Andy got out of bed and moved to the kitchen to grab herself a cup of coffee. She stretched and yawned as she walked sleepily into the kitchen of her little apartment.
She was glad she would be able to afford something bigger soon. She had just been promoted to Arts and Events Reporter at the New York Mirror which meant she had to cover the big events happening in New York.
With the raise she'd received, she'd be able to afford an apartment in a nicer neighborhood, but for now, she wanted to add to her savings.
She had worked hard since leaving Runway almost two years before and she'd never been quite able to forget the way she left and although she'd taken the time to make her apologies to Miranda, even finding the courage to ask her to dinner to talk about it, and maybe more, she'd never received a reply.
The only person she'd stayed in contact with was Nigel. They occasionally had drinks or dinner together and he kept her up to date on the newest fashion trends.
When Andy sat down to drink her coffee, she began to scroll through her phone to check the news and her social media when she saw the headline.
Love at last. Has Miranda finally found the newest Mr Priestly?
Miranda Priestly was spotted last night at the Cosmopolitan Fashion Week with handsome Douglas Carter (53) at her side. An insider has told us how he never left her side and even managed to steal a kiss.
As the successful owner of Carter's Digital Agency and one of the top Bachelors in New York City, Carter is a perfect match for Priestly.
Could it be that she has found husband number three?
As she finished the article, Andy's heart sunk. She reread the words, she looked at the picture of the couple.
If she was honest with herself, they made a great looking couple.
She closed the news app and chuckled. "I'm so stupid," Andy mumbled to herself, thinking about her dreams about being with Miranda. She would never want to be with her.
Andy was a simple reporter, she was a woman and she was far too young. Of course, she would want someone closer to her age, a father figure for her children.
Tears formed in her eyes and she decided to go for a run.
She was so mad at herself for the impossible hope she'd held on to. Mad about the missed opportunities and chances she could have taken in the past.
She left her apartment and ran like a woman possessed.
Why hadn't she called Miranda or gone to her townhouse to fight for a chance? Instead, she'd written an email that probably hadn't even reached her.
While she ran she started crying again, ignoring the started looks of the people she passed and when she eventually reached Central Park, she looked for a bench and sat down. Her tears flowed freely.
"Andy?" A soft voice questioned.
When Andy looked up she saw the small redhead standing right in front of her with the large Saint Bernard dog. Andy thought she was dreaming. This surely couldn't be true.
"Caroline?" Andy asked surprised. She wiped her tears away.
"Yes, I am still surprised you can tell us apart." The young woman chuckled nervously. "Are you okay, Andy? Why are you crying?" She asked in concern.
Andy patted her knee and cuddled into Patricia when she lay her head against her. "Oh, it's nothing. I just read something upsetting. How are you guys?" She asked hoping she was off the hook.
"We're fine. We've been enjoying the last days of the summer break before we start our first year of Highschool." Caroline explained.
"Highschool? Oh my god, I suddenly feel so old." Andy said chuckling.
"Oh come on, Andy. You are not that old and we are not that young anymore either. So, I take it you read the article?" Caroline asked.
"Which article?" Andy asked, playing dumb.
"The one about mom's fake relationship," Caroline stated, knowing full well how Andy felt about her mother.
"Fake? I...uh...didn't know..." Andy said smiling again.
"Well, now you do," Caroline stated. "Why don't you come to dinner today? I'm sure mom wouldn't mind. And Cassidy and I would love it. We've missed you, you know." She added as they walked side by side through the park.
"Oh no. I'm sure that's not a good idea. I don't think your mom would be very happy." Andy said, laughing nervously just thinking about the idea. "But we can exchange numbers." She offered. "Then you can text me anytime. For example, when you go for a walk. We can meet here if you and your sister like."
Caroline smiled happily and saved Andy's number as did she. "It's too bad about dinner." She mused. "Mom always talked about you, even after you left. She's following your career and as soon as you started at the New York Mirror we had a new subscription to that particular newspaper."
Andy's eyes went wide. "She did? I mean...I...wow." She was amazed.
"Can you hold Patricia so I can get myself some ice cream?" Caroline asked, pointing to the ice cream truck in the distance.
"Sure, honey. Go ahead. I'll wait with Patricia by that bench." Andy said taking the leash.
