Chapter One: Pillow Fight
From the first day they'd moved in together, Izuku and Mina found that evenings at their apartment generally fell into two categories: work or rest.
It really depended on how the day had gone. If they were working on a big case or had just finished a mission, Izuku would stay up into the most ungodly hours of the night investigating online or finishing paperwork. If he was staying up, Mina stayed up with him, and vice-versa. That had become an unspoken agreement when they agreed to start living with each other. It was easier to keep working when your roommate was there to support you, be it with tea, food, or just being present.
Most nights were work nights.
Rest nights happened maybe once or twice a week, less if they were really busy. If they'd gotten everything finished (or mostly everything) and found themselves with time to relax, then Izuku would cook and they'd curl up on the couch to watch something on TV.
Mind you, when they'd first moved in together some months back, it was just to make ends meet. They were great friends, and it just so happened the hero offices they worked at were close to one another. It made sense to room together and split the bills.
Besides, even if Izuku's friendship with Katsuki had been repaired throughout their time in high school, he just...didn't want to live with the explosive man.
Sure, Mina was energetic and excitable, but she was cheerful and friendly even at the worst of times. Izuku found it easy to get along with her. He wouldn't have agreed to live with her otherwise.
Tonight was a rest night, but it was one of the rare times they weren't really exhausted. It had been an easy week, with little crime and no big cases. As such, they had a bit more energy than usual.
That extra energy was probably why Izuku was staring in bemusement at the massive pillow fort Mina had created in their living room. Gleeful amber eyes stared out from within the darkness as Izuku sipped on a cup of tea.
"What is your purpose here, villain?" Mina whispered dramatically.
"I'm an innocent bystander enjoying a drink," he answered dryly.
"Lies! You are a villain seeking treasure! You will never ransack my castle!"
Izuku eyed the "castle" for a moment. Mina's playfulness was infectious. "I dunno. I'm pretty strong."
"Your attack will end in failure! For I am the greatest hero and the defender of this castle! Your evil shall be destroyed if you trespass on my land!"
Her eyes gleamed with the light of a challenge. Izuku, being the mature young man he was, valiantly resisted the childishness of his grown-ass friend for approximately half a second before he succumbed to temptation.
"I couldn't possibly take on the greatest hero and live to tell the tale," he bemoaned his chances. Smirked at the small giggle he heard from within the pillow fort. "I must flee with my life while I can."
"That's right! Escape now, villain! I shall come for you soon enough!"
Izuku stepped away out of her line of sight and quietly set his mug down on the table beside the couch. As quietly as he could, he tiptoed around the pillow fort until he was behind it. The apartment was silent with tension, but he felt light and excited.
He rushed the fort from the back and barreled through the pillows. There was a shriek as he found Mina and quickly wrapped his arms around her, trapping her in his grasp.
"A sneak attack! Have you no honor?!" Mina screeched.
"None! For I am a villain! Your castle falls!"
"For shame! But I have not lost! I shall defeat you!"
She wriggled to escape, rolling her body until he was trapped beneath her. One of the big couch pillows fell on his face and he tried to shake it off, but it only gave Mina a chance to slip from his grasp. Izuku tossed the pillow from his head as his friend spun around and tackled him, causing the rest of the fort to collapse on them. They were buried in a mess of blankets and pillows as they flailed beneath the disaster that was now their living room.
"Surrender, villain!" Mina demanded.
Izuku grinned back playfully. "Never!"
"Then I shall crush you!"
It seemed she meant that quite literally as she kept him trapped beneath her. Izuku was fighting blind and when the blankets were finally pulled away from his head, it was because they were getting tied around his hands. Unwilling to surrender, he lurched upwards and managed to get his trapped hands over Mina's head to lock them at her back.
She squirmed to place her hands on his chest so she could push away, but Izuku kept her close with a tight grip. He couldn't get free of the blankets wrapped around his hands without allowing her to escape, so they remained trapped together.
Mina's eyes narrowed, but her lips were curved up into a wide grin. "It seems we are in a stalemate."
"So it would seem," he agreed cheerily. "Shall we negotiate?"
"Negotiate? But I have yet to use my secret weapon!"
"Oh?"
With a playful wink, she leaned forward and planted a kiss on his cheek. Izuku's face immediately began to burn bright red in shock and she seized the opportunity to wriggle free of his grasp. Before his brain could register what was happening, he was once again trapped beneath his roommate with no hope of escape.
"Gotcha!"
"That-that's cheating!"
"All is fair in love and war!" Mina cackled. She looked down on him imperiously, mirth glimmering in her eyes. "Now, what to do with you?"
Izuku blushed as she leaned down so her face hovered just over his own. He swallowed tightly. His entire body was stiff and tight.
To her credit, Mina didn't immediately proceed. "This ok?"
"Yes," he breathed out shakily, gasping as she leaned down to press their lips together. It was warm and he was shivering with something between terror and euphoria. Her hands cupped his cheeks and he felt her trembling.
She suddenly pulled back and unwrapped the blanket pinning his hands. Even with them now freed, he wasn't entirely sure what to do with them at the moment. He sat up with Mina still planted in his lap, nose-to-nose and shivering with her. The mess of pillows was soft beneath him.
"Again?" She asked.
"Mmhm."
Funnily enough, it happened again, and again, and again. They ended up sleeping on the ruins of Mina's pillow fort with lots of questions for tomorrow, but peace for the moment.
And that was enough for them.
A/N: I'm back again for more IzuMina content! They didn't host the event on Tumblr this year, but I wanted to keep the series go! Writing this rare pair is just too much fun and it's wholesomeness is good for my heart. Look forward to plenty of fluff and a little bit of steaminess ;)
