"What the hell's going on?!" Scotty cried as he tightened his grip on the catwalk railing, to keep himself from floating away.

"How should I know?! I left my crystal ball in my room?!" Lexie replied sarcastically as she did the same.

Suddenly Scotty's communicator bleeped, reaching into his pocket he pulled it out and answered it quickly.

"Can this bloody wait!" "No this can't bloody wait Scotty! What the devils going on?!" The person on the other end yelled.

"I'll get back to ya on that one Jim, when I figure it out for myself." "Well hurry up, I want an explanation! Kirk out."

Scotty rolled his eyes as he put his communicator away, "Got any guesses lass?"

"I think somethings up with the artificial gravity computer." Just then instead of floating, they plummeted to the ground.

Landing in a pile, "Ouch! That's going to leave a mark." Scotty muttered as he rubbed his back, "I had a soft landing."

Lexie stated, "That's because you landed on me lass." Scotty replied. "Oops, sorry Scotty." Lexie replied, blushing.

"It's alright Lex, you're not hurt are you?" Scotty asked. "I'm OK, you?" Lexie replied as she picked herself up.

"Bit of a sore back, but I'll be fine. We best fix the artificial gravity, before Kirk really gets mad." Lexie couldn't agree more.

She helped the Scotsman to his feet, then they quickly hurried off towards the artificial gravity computer.

Just then they heard a scream, they knew instantly who it was. "That was Keenser!" Scotty announced as he changed direction.

Lexie just followed, the first problem could wait. Making sure Keenser was alright was more important at the moment.

"Keenser! Where are ya lad?!" Scotty cried, he was hoping for a reply but he didn't get one. Where could he be?

From above them Lexie heard a grunt, so she looked up. "Keenser?!" Lexie quickly tugged on Scotty's arm to get his attention.

The Scotsman looked up and his face turned instantly white, while his heart skipped a beat or possibly several.

Dangling high above them from a pipe was Keenser, normally he would sit on those pipes not dangle from them.

"Hold on Keenser, I'll get ya!" Lexie cried as she rushed over to a section of the pipe which was connected to the floor.

She then felt a hand on her shoulder, Lexie turned to see it was Scotty. "Be careful lass, I don't want you to get hurt."

"Don't worry Scotty I'll be alright." She then scrambled up the pipe, almost like a monkey.

"Bloody hell she got up there fast." Scotty muttered, he had never seen the girl move so fast.

Lexie was now shimmering across the pipe and soon she reached Keenser, quickly she grabbed his wrist.

"I've got ya Keenser." Lexie said with a reassuring smile, her alien friend forced himself to smile back.

It was clear to see that Keenser was absolutely terrified, this was one scary situation to be in.

Suddenly Lexie lost her grip of the Engineers hand, "Keenser!" Lexie screamed.

Thankfully Scotty managed to catch him, how he did that was a mystery to him. In fact he was pretty surprised.

Keenser grunted happily as he wrapped his arms around Scotty's neck, "You're welcome lad."

Scotty gently placed his friend down before looking up at Lexie, "Sorry Keenser." She cried sadly.

"Alright lass, I think you can come down now." "Sure thing Scotty, I'll be right down."

Lexie slowly began to make her way back down the pipe, much to Scotty's delight. He hated seeing her up that high.

But when she was only a few feet from the floor, Lexie slipped.

"Lexie!" Scotty bolted over and dived for her, thankfully catching her before she hit the floor.

"Lass! You OK?!" "I'm fine Scotty, thanks for the save." Lexie replied with a smile.

She was about to get up when once again everything began to float away, the artificial gravity had failed. Again.

"Not again?" Lexie cried as she felt someone tightly grab her wrist, she glanced over to see Scotty clinging onto the pipe.

While Keenser had a death grip of another one, just then Scotty's communicator bleeped once again.

"I'm working on it Jim! So don't get moody with me, we have an issues to deal with first." Scotty yelled in to the device.

"What's more important than the ship having gravity Scotty?!" Kirk yelled back, clearly he was a bit upset.

"Saving Keenser if you must know Jim. Me and Lexie are working on sorting the problem out." Scotty replied.

Kirk didn't reply, his simply cut the transmission. Scotty once again placed his communicator away, just as gravity returned.

"Lets get down to that computer and fix this mess, before Kirk comes down here and bites my head off."

Lexie couldn't agree more, so the three Engineers hurried to their original destination.

It wasn't long before they reached the computer which managed the artificial gravity, clearly something was wrong.

There was strings of error messages on the screen and there were lights flashing frantically.

"Bloody hell, it's gone haywire!" Scotty stated as he began to type away frantically on the screen.

Lexie knelt next to him and removed a panel, exposing the computers wiring.

She was about to speak when sparks shot out from the panel, "Lexie!" Scotty cried as he turned to see her on the floor.

"I'm OK Scotty, lets get this dam thing fixed. Before we float away again." She replied, returning to the open panel.

Several minutes past by before the three Engineers had gotten the computer working again, well almost.

Scotty was about to throw the final switch when the gravity cut out again, "Seriously!" The Scotsman called.

He quickly grabbed hold of the console along with Keenser's wrist, to stop the alien from floating away.

But the same couldn't be said for Lexie, who was already hovering a good distance up.

"I think I prefer how I was able to fly on Cecilia." Lexie joked, "Hold on lass, you'll be down in a sec." Scotty stated.

He lent over and flicked the switch, which in turn re-activated the gravity. Which was suppose to be a good thing, but it wasn't.

Instead of landing where she had once been standing, Lexie was dropped over the edge of the catwalk.

"Dam it!" Lexie yelled as she flew by the catwalk, Scotty felt his heart sink. "Lexie!"

Scotty quickly ran over, cursing himself in his head. "Oh god please no…"

He glanced over the railing to see… Nothing, there was no sign of his young friend. Scotty felt like he was going to cry.

"LEXIE!" Scotty bellowed, was she really gone? Suddenly a voice echoed around the deck, calling out his name.

"Scotty, can I get a hand please?" "Lexie?" On closer inspection the Scotsman could see Lexie clinging to a pipe below.

A huge smile appeared on his face, "Sure thing lass, give me a sec." Scotty faced the computer and flicked the switch again.

He still had a tight hold on the railing, so he wouldn't float away.

Just then Lexie floated up, Scotty reached over and grabbed her hand, quickly pulling her towards him.

He then threw the switch again and the two of them fell to the ground, "Thanks Scotty." Lexie said.

Scotty simply threw his arms around her, "I'm just glad you're alright lass. You gave me a bloody heart attack."

Lexie returned the Scotsman's hug, "Sorry Scotty, didn't mean to."

Once again the CEO's communicator bleeped, which he quickly answered. "Have you fix the gravity yet Scotty?"

Kirk asked, "Yes Jim everything is back to normal, sorry it took a little while." "Never doubted you Scotty, Kirk out."

Scotty chuckled as he placed his communicator back on his belt, then he stood up helping Lexie up as well.

"Now lass, off to sick bay with ya. I want McCoy to check you over."

Lexie smiled, "There's no need for that Scotty, I'm fine." But it seemed the Scotsman wasn't going to take no for an answer.

"Don't make me order you there young lady." Scotty replied, his arms folded.

Lexie couldn't help but chuckle, "I'll go straight there Sir." Before she left Lexie gave him a little wink.

Scotty felt his cheeks blush bright red, he had never sounded more like a dad than that moment.

He still hadn't talk to Lexie about the 'dad' thing, but he knew he had to do it soon. Otherwise McCoy would do it for him.
