Walking down and up the staircase was a hobby of mine, especially considering how often this one guy I've tried getting close to hangs around there practically the entire day even after school ends. I've tried so hard that I even started skipping classes a month ago and coming to the shop late to hang out with him. He's depressed because of some breakup with an orange-haired chick, that's all he's ever told me. He's only ever opened up once about it.

As I descended down the stairs knowingly being late for class. Again. It's not that I'd rather stay here and try to comfort this guy, it's that I don't want me or the girl that broke his heart to be the reason he ends up on the news for… well. You know. Pancake.

My eyes laid on him, slumped over the rail of the staircase just wasting away.

"Listen Taka-" I felt like giving him one of my famous speeches that usually pumps up the sports teams or inspires the numerous nerdy clubs, but…

"Oh look at you two, as pathetic as always!" A pink haired girl coming down the stairs interrupted, "It's not like either of you will ever graduate even if you attend class more, so there's no reason to be here. It's a shock you're still student body president, you'd be much more deserving if you actually attended class, idiot."

I turned my head from Takashi to her as she stood right in front of me, "Oh? Sounds like you're worried about me again, Saya. You know, you come here almost every day. Is it because you know I'll be here?" My face donned a smirk as I asked the now flustered 'genius'.

"W-What.. of course not, idiot! I'm just saying how pathetic y-you are! And who gave you p-permission to call me that, Romanov?!" She stammered and brightened a bit red and only fumed more and more as I laughed at her.

She's too fun not to mess with. My toothy grin grew as I laughed more and more.

My phone buzzed just as I opened my mouth to answer her, "Oh shit, I've gotta blast. My dad needs help at the gun range again. See ya Takashi. See ya Saya." About to leave, Takagi stopped me.

I turned to look at her, noticing some kind of weird vibe I'm getting from her, "Yeah Takagi?"

She looked at the ground and held out her hand. In it was a squeeze bottle, "H-y B-a-.." She whispered and I just stared at her, not understanding what she said or wanted.

The hell did she say! She whispered it for crying out loud, how could I have heard that! Ok, ok, ok..! I looked down at the bottle in her hand. Does she need help with it? No way, she wouldn't have asked for help with a damn bottle, that's trivial. So, what else could she be giving me this for-

"Are you going to take it or not?! Idiot.." She lashed out, catching me off guard by suddenly yelling like that.

"U-Uh.." Taking the bottle, I slowly look up at her face. Woah! So cute! ..WHAAAAT! Slapping myself a couple times, I could feel the heat on my cheeks each time I made contact. What're you thinking, Yashi!?

"Ok thanks, bye!" I fled down the flight of stairs as fast as I could, much to her protests.

As I walk to my dad's gun shop, I start to think to myself, Man, Saya is too funny sometimes, I chuckle a bit at the memory I just made with her, I wonder what she actually thinks of me… I mean I've met her mother when we were younger on my visit to Japan so maybe I get some cookie points there? What am I thinking about?! I stop and slap my face with both hands a few times, and look at my reflection in the window of the restaurant I'm standing in front of.

Man, am I enough to be hers..? What the hell am I thinking?! You're really doing this to me, brain? My cheeks red and I slap my face a few more times, So, you really are doing this to me, huh brain? I don't actually… like her or anything… right? I mean sure my heart beated when she got close to me and I'm thinking if I could be enough to be her boyfriend but there must be a solid explanation for that other than… that.. right?

Pulling the bottle out of my backpack pocket, I wonder why she gave me this? Maybe it's some sick twisted cursed bottle that she's given to me.

I uncapped it and poured some on the back of my hand to feel its temperature. It just has to have warm water, huh Saya? I shrugged it off and poured some in the palm of my hand and washed my face off with it, then continued to walk.

About three minutes until I'm there, if I had to guess.

Did Dad tidy up the place? It looks neat.. too neat. Narrowing my eyes in a skeptical way as I stand at the entrance of the gun shop. Tip-toeing my way to the backroom, I peeked around the corner noticing nothing out of the ordinary then entered. Putting my bag down on the table, I got a plastic cup and filled it with coffee.

