Welcome Back! It's time to continue this series. This episode will revolve around my first two (of many) Original Characters: Jacob Shomes, and Hazel Brown. While I don't have any specific designs for these two, I will give a basic profile of the two characters.

Jacob Sholmes: An 18 year old male, born on May 4th. He descends from the same bloodlines as The Great Herlock Sholmes. Originally from London, but moved to Los Angeles with his parents at the age of 8. Both parents are world class detectives, but Jacob is more interested in become a Defense Attorney, He even took a few years out of school to go back to Europe to study and get his degree early. Much like Athena Cykes, he is qualified to practice law, but he hasn't had the chance to do so. Yet.

(Well... looks like Capcom decided to do something none of us saw coming. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles... Which confirms Herlock Sholmes. So, in order to make it fit into the current Ace Attorney Canon, Jacob Holmes has now become, Jacob Sholmes.)

Hazel Brown: A 17 year old female, born on April 25th. Born and raised in LA for her whole life. A young aspiring baker, who runs her own online bakery. (Her specialty is Hazelnut Brownies.) Lives with her single father, who is the president of restaurant franchise. Her father gives Hazel as much love as possible, worried that his absence could damage their family relationship. Despite having her future set out in baking, she enjoys watching courtroom dramas and reading case reports. Has been Jacob's best friend for just nearly 10 years.

So that's the major info about the two of them.

My last point of note for this story, is the theme song I chose to use. "Objections!" By HiroEcks. (Song found on Soundcloud) Despite it being a fan song, I think it's a great song in the Ace Attorney Context.

And with that, Time to get this started!

The day came. He was finally moving into an apartment. A place he could finally call his own.

18 year old Jacob Sholmes was currently waiting for the lift he was inside to reach his floor. In his hands, he held his moving boxes. He had a large suitcase sitting in-between him, next to a large pink suitcase, and the other girl in the lift. His roommate, 17 year old Hazel Brown, Jacob's closest friend for the past 10 years.

Jacob moved into Los Angeles back when he was only 8. His parents were incredibly talented detectives, requiring them to move around the world. His family decided to settle down in LA, and work with the police department there. Jacob was enrolled in a nearby elementary school, however due to being under-educated because of problems with home-schooling, he was in a grade a year below his age. Unbeknownst to him however, this one factor would sew the seeds of his future...

"Hey, Jacob? You gonna leave this elevator?" Hazel asked.

"Give me a second..." He replied. Jacob, pulling his suitcase, left the lift and followed Hazel to their room. Hazel was moving into Jacobs apartment. The two teens had been planning for a few months, and were finally fulfilling the plan.

"I'll get the door open" Hazel said, as she held the door open with her body. As Jacob made it to the door, he noticed a problem.

"Uhh... Hazel?" Jacob began. "We have a problem..."

"Ah right!" Hazel said with realisation. "I'll drop what I'm holding so I can let you in..."

Hazel put down her boxes, and slid them against the corridoor wall. Before going into the room and holding the door open for Jacob, who proceeded to put his boxes next to Hazel's and walk his suitcase into the room.

Once he finished with that, he placed a doorstop on the floor to hold the door open. "Alright then, Hazel..." He began "Start bringin' em in!"

Hazel nodded. "In they come!" She responded.

After about 5 minutes, all but one of the boxes had been taken into and unpacked inside the apartment. One box was left, and Jacob went out to grab it. It was the heaviest box. He moved it into the room, unaware of the young woman who just noticed him.

"I've got the last box here, Haze." Jacob called out to Hazel.

Hazel walked towards Jacob, grabbing the box out of his hand. "My baking stuff is in here, so I'll set it up."

There was a sudden knock on the door. "I'll get it, you sort out your kitchen stuff." Jacob said to his roommate.

"Sure thing." Hazel replied, walking off into the kitchen.

Jacob walked to the door, and opened it. "Hello, Can I help you?" He asked.

The woman on the other side of the door immediately caught his eye. Her bright yellow suit jacket and long, bright orange hair stuck out the most.

"Wait a minute..!" Jacob exclaimed "You're Athena Cykes!" He added, throwing his hand out towards her for a shake.

Athena enthusiastically accepted the shake. "Yep, that's me! And, welcome to this apartment block, Mr...?"

"Jacob. Jacob Sholmes." He replied.

Athena grew a child like smile. "No way?! SHOLMES?!" She asked. "You mean like THE Herlock Sholmes?!"

"Yes." Jacob responded.

"Oh wow!" Athena replied. "So you're in quite the family?"

"Yep." Jacob nodded. "A family of detectives, to be precise." Jacob motioned to his apartment door. "Please, come in." He said.

Athena obliged and followed Jacob into the apartment.

Despite the small size of the apartment, Athena felt a very welcoming atmosphere. As Athena made her way into the flat, Hazel emerged from the kitchen, after sorting out her baking supplies, and began to set up the TV.

"Hah! Small world, Athena!" She quickly said, as she noticed Athena's reflection in the screen.

"A small world indeed." Athena replied, walking over to Hazel and greeting her with a hug.

"I'm not surprised you two are friendly, considering you're both friends of Trucy." Jacob said.

"That's pretty accurate." Hazel replied. "Trucy and I have been quite close for a few years now."

"Someone had to take over my role for me then. Thanks, Hazel." Jacob replied, in a joking manor.

"Your role?" Athena asked. "And why did she have to take over?"

