Bluefur's Difficult Choice

Summary

After having her kits and remembering the prophecy that Goosefeather had told her, Bluefur finds herself torn between raising her kits in ThunderClan, or giving them to her mate, Oakheart, and becoming deputy to save her Clan from a blood thirsty Thistleclaw. We all know what she chose in the end, but what if she had come up with an idea that would solve both of her problems? What will Bluefur's final choice be? And will it save everyone from destruction and despair? Or will everything go horribly wrong for all the cats involved?

Prologue

I knew that ThunderClan's deputy, Tonyspots was never going to get better, and that means that Sunstar will have to choose a new deputy soon. I sighed softly to myself as I looked down at my three kits, who were all curled up sleeping peacefully, they were much to young to understand what our Clan was going through at the moment.

I sighed once more and quietly stood to my paws, being careful not to wake my kits, I quietly patted out of the nursery and made my way to the Fresh-kill pile, I hadn't eaten anything yet today, and I didn't want a lecture from Goosefeather about my health and how I need to eat.

"Hi, Bluefur. So you finally came out of the nursery to eat something? Good job." I turned my head to see my best friend, Rosetail, sitting outside of the warriors den, she motioned with her tail for me to come over. I patted over and took a seat next to my friend, it was still early, so cats were just coming out of their dens.

"You know Bluefur, I'm surprised how well Mosskit's doing in this weather. She's so small and skinny that at first, I thought she wouldn't make it through the night." Rosetail admitted, looking down at her paws as her tail swished back and forth.

"Yeah, I thought so to. But Mosskit's a fighter, she won't give up that easily. She'll make a great warrior with that kind of strength and willpower." I meowed, and Rosetail smiled and nodded her head in agreement.

"Morning Rosetail. Morning Bluefur." We both looked up to see Sunstar patting out of his den beneath the Highrock. Me and Rosetail dipped our heads to the ThunderClan leader as he went to go speak with Goosefeather and Featherwhisker about how Tonyspots was doing.

"Where's Stormtail, Tigerpaw and Thistleclaw?" I asked, turning back to look at Rosetail, who answered after a few moments of silence.

"There out hunting, Whitepaw, Spottedpaw, Willowpaw and Redpaw are still asleep in the apprentice's den." Rosetail meowed, and I slowly nodded before a frown formed on my face.

"What's wrong?" She asked, staring at me with concerned eyes. I sighed softly and shook my head to clear my mind.

"It's nothing." I replied, but Rosetail didn't look convinced. I sighed again and stared right back at her, we just stood there for so long that I thought she was having a staring contest with me.

"Well, I just thought that Spottedpaw wanted to be a medicine cat? Did she change her mind at the last second or something?" I asked, and Rosetail nodded in response to all of my questions.

"Yeah, she did. She doesn't have a mentor yet, hay, I think you could mentor her when your kits are old enough to leave the nursery." Rosetail exclaimed excitedly, and I laughed quietly and shook my head.

"I highly doubt that." I say, rolling my eyes at my friend and she returned the favor by playfully cuffing me over the ears.