I wonder what kind of shit dad cooked up today. Sipping at the coffee it tasted good, but then I took a gulp. Let's just say that I'm never gulping down another 'dad coffee' again. I left my bag on the table before I walked out of the backroom and went over to the gun range.

Twisting the knob to the door of the gun range, I entered the room being in absolute darkness and silence. "Must not be here yet, well I'll go ahead and open the ventilation then." I thought out loud.

I turned to look at where the light switch usually is, finding it not long after and flicked it.

As I turned back to look at the lights turning on I heard a raspy though energetic masculine voice in front of me, "The only thing you'll open are these presents, son! Hyahaha!" My eyes observed the sight of my dad and the presents beside him, laying on the table between the firing line and the targets.

"Oh shit dad, thanks!" I automatically said as I ran up to give my smaller dad a hug. Presents? Wait, Takagi gave me something too. Is today Christmas or something? My grin notably turned into a confused expression.

"What's wrong, Yashiro? Did you outgrow the whole present thing?" Dad asked as he put on a jokingly playful tone.

"Is it Christmas?" I asked with confusion drawing itself on my face..

"Whaa-! It's your birthday, dumbass! Christmas is in winter and it's spring right now, Haha! My boy's so worked up at school that he doesn't even remember his own birthday!" He proclaimed seemingly gleeful.

Oh right.. The 20th of April is my birthday. Looks like time flew by since last year, but still the look in his eyes says it all. He's sad that I forgot because of the effort he put in to make this happen, having to close shop today, going out to buy more gifts, inviting people just to be rejected, and probably a lot more bullshit he had to deal with that I'm not aware of.

"Calm down, Konov. The boy's needs a relaxing day today, can't you tell?" A feminine voice I hadn't even detected spoke up to my left.

Natalia Satoshi, the aunt Saya mentioned at the staircase, was a teacher. Guess they're the only two that came… again. I turned my hand into a fist, and nearly shed a tear.

"D-Dad.. when will She be here? I w-want her to see how much I've g-grown since she last s-saw me.." My voice shivered while speaking and I raised my head to look at my father, my eyes near tears, needing one more reason to explode into an emotional crying mess.

Emotional over my family, I know. Well, it's more like 'Emotional over my mother, I know.' The reason being is that my mother's been gone for the past 6 fucking years without even so much as a goodbye note when she left or letters over the years at all. I've heard nothing from her and I've grown to despise her because of it, but it makes me want to find her all the more to tell her how I feel about her.

"Oh sweety, it's alright. She'll be here before your next birthday." Auntie said, comfortingly. She embraced me as if I were a child that just lost his favorite toy or blankie.

Damnit, they said that last year! Why do they have to- I noticed my father's dejected face when I looked at him from my Aunties shoulder, I-I see.. it's affecting him as much as it is me. Letting go of my Auntie, I went over by the presents near my dad. I know this is going to sound childish, but fuck it. Child Mode: Activate motherfucker!

I slapped his shoulder and grinned, "We don't need her! We can make it in life on our own! Now let's get to the presents!" I tried sounding like I didn't care. Like I didn't want her to come, but with every fiber of my being I want to see her again. I'd do anything to see her.

Dad's face lit up a bit at that last comment. Looking at either present, I decided between the two before coming to a realization, and then looked at the bottle that Saya gave me, This was a present..? That means that she remembered my birthday.. I've got no other option than to treasure this. W-Wait a minute, IT'S JUST A BOTTLE, CALM DOWN YASHI!

Opening the blue wrapped present, I found a customized golden 1911 with an extended magazine, a 5MW laser dot, and a suppressor attached. Also, the barrel seems to be longer, to be specific it looks to be about 5.5" or 6".

"Well? What are you waiting for? Try it out!" My dad said with a toothy grin, pressing a switch to make the targets prop up.

"You got it!" Facing the targets, I gripped the gun and felt grip tape as I held it forward with both hands and aimed in with it. The iron sight seems to be normal. Then I checked the magazine and saw about 15 bullets in there. I held it back up and flicked the safety off, pulled the slide, cocked the hammer, aimed down the sight, and put my right finger on the trigger then pulled.

