The moist air was beginning to drive her mad.

Abby Archer, age 16, ran through the dark and narrow tunnels of the underground sewage system. The stench of rotten flesh and sewer water surrounding her, she nimbly jumped, avoiding a large log in her path. Maniacal laughter echoed off the tunnel walls as she gritted her teeth and frowned.

To recount the dominos leading towards the current events, Abby would have to trace her path back to junior high. That day when a new kid named Chester Nightshade showed up, causing all organic matter to rot when his emotions spiraled out of control. Even with Abby offering to help, the parasite infecting the boy drove him to the brink of criminal insanity. Now with a name of it's own, Kid Rot had made it his mission to destroy all organic matter on the earth, but not before inviting Abby to join him. His offer went down with refusal and the lovesick villain was last seen engulfed in a river of his own rot. With Kid Rot's fate left unknown, the agency left his file in the cabinets.

Or, that was until last month. Another severe heatwave had broken out in a different part of Canada, with a rot epidemic in tow. Hundreds of animals were melted to the bone and a couple of humans had gone missing as well. While the world was left in confusion and shock, Abby knew what that meant. Kid Rot was back, and more deadly than ever

The Director had ordered his current team of field agents to investigate the crime scene, but what came up was only evidence leading them nowhere. A few more cases had popped up similarly, each one leading closer and closer to Ringworm. It was as if Kid had chosen this path, a path straight to the place he once was presumed dead. Rottingham forest.

Much of the wildlife had evacuated the forest from the deforestation which could have only been caused by Kid Rot. A couple of campers had stayed in their respective sites, a decision which resulted in them going missing a few days later. Except for one park ranger, who was found curled up in the outhouse. But his information was mostly useless, as he would only say one thing in a shaky voice.

"He's here.."

That was what lead the grossologists on a wild goose chase. Abby, Ty, and a few senior agents were sent out to take a look at the forest. This time however, the evidence lead them across the area. Like Kid Rot was wanting them to chase after him, yet they still hadn't seen him in the flesh.

Until today, as Abby was investigating the Ringworm sewers due to the extremely unnatural amounts of humidity. Even if Kid wasn't there, she would still find out whatever was causing the sewers to heat up. But be it sheer luck or horror, she had spotted a tall shadow from the side of the tunnels, to who she called out to. Unfounratnly, she was only met with laughter as the smell of garbage got stronger.

Now, Abby continued to run after the shadow and set off some goop from her goop shooter. The figure seemed to be disappearing, as if it was a ghost. Of course Abby didn't believe in ghosts, so she proceeded with confidence down the tunnels.

Suddenly to her surprise, she was met with a dead end lacking a ladder or door. Panicking, Abby grabbed her grossmeter and tried to call Lab Rat to report her findings, but the device's signal was disrupted. Abby grimaced and turned to go back the way she came, but then, the strong smell of earth and rot filled her senses as she noticed something on the ground. A familiar black pool of substances she could only assume belonged to the person she had been searching for the whole time.

Without warning, a figure emerged from the pool, standing hunched over as if it were injured. When the substances glided off the body, Abby's eyes widened as she saw a face she hadn't seen in years.

"Kid Rot..."

A/N: Hi there! This is technically my first actually published Grossology fanfiction! (Not counting Hermes the Destroyer) I've been dying to write a situation where Abby rencounters Kid Rot, so I'm finally putting it into words. I'm hoping to get a chapter out at least once a week if I feel like it, and I apologize for the short prologue. Thank you for reading!
