Summary: Set in the BOOM! Comics remake, Kendra deals with various deviances here and there, here she discusses such things with her guardian and her girlfriend.
Rating: I'd say definitely adult-level, but parental guidance is strongly insisted upon; it doesn't have anything truly horrible.
Chapter #1.): Tutoring Meeting.
Kendra Young was seated in the couch in her guardian, Rupert Giles' home, as she and her girlfriend, Rose Martinez, were watching a rerun of an early episode of "Arrow". They had reached about the period of Nyssa's antics to try to get Sara Lance to move back in with her; well, Rupert walked into the living room right about then, and saw that these two were watching how Sara was coming out to her own dad. Around about then, Nyssa had kidnapped Sara's mom to try to manipulate her to moving back in with her. "You do know what's wrong here, don't you, girls?" Rupert asked.
Kendra was currently in AP classes, and had immediately picked up on what was being done that was not only deviant, but also wrong "She's trying to kidnap her." Kendra said. "Not only that," Miss Young continued "if Nyssa goes through with this, any intimacy they engage in would be classified as non-consensual; as her partner would've been kidnapped and manipulated via blackmail." she explained.
"Exactly," Rupert explained "it'd be a violation, as consent would've been overruled." he said, to aid these girls in learning self-control- he knew, far better than they did, that this kind of relationship is prone to horrible lifestyles; but how to explain it to them.
Rose got up, and quietly excused herself, explaining that she had to get going to go home, that her mom was worried, or would be worried. Then Kendra and Rose shared a kiss, and Rose headed home. When Kendra turned around, Rupert was frowning, just a bit, but she knew he didn't approve. "I know you don't approve" Kendra began, "but I really love her, and she's my friend." she tried to justify this by appeal to a higher loyalty- foolishly at that; for as he explained, their actions weren't those of people who loved one-another, but those of people whose motives were primarily lust disguised as love for each-other.
"Its lust disguised as love, exactly as Nyssa had for Sara in the show you two watched." Rupert, her, well, the best term for their relationship was he was a foster-daddy to her, or tried to explain to her anyways.
"I still don't get it." Kendra explained, and he clarified that the behaviors, since they are the fruits of deviancies, had to be taught. She was sad, and kind of hurt, but inwardly she well knew that such a behavior couldn't be the biological case for humanity to exist. Her emotions, however, rebelled, but the intellectual nature of the young black girl overruled her emotions easily.
She was also different in other ways, she grew up in a gang-riddled area of the globe, Jamaica, and while she loved her home island's culture, inwardly, as a patriot, she grieved the abuses of neighbors that poverty had brought about in gangs. Also, as a black girl, she was different from Rupert in a lot of ways: DNA being one of them, skin color and gender to name a few thereof. She also dealt, daily, with same-sex attraction- and not in a platonic fashion, but a romantic fashion. Thankfully, she and Rose were celibate in their dealings; but he had explained to her that it was still dangerous to their salvations what they were doing- and if she really, really loved Rose, she'd exit the romance and remain simply friends. That was the hard-part, though.
"We love each-other. How can loving someone be wrong?" Kendra asked, as if completely confused.
"What if you were in love with someone who's not available for that kind of love to be acted upon?" Mr. Giles responded, trying to make her see the case.
"Okay, as I really do love her, I will try to amend my conduct regarding her." Kendra replied, not wanting to seduce Rose at all. "But it *does* make me feel good to be with her; she's pretty and sweet and really fun." Kendra said, with a happy smile; as however she realized that, based on her coursework and homework, that she may well have been being conditioned by her heart to have this tendency towards her girlfriend, and not the heart that pumps blood, but the emotions. She realized she'd learned this from hanging out with her, accidentally, but still, and it mayn't have been the wisest choice of companion to hang out with, however.