"Thank you, Andy." Caroline grinned and ran towards the ice cream truck.
Andy sat on the bench and pulled her phone out. She looked at the picture of Miranda and her fake date once again. She should have known it wasn't real since Miranda was using her fake smile and seemed uncomfortable. She thought about what Caroline had told her about Miranda talking about her. It was something she couldn't believe, but if it was true, then maybe there was still hope.
She looked up and realised Caroline was nowhere to be seen. Andy looked around in panic before standing and rushing towards the ice cream truck. "Shit. Caroline?" She called out.
There was no answer. She took out her phone and saw she had received a text message. Opening her messaging app, she started to read.
"Hi Andy, it's Caroline. I am fine but I took a shortcut and I'm on my way home. I'm sorry but I wanted you to come to the house and see us and mom. Now you'll have to when you bring Patricia." She'd added a winking emoji.
Andy was initially relieved to know Caroline was fine but then got angry. She glanced at Patricia who looked up at her with her big cute puppy eyes and she couldn't stop herself from chuckling. She responded to the text quickly.
"Prankster. You haven't changed one bit."
Andy started walking out of the park towards Miranda's townhouse.

"Hi mom, I'm home," Caroline yelled as she walked into the townhouse.
"Hello, my darl..." Miranda stopped in her tracks and looked around. "Have you forgotten something at the park?"
"What do you mean?" Caroline asked innocently.
"Oh, I don't know. Perhaps something big and furry, with a tail." Miranda stated. "Caroline Stephanie Priestly, you'd better tell me right this instant where Patricia is?"
"Uhm...well...you know..." Caroline started as Cassidy joined them.
"Did you lose Patricia?" Cassidy asked. "Oh my god, you're in so much trouble," Cassidy said and got mad.
"I didn't lose her, someone borrowed her and...uh...you don't need to worry since she'll be returned home any moment," Caroline said, trying not to spoil her surprise visitor.
"You gave our dog to a stranger? What have I told you about talking to strangers? That's it! You are not allowed to walk her by yourself anymore and you are losing your cell phone privileges for a week, two if anything happens to Patricia." Miranda was beside herself.
"'Kay, mom, I'm sorry." Caroline hesitated for a moment before handing her phone over to Miranda as the doorbell rang.
"I hope for your sake that's the stranger with our dog," Miranda stated. "Both of you, upstairs, now!" She said.
They hurried up a flight of stairs and stopped to eavesdrop and in a whisper, Caroline told Cassidy about her plan and they both giggled. Once she knew Patricia was fine, Cassidy high-fived her sister.
When Miranda opened the door, she was stunned. "Andrea?" She stepped aside to let the woman in. "What in the world are you..." She sighed and closed the door so no one would hear her giving the younger woman a piece of her mind.
"Miranda, hi. It's lovely to see you..." Andy said as she unleashed Patricia who ambled upstairs.
"Lovely? Andrea, are you out of your mind? Stealing our dog and sending my daughter home all by herself?" Miranda could feel herself growing irate.
"But I didn't..." Andy tried to explain.
Miranda wasn't finished.
"You didn't? Then why did my daughter show up here without our dog?" She demanded.
"Oh boy, I was wondering if I'd be reintroduced to La Priestly and here she is...is there anything else or can I explain?" Andy said, crossing her arms with a smirk.
Miranda was surprised for a moment then suddenly burst out into a fit of laughter.
Andy joined in and when they calmed down she explained to Miranda what had happened. "I accidentally met Caroline in the park and we were talking as we walked. The next thing, she claimed to want ice cream and asked me to hold on to Patricia. The next thing I knew, she'd disappeared.
"Oh my god, I'm sorry Andrea, I was just..." Miranda faltered.
"I know, you were just scared for your daughter and dog. But everything is fine." Andy smiled gently at her. "I'm sorry for disturbing your day, but It was really lovely seeing you though. I've missed you and those little pranksters. I hope you don't mind, but I gave Caroline my phone number."
"Yes, that is fine. She won't be able to message you since she lost her phone privileges though." Miranda stated.
"May I just say hi to the twins before I go? Then I will get out of your hair so you can enjoy the rest of your weekend after your scare." Andy said, secretly surprised by how easy it was to talk to Miranda even after all the time that had passed.
