AN: Happy anniversary to three great queer couples! Here's my first fic for Glimbow Week.
This is based on another work of mine, Wild Heart, which you don't really need to read, but it would be helpful. Basically, Catra escaped the Horde and is a forest-dweller who Bow adopted as his sister when they were children called The Cat.
Enjoy!

C'yra didn't know much about love. But she knew what it felt like. It's the look in Bow's eyes when she granted him a rare smile, or the warmth in her chest when he hugged her, even as she scoffed and struggled to get free. It's allowing Lance and George to dress her in clean clothes and sit her down at the dinner table, just watch them glow with happiness. It was the song her mother sang to her every bedtime, the one she still whispered in her native language to herself some nights as she lay under the stars.

She knew that ache in her heart, the festering open wound, was love too. It's the absence of love, that horrible hole that hadn't healed since the day those terrible Sapiens tried to take her and shot her mother in cold blood. Her mother's love had been so warm, but it left her cold when it was gone. It feels so good when you have it and freezes you from the inside out when it's gone.

There were no words to express how losing her mother felt. Why even try?

Still, sometimes Bow made her want to try. He had so much love that he was willing to give it to a feral kitten, a wild animal as he believed at the time. While C'yra did her best to stay away from people, horde what little love she had to protect her shattered heart, Bow handed pieces of his heart around freely. Bow loved C'yra even through the language barrier and species difference. It was an easy but deep kind of brotherly love that even she, who had loved so minimally over the years, could understand.

That girl, though. He loved her too. C'yra could see it in the way they interacted so seamlessly. For all her love illiteracy, she knew what it looked like. It was a different kind, but Bow's love was never hidden like hers and she could see it from a mile away. As they walked through the Brightmoon grounds or along the paths in the Woods, their simple smiles and effortless connection showcased a bond that C'yra had only seen between George and Lance before.

Despite feeling like a voyeur at times, she guarded them as they traversed her territory. She wanted to understand this other side of Bow's love, the side she never felt and saw so little of. Every time she saw them, always keeping her distance out of respect and a little fear of this Sapien girl she didn't know, his love for the girl seemed bigger. Before long, C'yra saw it in the girl too.

She and Bow seemed to be reaching out to each other across a chasm, but neither could see the other's hand through the fog. Neither knew the other was reaching and assumed their grasp would only meet air if they ever dared bridge the gap. But from her place above it all, C'yra could see that whatever strange love Bow had for the girl, she felt it too. Still, neither reached any further, and they remained inches apart, fingertips nearly touching.

It got almost painful to watch at times. The two idiots had no idea they were so close to each other as they stumbled through the fog calling each other's name. C'yra would have pulled them together herself if she had any clue how. Luckily for C'yra's sanity, the day came when Bow went for one of his walks in the Woods, and she could see in his glow that he had finally completed the connection. She came down from her place in the trees and they shared a delightful afternoon. That's when she learned the girl's name for the first time, after so long watching them together.

Glimmer.

From the way he talked about her, C'yra briefly considered if she should be jealous. After all, C'yra was the only girl in Bow's life for most of his childhood. What if he only needed one girl and decided to ditch her for this new sparkly one? But even as he talked about Glimmer, he was with C'yra, sharing his thoughts with her and telling her everything and nothing. His completed connection with Glimmer hadn't changed anything in his relationship with C'yra, so she let the notion fly away on the wind as best she could.

That didn't make Glimmer part of her accepted-Sapiens list by a long shot. The list currently had under ten people on it, and all of them were from Bow's immediate family. She didn't even include some of his more absent brothers. This girl was going to have to show that she could be trusted.

And one day, she did.

He's here... The Woods whispered. C'yra looked up from her food and saw the forest shift, showing her the way. She hopped into a tree and jumped between branches, letting the Woods guide her.

"-risk you escaping." C'yra slowed, listening as she came within hearing range. It didn't sound like anyone she knew, let alone Bow. Just a soldier stupid enough to wander into the forest despite the rumors. She would take care of him soon enough; until then, she had prey to cure.

She started to turn around when-

"Help! I'm in distress!" Bow's voice came from the same place as soldiers. She stopped in her tracks, frozen. Her brother was in trouble.

"We're in the Woods, kid. No one around for miles." The soldier chuckled. C'yra growled and dashed toward them.

"HELP!" Bow called louder. They came into view as the leaf cover started thinning, and C'yra immediately scrambled behind the trunk of the tree she was in. The girl was there too. She couldn't show herself with Glimmer around.

Then, if Glimmer was there, how was Bow in danger? C'yra expected that Glimmer would protect her brother when she couldn't be herself. She peered around the edge of the trunk and saw Glimmer on the ground, tired and afraid. But not for herself.

The soldier wasn't threatening her, at least not right then. He was threatening Bow, and Glimmer looked like she would rather be on the receiving end of the danger. C'yra moved so that she could watch them but not be seen.

"You're annoying me. You can go first." The soldier threatened. Her tail twitched but the rest of her felt frozen. She only had two rules, protect Bow and never be seen, but now she couldn't honor one without breaking the other!

"NO!" Glimmer yelled as the soldier lifted his weapon. C'yra jumped onto the tree right above him and crotched in position.

At that moment, perched above the soldier threatening her brother, C'yra locked eyes with him when he noticed her. Bow's eyes were windows into his heart in a way she could never understand, but she saw he was reassuring her. He trusted Glimmer, and he thought C'yra should too. It was safe for her to be seen. It was so clear in his eyes that Bow did love her, and he loved Glimmer in a different but powerful way. That was enough.

Cyra leapt from the foliage, showing herself to a new Sapien for the first time in over a decade, and did what she did best. Attacked.

AN: I figured the Whisperings Woods could actually whisper.
Love is great. Now, I don't want to see any Bowtra in the comments, okay? They're siblings. That being said, drop a comment and let me know what you think! Hope you enjoyed this, see you tomorrow with more Glimbow, and have a lovely rest of She-Ra day!