"I decided to travel to Europe to become a defense attorney." Jacob replied. "Like with most budding lawyers my age, we were inspired by Phoenix Wright."

"I see you had the same idea as me..." Athena responded. "So, I'm assuming you succeeded?"

"Yep..." Jacob said. "And like a Cub Scout, I have the badge to prove it."

Athena was lost in thought. "Found any work yet?"

"No, not yet." Jacob said. "I've just settled back home, so I still need to look around."

Athena paused for a minute, before saying "Just keep looking around, I believe you'll get some work soon."

"Thanks, Athena." Jacob responded.

"And.. it's up and running!" Hazel said, as the TV was fully set up. Hazel then flicked through channels, before a breaking news report caught her attention.

"We have breaking news this afternoon, CCTV footage, and witness testimony have confirmed the rumour of the Stormtrooper invasion." A female reporter stated.

Jacob and Hazel were taken aback. "The what invasion?!" Hazel sputtered out.

"Stormtroopers INVADED?!" Jacob exclaimed. "When, why and how did this happen?!"

Jacob expected a response from Hazel, but she turned the TV up, in order to listen to the report.

"We have access to exclusive footage, of the Stormtroopers in the wild."

The screen cut to live footage, of Stormtroopers charging through the city. The group of 4 troopers notice the cameramen, and began to charge towards them, some troopers opening fire. Things looked bleak for the reporters, until...

"Mega Man! They're in-a danger!"

Super Mario and Mega Man suddenly jumped in front of the cameramen. Before launching a borage of Mega Buster bullets and fireballs at the Stormtroopers.

Mega Man turned around and faced the cameramen. "I understand you're trying to inform the public about what's going on, but I seriously recommend that you guys head back to your offices."

Mario quickly piped up. "Don't-a worry, we'll get the Stormtroopers." He said, before running off in the opposite direction.

"Stay safe, you guys." Mega Man said, before following Mario.

"Mega Man and... Mario... are real?" Jacob stammered out.

"Damn it Jacob! Stop effin' geeking out!" Hazel quickly exclaimed back "I still can't believe Stormtroopers have invaded!"

Athena, thinking, Jacob and Hazel wouldn't believe that she was part of the invading franchises, so she had to lie on the spot. "I know, It's freaking nuts!" She stated in response.

Being a compulsive worrier and overthinker, Hazel began to unpack her clothes, to try and take her mind off of things. She began to quickly sort her loungewear and pyjamas into one pile, before sorting her normal clothes and shoes into another pile.

"You ok there, Hazel?" Jacob asked in concern.

Hazel stopped, took a few breaths to calm herself down, and responded. "Yeah... Just a little caught off guard by all this."

Athena noticed that Hazel was stressed. "I can see you need some space, Hazel. I'm gonna head back to my place. If you need to talk, I'm next door."

Hazel, although still stressed, smiled a genuine smile. "Thank you, Athena. I'll see you later."

"Same from me, Athena" Jacob added. "See you around."

"See you two later." Athena replied, as she left the apartment.

Jacob noticed that Hazel was still worried. "Don't worry about unpacking tonight..." He began. "Get change into something more comfortable, and we'll spend the rest of the evening on the sofa."

Hazel laughed. "We call "sofa's" couches here, Jacob." Jacob laughed at the jab, and noticed that it cheered Hazel up. "Alright then, We christen this apartment with a take-out and movie night?"

"Yeah." Jacob replied. "Let's keep our minds at ease."

Hazel nodded, and walked towards the pile of her loungewear and pyjamas. "By the time I've changed into my pyjama's..." She began, looking through the pile. "...I'm expecting you to have got an idea of what you would like to order, and where from."

"Sure thing." He replied.

Hazel, after settling on a Crush 40 band shirt and dark pink plaid pyjama pants, quickly untied and removed her boots, placing them with the rest of her shoes. Before taking her choice of loungewear, and walking into the apartment's bathroom to change.

Athena walked back into her apartment, after removing her suit jacket and boots, she sat in front of her TV, and pulled her phone out of her pocket. She quickly scrolled through her contacts, before finding who she wanted to call.

The line connected quickly. "Hello, Athena." The voice of Phoenix Wright said. "What do you need?"

"Boss, you said we had more desk space after that clean up, how many people could we fit?" Athena asked.

"We could have up to five, but I think we could go up to four, we still need a spot for Apollo, after all." Phoenix responded. "Why do you ask?"

"It turns out, one of my new teenage neighbours has just returned from Europe, he's got his attorney's badge, but not any work yet." Athena replied. I was wondering if he could join us."

Phoenix paused for a second. "Hearing them out shouldn't cause us much harm." He responded. "Do you have a name?"

"Jacob Sholmes, he said." Athena replied. "He said he descends from Herlock Sholmes."

Phoenix went silent. "We'll here him out." He replied. "I think he's got potential."

"Ok, Boss!" Athena said. "I'll inform him tomorrow."

"Perfect." Phoenix added. "I have to go now, Trucy's got a show in an hour."

Athena facepalmed. "Yes, of course." she said. Which was a complete bluff, during the chaos of the day, she'd forgotten about Trucy's show that night.

"I'll see you there Athena. Bye for now." Phoenix said.

"See you soon, Boss." Athena replied, before hagning up. Athena quickly grabbed a pen, and wrote something down on her memo pad.

"Talk to Jacob Sholmes - Tomorrow Morning."