14 Bullets. It hit the target dead in the head.

I pulled the trigger again.

13 Bullets. This time it hit the target in the dead center of its chest.

I turned to my dad, "This gun has no recoil so if someone were to try me-" Without even looking, I shot at the target - which by the way the gun made no noise at all because of the suppressor.

Turning to look, I was delighted at the sight of the new bullet hole dead center in the target's head.

12 Bullets. I flicked the safety back on.

"Ha! Good shot, son! That's my boy!" Dad slapped my back, congratulating me. I gave him back my signature toothy grin.

"Thanks dad," Placing the 1911 down on the table, I slid the other, larger and longer, present to a more comfortable position for me to open it.

After doing so, an all-black stainless steel self-defense bat was unveiled to my eyes. I lifted it up from the grip of the handle, immediately I liked this thing. The grip was also black and nonslip, meaning if I were to swing it it wouldn't ever slip out of my hands ever and I'd look like a damn badass with this thing at the same time.

Dad points to a Bob XL that was put against the wall behind me. Turning around almost instantly, it was as if charging an attack in an MMO, I slammed the bat right into the side of its head, nearly sending it on its side.

Imma bring these things to school- wait a minute you idiot, everyone's going to think you're a school shooter. Eh, I'll just hide the pistol and the bat's a bat. I'll just say that I have baseball practice afterschool. I thought before turning to my dad, and asked him to call the school about the bat.

"You bet, kiddo!" Dad then pulled his phone out almost immediately and went to the farthest corner. About to try the gun again, I felt a soft hand on my shoulder.

Turning to face it, I thought I saw my Mother, but it was just my Aunt. "Now, Yashi, you remember the rule your father gave you when handling weapons, right?" She asked with a finger pointed up in a lecturing way.

"Of course, Auntie. Self defense of myself or others are the only times I should use weapons." I repeated the mantra I always repeat in my mind whenever I enter any establishment at all with any weapon.

"Yo, son!" I turned my attention to my father, who called out to me. "They said there is no problem with the bat, just leave the pistol here."

Yeah, like hell am I leaving this beauty anywhere besides with me. The rest of the day was fun, and it was splendid. The next day? Let's just say; not as much.

The bat strapped onto my which was placed snugly on my back, and the pistol inside with three 15-round magazines in my back pockets. Again, I was walking up and down the stairs that Takashi wastes away on. Did Saya really have to come here just to say that?

[Flashback to a Couple of Minutes Ago]

Takashi muttered something under his breath as I continued my walk up the stairs for the third time.

"That's so stupid." A familiar voice causes the both of us to look up at who was coming down it. Saya.

"What do you want?" Takashi asked, his voice obviously filled with depression.

"Everytime you have to face something you don't like, you always come to this stupid staircase. It's like your own little pity-" I then jumped in between both of them to stop Saya from finishing but masked it as appreciation for the bottle she gave me yesterday for my birthday, though I truly was and still am appreciative of it. Thank god that she left Takashi alone, this guy was dealing with way too much at the moment.

[Flashback End]

"Takashi." I stop walking down on the level he was at. He simply nodded his head as if to tell me to continue.

"The past is the past, but you can make the future yours. You don't need anyone to determ- What the fuck. Takashi look." I point at the school gates, which he gazes at and upon looking his eyes - as well as mine already - have locked onto a weirdo just repeatedly walking into the gate.

"Who's that? A trespasser?" Takashi rhetorically asked, and a few teachers - some notable ones being Ms. Hayashi and Mr. Teshima - were walking towards the gate.

"Teachers? And 4 of them, wouldn't anyone have ran away at this point at the sight of teachers. The hell is that guy planning?" I asked no one in particular, and saw Mr. Teshima put his arm through the gate and gripped the guy's collar, probably trying to intimidate him.

"Look at Teshima, he's trying to act tough in front of - What the fuck!?" Teshima fell to the ground, blood spurts across the floor he was around and he somewhat grasped at his now bloodied arm, and the teachers were obviously probably much more surprised than we were and they all staggered back. His yells were more than audible from where me and Takashi were at, but soon he stopped. He just stopped. You'd be forgiven if you thought Teshima was dead for good with the way he laid on the ground.

