Chapter 1: Why
When Noah Puckerman woke up in the hospital, he could feel a small hand holding his, and heard the voice of Liza Marie Anderson say, "Uncle Nono, can you see me?" Noah clears his throat before saying, "No, I can't. What happened?" Then Noah hears Quinn ask, "Don't you remember anything, Puck?" Noah just says, "The only thing I remember was that Z almost kill Kurt and Blaine at Rachel's. Before I tried to get the gun away from him." Then Liza Marie says, "Their all dead and I am living with Auntie Queenie! G' Pa Burt is in a deep sleep along with Auntie Tana, and so is Uncle Pooper! Uncle Pooper saved me and Auntie Queenie!"
Then Noah hears Burt say, "Puck, I just woke up too and we are sharing a room. Then Quinn says, "Sorry, Puck and Mr. H. you missed the funeral and I moved into Mr. H's old house that had the basement bedroom. Ha, the basement staircase is now a ramp that leads to Liza Marie's new room. Um, Puck, you were shot in the head and back." Then Liza Marie says, "You still have your legs and you were my shield from getting hit before Auntie Queenie got me out."
Soon Noah says, "Mr. H., would you like to move in with us? Look, I know I'm not Kurt or Finn here. But you are Liza Marie's Grandpa and I will need somebody two be my eyes when Liza Marie starts to date." Then Liza Marie says, "Daddy Nono, G' Pa taught me how to use a shotgun and what if G' Pa goes blind before I start to date? Did you think of that?" This makes Noah say with a raised eyebrow, "I can just have machine guns rigged to motion sensors. Did you ever think of that, young lady?" Before Burt says, "I think your new daddy's gotcha there, Kiddo." and he hears the sound of her climbing his bed before he feels her hand holding his. Then he feels her lay her head on his chest before she just breaks down.
Santana woke up a week later and Cooper died the same day. Since Liza Marie had already been through her dads' funerals. Her Granpa Patrick thought it was best that she didn't go. So no one even told her about him dying, but she did find out when she was watching TV on the day of the funeral. She didn't come out of her room for days after that and when Noah and Burt were allowed to go home. Burt went to check on her and saw her sleeping with a photo album lying next to her. As he put Liza Marie to bed and put the photo album on her nightstand. He says, "Sorry, Kiddo." As he leaves the room she says, "Z is a big dumb meanie, G'Pa Burt. Why did he have to kill people we love?" Burt didn't have an answer so he just says, "I don't know, Kiddo. Now, get some sleep."
When Burt went into the living room, he heard Noah outside yelling at someone saying, "You have ten seconds to get off my property, Assholes!" Then he heard machine guns going off and someone yells, "Holy shit! Let's get outta here! Move, move, move!" Before he heard tires squealing. This made him chuckle as Noah comes back in with Quinn behind him. Then Quinn says, "Puck, bought the house before he went overseas and set up the security system. I didn't know the code to turn it on and have been dealing with punk kids egging the house."
Soon there was a knock at the door and Burt answers seeing an old lady. The old lady introduced herself as Ester Turner and asked Noah if he would like to be part of the neighborhood watch. Noah agreed and after Ester left, they busted out laughing. Before Quinn says, "I swear I thought she was going to say something about calling the cops or something!" Noah and Burt tried to stifle their laughter as they said, "Same here." In unison.
