Author's note: I had this little plot bunny roll around in my head for a tiny bit so decided to write it down. For right now it's only going to be a short story that I might make longer. I don't know yet due to words and me not getting along. Some of the characters go a little out of character and some events get tweaked a little bit. This story starts during episode 3 while the girls go to interview for an internship at Zhen Yi Technologies. More notes explaining why I did what I did are to follow at the end.
...and as always, I own nothing.
On with the story.
After the short conversation with Xiao Nai while he was waiting for his friend in the bathroom had bolstered Meng Yiran to drag her cousin down with her to watch Xiao Nai and his friend leave the building. What she did not expect the moment that she got off the elevator was to see Xiao Nai staring at Bei Weiwei who was sitting in the lobby with the other internship hopefuls. 'Why is Xiao Nai staring at Bei Weiwei like that? He hardly looked at me when we were talking and I'm much prettier than she is . The campus forum said so.' Her anger flared and which caused her to do something that she hadn't done in public since she was a child. She picked up the closest thing to her which happened to be an empty mug sitting on the reception desk and flung it with all her strength in the direction of Bei Weiwei. Unfortunately for Meng Yiran her aim was on point and she actually hit the unassuming classmate in the temple. Meng Yiran did not realize what she did until she saw Xiao Nai rushing to the fallen Bei Weiwei. She did not even notice that her dear cousin, Zhen Shaoxiang roughly grabbing her arm.
"Are you crazy?" Zhen Shaoxiang He hissed. "Throwing a mug into a crowd like that. Do you realize that you hit someone?" He demanded.
Meng Yiran numbly watched as Xiao Nai hoisted the unconscious Bei Weiwei into his arms and rushed out of the lobby. She hadn't heard her cousin or noticed people were snapping photos. All she registered was Bei Weiwei in the arms of the man that she had feelings of and she was the cause of it. The campus beauty continued to stare blankly as she was roughly led away from the scene of the crime by her cousin.
As Xaoi Nai sat by the unconscious beauty in the hospital bed thinking of the events that lead up to him in the same hospital room as his online wife. She was prettier than he remembered from the brief glance that he had in his uncle's Internet Cafe. Even with the bruise forming on her temple. He had yet to learn her name. Yu Banshan had called her the department bell and was about to say her name when she was hit. It took a quick scan to see where the projectile came from and who had launched it. He would deal with the guilty party later. All that mattered was his wife as he called her in his head was injured and he needed to get her to a hospital quickly. He had Yu Banshan had driven them to the hospital near the campus and was speaking to the medical staff as Xaoi Nai transferred his wife's form to a hospital stretcher. After the brief separation as the nurses and the doctor checked her over he learned that the patient should be okay but will have a major headache when she wakes up, whenever that would be. He sat there for what felt like hours gentilly moping Luwei Weiwei's brow with a cool damp cloth until the beauty finally opened her eyes. At first she seemed confused and her eyes widened in shock as she registered who was leaning over her. Xiao Nai hid his reaction to Weiwei opening her eyes and continued to carefully mop her brow. "A mug was thrown and hit you in the head. How are you feeling?" he softly asked.
"Senior Xiao Nai?" she stuttered. Still not quite registering what was going on.
"You know my name?" Xiao Nai asked and Weiwei nervously replied by nodding in the affirmative. "Does your head hurt?" he asked with her reply another shy nod. Which caused the senior classmate to smile at his online wife's shy reaction. He could only hope that she would be this adorable when he would be able to tease her when she was not injured. "Luwei Weiwei" Xiao Nai started.
"Luwei Weiwei? Ho-how do you know that name?" Weiwei interrupted with completely shocked to be called her gamer handle in real life. Especially being called her gamer handle by someone as grand as Senior Xiao Nai. She was after all just an unimportant underclassmen.
Xiao Nai could not help but give another little amused smile "Weiwei, while we are not in game at the moment but I do know who my wife is by site. Even though I have yet to find out what my dear wife's true name is."
"Yixiao Naihe?" Weiwei uttered in complete shock barely registering Xiao Nai's smile widening and his nod confirming it. 'This was just too much to process. Xiao Nai is Yixiao Naihe. She is in game married to Senior Xiao Nai. How did this happen?' Weiwei tried to compute it, she really tried but with the painful ringing in her head and this bomb the only thing that ran through her head was '404 Weiwei not found' over and over again.
Xiao Nai took pity on her and caressed her cheek. "I will leave you to rest but first may I get your name?"
"My name?" Weiwei dumbly asked. To which the man in front of her smiled again and nodded. "Bei Weiwei." she whispered causing Xiao Nai's smile to widen.
"Well Bei Weiwei, get some rest I will return soon." Xiao Nai stood up and made his way to the waiting room so he could speak with Yu Banshan and also do some research. He did not pay any mind to the young man with the shocked face and grey suit as he passed him.
'Luwei Weiwei, is not a bio-man. She is a girl. A very beautiful girl… A very beautiful girl that my cousin threw a mug at and hit. In the lobby of my father's company. I don't understand. If Luwei Weiwei was so pretty, why didn't she share her picture when I asked for it?' Zhen Shaoxiang stood dumbfounded trying to make sense of everything he overheard from outside his in game ex-wife's hospital room. Zhen Shaoxiang had only come to formally appologize for his cousin's temper tantrum and hopefully try to keep his family member's outburst underwraps. But how could he face Luwei Weiwei knowing who she is? He needed to 's what he'd do. He would go back to his office and grill his cousin about everything she knew about his game ex-wife and her new in game husband. After all, Meng Yiran had to know more about the two for her to react the way she did.
Author's Notes Continued: Well that's it, for now? I'm not sure I will have to see if this little plot bunny would let me continue or not. I would like to continue and bring the both Weiwei's along Nai's roommates and Cao Guang into the story; I am just not sure on where to go just yet.
The whole idea for this story is Weiwei and Xiao Nai abruptly meet up and Nai learns Weiwei's name from her instead of from his roommate and then I went through where there was a possibility to meet unconventionally. I did not originally plan to have Meng Yiran throw a mug (I originally had their meeting a lot less violent) but after recently rewatching the show it hit me that Meng Yiran acted like someone I knew that used to have temper tantrums and throw stuff. I don't hate Meng Yiran, she's just a little spoiled and very misguided. I just want her to come to terms with her behavior sooner rather than later and drop the toxic friends that she surrounds herself with. I also do not hate Zhen Shaoxiang as a character well, at least not in the tv show. But like his cousin, he is also spoiled, misguided, and surrounding himself with toxic people. I see room for growth for both characters once they realise how they act and what causes them to act the way they do.
