There are several reasons any type of confession wouldn't play out well, so let's go ahead and list them right now.

One. You, a farm girl from the south, are in love with a famous girl, an extremely famous girl. Who had pretty much no idea you existed up until a couple of weeks ago.

Two. You've screwed up your chances of having her trust you, at least a hundred percent anyways. Though your short conversation near the mosasaurus pool might have lifted your spirits, she was probably only being nice. Only trying to stop another conflict from arising, or so you would keep telling yourself.

Three. How could someone so pretty, talented, and famous not already have someone they were interested in? She probably had tons of fans who were pining after her, it only made sense. What chance did you have against hundreds of others?

Sammy scratched the side of her head, nervously, sure she was missing something. See? There was just no way someone like Brooklynn would fall for little ole Sammy, Mantah Corp sellout, Gutierrez. Especially not after the stunt she'd pulled with the phone. And the whole spy thing. The guilt still hung over the young girl, even if the others had seemingly forgiven her long ago.

"Uh, Sammy?" a voice called out, even though her name was called softly, the seated girl jumped ever so slightly. It seemed Sammy's disappearance from the group hadn't gone unnoticed. The cowgirl scrunched her nose in an uncharacteristic way, earning a chuckle from whoever had joined her at the fire pit. Peering up at the voice, already knowing its owner, the cowgirl let a soft smile come to her lips. How could she not, when the sound of that pink haired girl's laughter sounded like music to her ears.

"Hey there, superstar. Need somethin'?" the girl chirped out happily, hoping the darkness of night would hide the blush she was sure had found its way onto her face. The other let out a hefty sigh as they plopped down on the makeshift couch next to her. Dust particles floated up from the old material, making it appear as if small sparkles were framing the other's face. Brooklynn was so close and looked so magnificent even in her muddy get up. The starstruck Sammy could hardly keep her eyes off the girl. It took everything in her to tear her eyes away, opting to look down at her worn out boots.

"You didn't hear a word I just said, did you?" Brooklynn laughed half-heartedly as she nudged the other girl playfully. Sammy jumped, once again, causing Brooklynn to furrow her brow. Quickly composing herself, she shook her head, letting out a laugh that was a bit louder than she'd meant it to be.

"S-Sorry, I was just thinking… Well-" Sammy was interrupted when the other girl placed a hand on her own, her lips pursed nervously, and multiple beads of sweat started to form. She could hardly keep her composure at the sudden action, which Brooklynn must've noticed all too quickly as she removed her hand. Sammy's frown deepened.

"I was just saying Darius asked me to come check on you." She paused briefly, quickly tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear, "I'm sorry for not checking on you earlier. I mean... We've all been through a lot and I just wanted you to know that I'm, uh, we're here for you. "

There was a flush of heat where Brooklynn's hand had once been, but nowhere near as prevalent as the heat on Sammy's face. No doubt Brooklynn had noticed it and this was all but confirmed when the girl's hand was suddenly plastered to her forehead. Sammy couldn't contain her embarrassment, unable to look away as the girl's intense green eyes gazed directly into her own. Was it possible for human beings to melt? In this moment, she believed she just might.

"Jeez, Sammy, if you were sick you should've said something." The worry on the star's face was evident as she stood up, a small breeze tickled Sammy's arm as she did so. Winking cheekily, she continued, "Hold on, we should have some stuff for that fever. Luckily for you I learned tons of first aid in my 'Brooklynn Unboxes Warehouse Safety' vid."

Not even registering the words after Brooklynn stood, Sammy reached out towards her hand, and it felt as if time had stopped. Both girls looked at each other, the moonlight reflecting loudly off their reddened faces, neither of them spoke. The lovestruck spy was unable to read the other girl's face, as they stared at each other for what seemed like hours. All Sammy could hear was her own heart pounding in her chest, waiting for her crush to rip her hand away in annoyance. To say something snarky and go back to the group. To do something. Anything.

"I like you!" Sammy shouted, abruptly, breaking the uncomfortable silence that'd enveloped them. A lump began to form in her throat as Brooklynn slowly removed her hand from Sammy's grasp. If the silence was unbearable before, it was downright suffocating now. Sammy refused to look up, letting her slightly trembling hand fall back into her lap, listening as the girl of her dreams walked away. Me and my big mouth.
