Shifu was in his room, meditating when he heard a loud HONK and a thud outside his room. The doors were thrown open as he sighed. "What is it?" as he turned around. It turned out to be Zeng. "M-Master Shifu! A letter arrived for you and the others!" he cried, holding out a scroll. Master Shifu took the scroll and unraveled it, his eyes widening as he scanned it over. He needed to find the Furious Five and Dragon Warrior immediately.
Meanwhile, the Five and Po were enjoying some Secret Ingredient Noodle Soup while talking with each other. "So then, Monkey went like WA-TAH! And Viper sneaked in and BAM!" Po exclaimed. "We took them out easily!" Po proudly said. The others laughed at his retelling of the story of when Monkey, Viper, and Po had recently gone on a mission in Gongmen City to help the Masters Council with a bandit overload.
"Students! I have urgent news." They all turned to see Master Shifu in the doorway holding an important-looking scroll. We have gotten an invitation from the Tianjin Dongli masters to have a tournament against them." Shifu told them, watching their faces for their initial reactions.
"The Tianjin Dongli? The masters that defeated a thousand wolves of Hubei? THOSE MASTERS?!" Po shrieked, starting his fan antics all over again
Everyone just gave him a strange look and rolled their eyes jokingly. "Yes Dragon Warrior, those masters. We've been invited to come to Hubei and hold a public tournament against them. It's up to us to accept or decline." Shifu explained. "Why wouldn't we accept?" Viper questioned. "Yeah, it's not like we will lose anything if we accept, right?" Crane asked. "That's right, and it doesn't seem to be a trick or anything. I say we accept it." Tigress suggested. The others all agreed, and Zeng was sent to Hubei with a scroll with their acceptance written in it.
"We should make the trip very soon, Hubei is a ways away from here. Go ahead and pack up after you all finished dinner, we leave early tomorrow." Shifu walked away. "WOOHOOO! This is going to be AWESOME!" Po pumped his fist in the air. "Can we finish eating these noodles now before they get cold?" Mantis chuckled. Everyone laughed and went back to their dinner.
In Hubei, a wolf named Cai received their acceptance scroll and chuckled as he read it over. "This is going to be almost too easy…"
The next morning, the gong rang at the same time as normal. "Good morning Master Shifu!" They all stepped outside their rooms. "Good morning students, I am guessing you all are already packed?" He got nods confirming that and he smiled. "Go get breakfast and then we will leave. Over breakfast, they talked about how awesome the tournament was going to be. After breakfast, they all gathered with their luggage at the top of the steps. They started the trek down the thousand steps. "Wait! I gotta say bye to my dad first!" Po ran into the noodle shop while the others waited outside. "Oh, Po! Where are you going?" squawked. "We're going to a Kung Fu tournament Dad!" Po exclaimed. "That's awesome! Make sure to do your best! I'll have to run the shop alone though…" He trailed off. "Yeah, sorry about that dad. You'll be fine though. Well, I gotta go! Bye, dad!" Po left the noodle shop. "Took ya long enough." Mantis snickered. "Enough talking, let's get going," Tigress said.
They traveled through the village, to the bamboo forest. They had to climb a lot, which was simple for some and difficult for others. They headed through the mountains, with 'snack stops' along the way.
"Woah!" They all said as the city was very beautiful and busy. There were wolves, bunnies, ducks, snakes, and more. As they walked through, they got stares from citizens in awe. "The furious five and dragon warrior are here!" An ox walked up to them and asked, "are you here for the Tianjin Dongli?" "Yes, we are!" Crane confirmed. "Perfect, I will take you to the palace then."
As they walked to the palace, they saw how huge it was… and also how many stairs it had. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" Po yelled, "Not again!"
Everyone else laughed while Po groaned. They started the trek up the stairs, thankful there weren't as many as at the Jade Palace. When they got to the top, the masters were waiting for them.
