the one which showed what would have happened if Peter wasn't snapped. Plus while I glanced at one or two, I know there are Tony Stan stories that said that Team Cap shouldn't have tried the Time Heist. Again I respect people's opinion and right to write their stories but us Team Cap writers have the right to write ours. I haven't seen any that pointed out that Earth wasn't the only one to be affected by the Snap.