"Of course, but before you go, I would like to invite you to dinner tonight, I mean, if you aren't busy?" Miranda blushed. "I'd love to catch up and as an apology for my girls. I'm certain Cassidy was in on this too." She smiled a little. "You may come down now, girls. I know you've been eavesdropping." She called out, looking up the stairs and catching her daughter's guilty eyes. They rushed down the stairs.
"How do you always know these things, Mom?" Caroline asked as they approached.
Miranda tapped her on the nose and smiled. "I know everything."
"Hey, prankster. I've missed you." Andy said, hugging Cassidy tightly.
"Hi Andy, I missed you too and just as an FYI, I wasn't a part of this." Cassidy insisted, pulling back from her.
Caroline stood on the last step and looked down clearly ashamed.
Andy stepped towards her and pulled her into her arms. "Oh, come here you." She hugged her as tightly as she had Cassidy.
"I'm sorry, Andy. I didn't mean to get you into any trouble, I swear." Caroline said. "I've just missed you. I think we all did." She muttered, looking at her mom hopefully.
Miranda cleared her throat but said nothing.
"Well seems your plan worked out after all. So when's dinner?" Andy asked
"6 pm sharp and I mean 6 o'clock," Miranda said with a smirk.
"Alright Priestly's, I'll be here," Andy said as she waved her goodbye. She felt giddy about coming back later.

Andy was nervous and excited. While she ran around her apartment half-naked, she called her best friend. "Doug, it's an emergency. I have the hottest date. Help. What should I wear?" She was completely out of breath.
"Okay, first of all, calm down honey. As long as it isn't Miranda Priestly you're dating, you don't have to worry about your clothes 'cause honey you look smoking hot in everything." Doug said.
"IT IS HER!" Andy yelled. "I HAVE A DATE WITH MIRANDA FUCKING PRIESTLY!" She squealed. "Seriously, can we freak out now?"
"Oh fuck me, sideways. Are you kidding me? Details! Now!" Doug directed, on the verge of freaking out as well.
Andy described what had happened earlier that day and felt a little calmer from the retelling of the events.
"Okay, so technically you have a date with the entire family. Hmmm. Meaningful. I'd say the True Religion jeans and..." Doug paused as he thought about it. "Oh, Andy baby, you need to wear the black bodysuit with the little flower lace pattern at the top. Just wear a blazer over it to make it suitable for the kids, but promise me, once they are in bed, you'd better take that blazer off. I mean it, honey, if I was straight I'd be all over you if you wore that for me." He explained.
Andy liked the idea. "You are a lifesaver, Dougie. Thank you." She was relieved as she laid out the clothes Doug suggested on her bed.
"Wear your hair down and curl it a little. You'll only need light make-up. And Andy, once you're all dolled up I wanna see a picture." Doug told her.
Andy could hear his triumphant smirk. "I definitely will. Alright, I need to go get ready. Thanks again, sweetie. I will fill you in with details as soon as I am home."
"You better, 'cause I wanna hear all of the gory details. Plus, you better go get her and not miss another chance." Doug said in a warning tone. "This is it."
"I know." Andy exhaled. "I won't let this opportunity pass, I promise. Bye Dougie, I love you." She hung up after he said his goodbye.
Andy checked herself out once she was ready and was happy with the result. It was casual, sexy and chic.

Miranda was experiencing a case of nerves and trepidation at the thought of the evening to come. "Girls, come here a minute." She called her daughter's into her bedroom.
When they walked in they gaped at her.
"Wow, mom you look so pretty," Cassidy said.
"I agree. Andy will probably faint." Caroline added.
"Do you think it's alright?" Miranda asked checking her attire in the mirror once more.
"It's more than that, Mom," Caroline answered and sat on the bed with her sister.
"You are in love with her aren't you?" Cassidy asked suddenly.
Miranda whipped her head around and glared at them. "I don't know where you would get that idea."
"Mom, we're just saying that if you are, then this is the right outfit to get her," Caroline replied softly. "Don't kill me, but we both think it would be foolish to let this chance pass," she added.
Miranda sighed and sat between them. "When did you become so grown up, my Bobbsey's? I think I do...love her..." The twins squealed and Miranda gave them a lopsided grin. "...but I have doubts. I'm so old and what about you girls? I...ugh...I don't even know what I'm saying." She said and started to stand up.
