"Green Lantern of sector 2814, can you read me?"
"Loud and clear, Kilowog".
Hal Jordan, Green Lantern of sector 2814.
He fly through space, glaring at the many planets and stars, and remaining clear on his every day mission by the Guardians.
Scouting and reporting any suspicions.
This seems to bore him, as the hothead and reckless Hal sigh, due to wishing he could be back on Earth and do what every day human would love to do on their free time.
Kilowog, his partner and friend, replied, "How are you doing on your scouting?"
"Eh, the usual. Nothing happening", Hal replied, "You?"
"A few heist here and there, but nothing too special".
"Sounds more exciting than mines".
"Tell me about it", Kilowog said, agreeing with his boredom, "If we switch role I might found your chore more relaxing than mines".
"Trust me, it better you stay in your sector. Mine is super boring".
"Well if that's the case I'll take it".
"Say Kilowog, any news lately about the Yellow core?"
The question asked was something Hal wanted to know, to get rid of some boredom, but also stay tuned as he knew what the core is capable of.
With them using fear and such.
Tactics that stand against true authority.
"Nothing. All I heard they have been quiet for about a cycle".
"Huh, that's pretty odd".
"I know. Lately, we got some hit in with the Red Lanterns, and they seem to agree the Yellow lanterns are a bit too quiet. It's like they on vacation or something".
"Could be true. With the duty of using fear as a sole protection it would make sense it may drain you. I'm not saying fear method is good, it just….still".
"Hal, I'm getting a feeling Sinestro is up to something", Kilowog said, "They reported their leader isn't with them. What's with that?"
"He's always up to something", Hal replied, feeling no concern with it, as if it a normal thing, "I'm sure he's out there, acting and calling out more order just to make himself feel better".
"Not like this. We haven't heard of him, not even from the Legion of Doom and his Yellow core buddy".
"Hmm yeah, that does sound pretty odd", This made Hal spark some thoughts on it, but shrugged it, not wanting to be put too much into a bust situation, despite his current being pretty bored to him, "But I'm sure it probably another of his plan that may fail again".
"If you say so", Kilowog said, "Right now, I'm going to return to patrolling my sector. Another bored fest for me".
"Heh, alright then", After the call was finished, Hal kept on scouting.
He began to talk to himself, as he swore around the shooting stars that passed by him, "After this scouting duty, I could return back on Earth, take a hot warming bath, pick a movie to watch for the night and something to eat…..maybe Chinese…..pizza probably?"
Just then, Hal's ring began to glow, alerting him.
"Hmm, what is this?"
It began to flicker, indicating he is near something that is getting his attention.
Wondering what, he kept moving until the flicker became lighter and lighter.
He wonders why it flickers, is it warning him of something? Could be. After all, the ring is everything to a Green Lantern. And he had countless experiences with it.
So knowing full well what the flicker is, he must realize that danger is nearby.
And it's true, as suddenly Hal quickly moves outta the way from a yellow blast.
He looked up and saw him.
It was Sinestro, a yellow lantern and once former friend….to Hal.
"Hello Hal", Sinestro tauntly greets, "Nice to see you still doing your duty. I wasn't expecting to pass by you, but here we are".
"Sinestro", Hal then asked, readying his ring, "What are you doing here? I thought you were with the Yellow Corp?"
"That I am still part of", Sinestro replied, "However, I have plans to do".
"Plans? What plans?"
Sinestro chuckled, "You really are stubborn, aren't you? You think I'll just spill out my plan to you here?"
"No, but I am going to make you".
"Really now? By fear? Please, that would be hypocritical for a Green Lantern. I thought you were more smarter than this, Hal".
"Enough talk!" Hal swung his ring to create a missile of rockets that shot at Sinestro.
Sinestro moves swiftly away, dodging every attack until he retorts back with another blow.
This time, it was a cloud of yellow thunder.
Hal creates a tornado that causes the yellow storm to disappear.
But it was merely a diversion, as Sinestro flew off as Hal pursued him.
"Give it up, Sinestro! Whatever you're doing, it's going to fail!"
"How about you give up as a Green Lantern and join me!" Sinestro replied back.
"As if I'm going to join with someone who committed many atrocities", Hal said, "Give up! Now!"
"Never!" Sinestro throws yellow grenades, as Hal was pushed back from the explosion.
Sinestro was now farthest away from Hal Jordan.
However, as his eyes were caught off guard by seeing Hal surviving and far away from him, he didn't realize he was heading straight into some kind of cosmic storm in space.
The storm in question resembles a white, gas of some sort, with thunder looking like shooting stars.
Sinestro doesn't know what it is, nor does he have time to comprehend it as he was pulled into the huge force.
"Sinestro!" Hal called out, confused by what just happened.
Unfortunately for him he too was pulled into the huge storm itself, as he try to use his ring, but with no avail.
And just like that, the both of them disappeared.
And that's the opening, everyone. I hope all of you enjoy it. It short, but later on there is going to be a lot of action.