But, once he twitched, the female teacher - Ms. Hayashi - stood near the alive Teshi- "What the fuck!" Myself and Takashi were taken aback at the sudden events; Teshima grabbed Hayashi by the collar from the ground and sunk his teeth in her, causing her to shout in pain and seconds later the same thing that happened to Teshima, happened to her.

Oh fuck, oh shit, oh fuck, oh shit! No, just calm down, we'll need to get the fuck out of here, Yashi. I put my bag down, pulled my golden 1911 out, and looked it over - finding everything is as it should be. Also, I pulled out a pistol holster that attaches to my belt and thigh. Looking up, I opened my mouth to say something to Takashi but it seems he already bolted.

My eyes widened as a thought came to my head, But the students that'll be killed by those things, Saya, Takashi. Goddamnit, Yashi, what has your father taught you! Self defense of myself or others are the only times I should use weapons. I repeated the phrase a few times in my head as I hooked the holster to my belt and left it there at my thigh. I placed my pistol in it.

Before I grabbed my bat, I noticed a bottle. To be specific, the bottle that Saya gave me.

Afterwards, I unslung my bat from my bag and after checking if the magazines were in my pockets, I dashed from the staircase, leaving my bag there. Not long after that at all, I arrived in a hallway not yet plagued by those corpses. Yep, that's what I'm calling them now, 'zombie' is too corny.

Having been sprinting in the hallway for some time, I notice a certain pick haired chick and some.. chubby blob? "Saya! Come with-" What interrupted me was an announcement telling all students to evacuate and..

"HUAAA! HEL- HUAAAA! HUUAAAAAA!" That's the fucking principal now. That's him. Now dying and probably going to turn into a corpse. What followed was yelling and panic all around the school, which was all audible.

"Hey glasses, get off your hands and knees, we're gonna be doing something called surviving this shit." I held a hand out to him, He seems really familiar.. Where do I know this guy from? Oh well, that shit doesn't matter right now!

"Follow me." Saya took off running, followed by the familiar guy. I sighed and followed her, the bat resting on my shoulder. She's gonna be the death of me..

"Saya, do you actually know where we're going?" I asked, with a bit of an annoyed tone.

"Do you have a better idea?" Saya asked, looking over her shoulder at me as we ran.

"We could stay and go save as many students as we can." I answered, patrolling our surroundings with each step using only my eyes.

"That's useless. What do you think a bunch of useless idiots will do for us if we have to save them?" She asked as we arrived at a bridge between the two sides of the school and came to a stop.

"Look, you see them?" She pointed to a group of students knocking on the teachers lounge. "Let's see if they can help themselves." We watched as the door opened and the male knocking on the door was knocked to the floor and chewed on by a single corpse while others came out and attacked the other shocked students.

"Do you think they would've been helpful, huh Yashiro?" She asked rhetorically in a snarky tone.

"We could've helped them, Saya. Goddamnit, I'm taking the initiative from now on, no sarcastic rebuttals 'cause it could cost our fucking lives." I angrily answered, causing her to protest, she made such a fuss that one of the corpses that were part of the students group began walking our way.

"You idiot, get behind me." I tightened my grip on my bat, and readied myself for it.

"Who do you think you are telling me what to do?" She protested, but still got behind me along with the chubby guy.

"Shut the fuck up already!" I shouted, swinging my bat down on the corpse's head, nearly flattening its head while splattering blood on myself, the bat, the railing, and even some on Saya and Glasses. At the sound of a head being cracked open and a body hitting the floor on top of all that yelling, the feasting corpses left their dinner, got up, and began going towards us.

"This is what happens when you're bitchy, Saya. We should start going unless we wanna be their seconds!" I knocked one of the leading corpses back into the others behind it with the tip of my bat, slowing them down somewhat, and started sprinting away to the other side of the school followed by the other two.

A/N: First fanfic posted, so. There's that. I know I use a lot of I's but I don't really know anyone other way I could try writing without using I. I want you guys to let me know any other way I could form sentences without using I