The twins held her in place.
"No, mom wait. Stop." Caroline pleaded. "You're not old, mom and we would be very happy if you dated Andy."
"Yeah, mom, she's so cool and fun," Cassidy said. "And..."
Caroline interrupted her sister. "When we met today, she was crying over that article because she thought you had a new partner. I told her it's was fake and you should have seen her smile."
"Wow, I guess I don't have a choice now do I?" Miranda pursed her lips slightly
"I guess you don't," Cassidy said and hugged her.
"Go get her," Caroline whispered, joining her sister and giving her a tight hug.
"Thank you for being so supportive, girls. This means the world to me." Miranda was growing emotional. "I love you both very much, I hope you know that."
"Mo-oom, we know that." Caroline rolled her eyes and pulled away.
"You've gotta tell Andy though, she doesn't know yet," Cassidy stated as she also pulled back and stood up.
"Oh you, go get changed." Miranda shooed them away. "Andréa will be here shortly."
Miranda stood in front of the mirror once again and glanced over herself. She had chosen to wear a wrap-around dress, where the top was white and the bottom was black. It was low cut and the skirt clung to her ass. She smoothed it out and decided to go downstairs to prepare everything.
When the doorbell rang, Miranda took a deep breath and opened the door. "Good evening, Andréa. I'm glad you could make it." She greeted. Once she saw Andy, her jaw almost dropped and Miranda started to stutter. "You look delicious...I, uh...uhm, I mean beautiful...very nice." She tried to save herself.
Andy was brave and placing a hand on Miranda's waist, kissed her cheeks. She lingered a bit longer to whisper her answer in Miranda's ear. "You look more than delicious, Miranda and I hope you're prepared for me flirting shamelessly with you every chance I get." She pulled back and saw how Miranda blushed.
Miranda didn't mind when she spotted the fact Andy was blushing just as much. "Acceptable." She couldn't find it in herself to form a better answer.
When the twins came down to greet Andy, she took her hand from Miranda's waist slowly and she shivered, missing her hand already.
"Hey, Andy." The twins yelled and hugged her.
"You look so pretty Andy," Caroline remarked.
"So do you guys, I love your outfits." Andy grinned.

Dinner was a lovely affair and they took their time to catch up and the twins talked about how excited they were to go to Highschool.
"I think we're going upstairs, mom," Caroline announced, nudging her sister's arm.
"We are?" Cassidy asked and saw her sisters look. "Ohhh yes, we are." She stood up and picked up her plate to clear it away and Caroline followed suit.
"Your girls are very subtle, I have to say," Andy said with a laugh after they had disappeared. Both knew full well why they left.
"More wine?" Miranda asked and Andy happily nodded her agreement. "Let's move to the den. We can sit in front of the fireplace if you'd like?" Miranda offered.
"I'd love that, especially with such beautiful and charming company," Andy said flirting like hell.
"Most people would disagree on the charming part, Andréa," Miranda replied as she led them into the den.
They settled on the plush carpet and leaned against the loveseat behind them.
"As you know, I'm not most people, Miranda." Andy sighed. "I can't tell you just how much I love seeing you like this. Relaxed and happy. It makes me very happy." Andy said.
Miranda chuckled. "I am glad I appear relaxed. I'm very nervous." She admitted shyly.
"No way. I make you nervous?" Andy queried. "You know what you do to me. I'm just grateful I can form a coherent sentence around you. That's how nervous I am and how awestruck by your beauty." She took Miranda's hand and caressed it. "You don't ever have to be nervous around me. I want you to feel comfortable and content." Andy said. She looked over to see Miranda licking her lips. "You need to stop the sexy things you do. I am attempting to behave just like a normal person does on a first date."
"Is this a date?" Miranda asked as she turned her hand and laced fingers with Andy's.
"I uh...you know...I'd like to think so." Now it was Andys turn to stutter and lose her cool.
"Me too, although I am not doing anything sexy," Miranda declared as she squeezed her hand.
"Oh boy, if you only knew how sensuous you are. Like when you bite your lip, or when you drink your wine and you hum...it's just beyond sexy and makes me wanna do things that aren't very appropriate for a first date." Andy admitted.
"You are ridiculous, I'm no such thing," Miranda emphasised yet again. "As you already know, Andréa, I never play by the rules though." She said giving her a sexy glare.
