Chapter 1

At the age of eight years old, Cassius knew that all he wanted to be was just like his father.

Othello was strong, calm, and friendly when he needed to be. He had a close circle of friends and Cassius was in charge of watching the younger children when they came to visit.

Draco Malfoy, Vincent Crabbe, and Gregory Goyle were already proving to be close friends and misfits. Cassius struggled to get them to behave, but if he could convince Draco to stop with his antics the other two followed suit.

Astrid Hexum was quick to help Cassius out when he needed it. She was a year younger than him but it was obvious to the adults that she had a crush on Cassius.

At the age of eleven he received his letter to Hogwarts. His mother was so proud of him, and his father gave him a handshake of congratulations.

He was proud of himself that his wand was Hawthorn, Dragon Heartstring, nine and one quarter inches long.

When he was sorted into Slytherin he knew his parents were proud of him, and when they sent him a letter of congratulations he was given a broom! He had to keep it at his parents place until his second year though.

When Astrid was sorted into Slytherin he was elated. He may have started to form a crush on her as well. But it was only obvious to their parents.

His first three years were quiet. Slytherin had walked away with the Quidditch Cup and the House cup all three years he was there. And he intended to keep it going.

But that changed when Harry Potter came to school.

Harry Potter had made friends with the Weasley family, a girl with the last name Granger, and another girl who was a metamorphmagus who went by the name Cassie Zwart.

Cassius was intrigued by this new girl. She had a scar on her face even though she changed her hair to every different shade before deciding on pink.

Then she and Harry Potter were both the youngest Quidditch players of the century.

Cassius was jealous that they both were put on the Quidditch team without trying out, but after seeing how they flew he understood. They both had a natural talent for their brooms.

When they got caught outside of curfew and lost their house all those points, putting Slytherin back in the lead.

Cassius had hoped that would be that, but once the rumors spread about the Philosopher's Stone being at Hogwarts;

Harry went to stop it from being used by a bad person.

Cassius had a feeling he knew who it was.

And then the rumor that Cassie had gotten burnt down there. The bandages around her arm proved she did get injured, but no one could see under the bandages, and Cassius really wanted to see it.

Then Dumbledore announced that the Golden Squad had received enough points to tie up with Slytherin. And then Longbottom was given the extra points they needed to get past Slytherin and win the House Cup.

Cassius went home angry, and concerned.

Cassie had gotten hurt and he couldn't help but feel scared for the girl.

When he told his parents what happened, they patted him on the head and said he would do better next year.

Hello! Welcome to this side story! This is going to be a short and quick story explaining what Cassius went through before sacrificing himself. This is an optional story, as of right now I am not going to be including anything that will be used later in the story. This is just a backstory.

For reviews of the last story, I will be acknowledging those in the next story when I post it, so don't worry they're not lost!

I'm looking forward to posting this and for all of us to enjoy this journey together!

Also! Because most of the chapters are short, and I'm hoping to keep this story under fifteen chapters, I will be posting this every two to three days instead of once a week. And the reason for two or three days is so that I have time to proofread one last time. If I did a chapter a day I would be out of chapters fast!