"You're not playing very fair, lady. But I have to tell you that I love flirting with you." Andy smiled brightly.
"So do I," Miranda admitted. "Now tell me, Andréa, where do you live now?" Miranda asked.
They talked for a while about everything and anything and after a while, Andy took off her blazer. When she went to settle back on the couch Miranda motioned for her to get comfortable and lay her head on her thighs.
"Is that alright for you?" Miranda asked as she started to caress Andy's hair.
Andy nodded and smiled as they continued talking. It felt so good and natural but she was having a hard time concentrating especially when Miranda scraped her nails slowly and sensually against her scalp.
Miranda felt the same once Andy had taken off her blazer and she noticed the see-through lacy part around Andys shoulders and chest. Absentmindedly, her other hand slid onto Andys shoulder.
Andy took it and played with her fingers. "Your hands are so beautiful," she stated as she kept looking at it. She pulled it down and kissed her palm.
Miranda closed her eyes and just enjoyed the intimate moment. "Andrea..." She murmured.
"What is it? Tell me what you need." Andy whispered against her hand peppering it with light kisses.
"I think you know what I need. You always did." Miranda husked.
Andy got up and turned towards Miranda. "I hope you need what I need." She said, sliding her hand against Miranda's cheek and into her hair as she closed the distance.
Miranda licked her lips and gave her a small nod. Their lips touched briefly at first to test the waters. Miranda came to life and pulled Andy back and kissed again. Softly. It felt like a rush that was flowing through their body. They felt warm and fuzzy as they kissed slowly and softly.
"Oh, it feels even better than I imagined," Andy whispered against her lips.
"Less talking, more kissing," Miranda replied and pulled Andy in once again. She decided they needed a better angle to kiss since it was uncomfortable for both to sit at a sideward angle, so she pulled back and straddled her thighs. "This okay?" She asked resting her forehead against Andy's.
"More than that. I'm so lucky." Andy said, sliding her hands up Miranda's thighs. She stopped on her waist to pull her even closer. They looked into each other's eyes and Andy started to shiver.
"Are you cold, darling?" Miranda asked concerned.
"No, quite the opposite. I'm so aroused, Miranda." Andy revealed. "You...God, what are you doing to me? The way you make me feel is hard to put into words." She said, letting her hands roam over Miranda's body.
"I feel the same, darling. I uh...I don't think anyone had ever looked at me the way you are right now. With so much desire." Miranda whispered.
"It's so much more than that, Miranda," Andy said as she started to kiss Miranda's throat.
Miranda moaned. "Mhhh, darling."
Andy pulled her down and kissed her passionately until Miranda opened her mouth and welcomed her tongue. They both moaned and Miranda started to grind her pelvis into Andy's lap.
"Okay...alright...we...we need to stop," Andy said between kisses. "...the girls...first date and...the girls."
Miranda chuckled and slowly slid off her lap. "As you wish."
"I wouldn't have been able to contain myself any longer, love. I ...uh, god, I want you so much." Andy said breathing heavily.
"I feel the same, but I know we need to behave," Miranda said. Her cheeks flushed and she was smiling.
"You look stunning like this. I can't wait to see how you look after I've had my way with you." Andy stated.
"You need to leave now, Andrea, before this gets out of hand," Miranda said getting up.
Andy followed and they started to make out once again. "I know...I will...but please tell me there will be lots of more dates like this."
Miranda helped her into her blazer and before she put it on kissed her shoulder. "I'm counting on it." She whispered.
They went into the foyer and Andy got ready to leave. "Tell the girls bye from me and...uhm, thank you for having me."
Miranda went in to hug her. "I wish I could have you right now, Andréa. But soon, my darling. I promise. Call me when you get home. There's a cab waiting for you."
Once she pulled back they kissed and Andy pressed Miranda against the closet door. She slid her hand up to her breasts and tore a heartfelt moan from the woman beneath her. "Something to remember me by," Andy said and let go of Miranda.
"How could I ever forget, I never have," Miranda confessed.
"Neither did I. Good night, love," Andy smiled and stroked her hand along Miranda's jaw. "I hope you have the best dreams."
"You too, darling. Don't forget to call me." She waved her off and smiled. She loved the thought of the dates that lay ahead of them in the future.
THE END
