Hey, my first NaruSasu fic! Constructive Critisicm would be appreciated.
"It's not hopeless!" Yelled nineteen-year old Naruto to Sasuke, both who were standing on the edge of the cliff, right above the Hokage sculptures.
"You know you love Sakura-chan, so no biggie there, right? What're you so startled for?"
Sasuke glared at the young, dense man intensively. He was gruelled, explaining for the billionth time that he is not straight but unambiguously in love in Naruto.
"Naruto," Sasuke said softly. "What does a young and fierce man do for love? Are we imbeciles to back off?"
"I don't think so." Naruto retorted impassively. "Sasuke, will you cut to the chase? I don't understand."
Sasuke gave a defeated sigh. 'You sore loser! I can't be direct about this!'
He slapped his palm against his forehead.
"Naruto, how much do you want me to elaborate?!" Sasuke blustered. "You've completed two whole years of education," He averted his face. "Well of course. I hadn't expect you not to slack off anyway-"
"Don't put it all on me just because you're too bottled up!"
Sasuke snarled. Getting his guts together sevenfold, he tightened his fists. "Naruto...I'm not attracted to Sakura..." he quavered, as though in embarrassment.
Naruto looked baffled. "But you heartily accepted her proposal! And now you're jumping to another girl?"
"It's not that. I can't get attracted to Sakura! Anyone like Sakura!"
"Sasuke," Naruto said softly. "Sakura-chan has had a liking for you for years! She's been so loyal to you. She never gave up on you. It's really hard to take in considering how much you always resented her-"
"Baka!" Sasuke groaned. "Don't lay it thick. I don't hate Sakura."
Had a villager been around them, snooping, would've vented about how cute it is when these two argue.
Naruto breathed through his gritted teeth in defeat.
"Naruto, when I say 'I can't get attracted to people like her' what comes to your mind?"
Naruto thought for a moment, rubbing his fingers under his chin. "You probably have a thing for another girl?"
"And what if I remind you, that Sakura is a girl?"
Naruto's expression was goofy at the first, but startled at the next. "Wait- SASUKE-"
"So you finally got it, eh?" He smirked, looking away. "It's about time I came out."
Naruto gawked goofily at Sasuke. "Come out, you say…of a relationship you mean?"
Sasuke gave Naruto the most baffled look.
"AH! So that's it!" Naruto yelled, pointing at him. "You want to take your relationship with her on another level, but you're a nervous-wrack and you think Sakura-chan will be in denial! So that's why it's hopeless!"
Sasuke gaped at him incredulously. How can anyone be this dense?
"No way! That's not it! Baka, I told you I can't get attracted to Sakura!"
"Say, say, what's so wrong in girls like Sakura-chan anyway? I mean I'm not attracted to her either, but she seems fine." His voice was now filled with strenuosity and frustration.
"You're a hopeless case, after all." Sasuke sighed defeatedly. "I guess I'll be direct about it."
He walked towards him. "Naruto, I'm gay." He said, turning scarlet.
Naruto just gazed at him dumbfoundedly and muttered a 'huh'. It was typical of him. He was so startled, his mouth refused to speak.
One second…
Two seconds…
Fifteen seconds…
"NAANNNIII?!" He hollered on top of his voice. For some furtive reason, the voice was filled with glee and happiness.
Sasuke scoffed. "This took you a million years. I tried to explain in it every indirect way possible. But your brain just wouldn't capture it."
Naruto dropped a sweat. "No, it's just…it was unexpected. But Sasuke, you accepted Sakura's proposal. What for?"
Sasuke averted his face. "I wasn't sure that time. Few days later, it was a certain something that made me realize that I'm not straight."
Naruto eyed him suspiciously with a drop of sweat. "Let's uh…get to Sakura-chan?"
Nodding reluctantly, Sasuke was trapped in an atmosphere of bewilderment and mixed feelings. The only answer to a 'why' would be none other than Naruto Uzumaki.
The scene was cumbersome and speechless. They walked on and on beside eachother without uttering a single word. But Sakura wasn't the only reason: they were the mixed feelings of confronting Sakura, reassure her, to deal with her feelings and then the ones of his own. How on earth was he supposed to confess to Naruto anyway?
"Hey, Sasuke," Naruto said, breaking the silence. "Who's the guy…you're attracted to?"
Sasuke gasped.
"I mean, obviously, from the way you explained it…I just thought…it has to be someone, right?"
Sasuke tried to give Naruto a stoic look. "Naruto-"
"Sasuke-kun!" Came a girl's voice, with rose-colored hair. She turned scarlet. "Sasuke-kun, I thought we'd look around for a while. I have so many things to tell you! And-" she paused, realizing Naruto was standing before her eyes.
"Naruto? I thought you were on a mission? A B-rank mission?"
Naruto grimaced. "Uh, no. It was until yesterday…"
Sakura grinned. "I see. So you and Sasuke were wandering around." She exclaimed. "Then, Sasuke-kun, tell me whenever you get free. I'll talk to you then."
Naruto and Sasuke exchanged worrisome looks.
Sakura spout a confused gasp. "Is there something wrong?"
Naruto looked down, as though it was him who had been guilt tripped. But he just couldn't help it. Sakura's love and concern for Sasuke was so conspicuous, he just didn't want to break it to her.
Sakura raised an eyebrow. "Naruto?"
Sasuke realized that it was going be the worst and the most awkward situation without a doubt.
"Sakura-chan…" Naruto muttered. "Sasuke has something to tell you…"
Sasuke shook his head. "I can't do it. Tell her yourself."
Naruto gulped. He thought it was a pretty impetuous move, but it was an upcoming now or never.
"Sakura-chan, come to Ichiraku Ramen. I'll tell you everything."
"What about-"
"Please!" He begged and hauled her along. He was unafraid at this moment of her brutal strength. The only thing which intimidated him was her reaction.
Half-way through the suburbs, Sakura let go off her arm. "Naruto! What do you want? I was talking to Sasuke-kun!"
"Sakura-chan…"
"Are you 'escorting' me to a date with you?"
"No!" He hollered. "Just listen to me, okay? Lay down!"
Sakura backed off a little. Naruto walked over to her.
"Sasuke…Sasuke…" he mumbled. "He doesn't- feelthesamewayaboutyou." He gushed up the last sentence, making it totally ambiguous to Sakura.
"I…beg your pardon?"
Getting his guts together sevenfold, he finally blurted. "Sakura-chan, Sasuke doesn't feel the same way about you…because he's gay."
Sakura's eyes widened. She gasped silently. Her eyes glistened in melancholy.
"You need to understand Sakura-chan. He's not attracted to girls. He's gay…"
Sakura gasped loudly and shot her head up. "That makes it even more ridiculous to accept my proposal in the first place! Tell me, Naruto! You probably know why he accepted it!"
Naruto was the ground's opposite pole with his eyes attached to it. "He was probably unsure. He thought he'd like you...until he saw something in a guy. Days and days later, he concluded and...what you call...coming out."
Sakura sobbed incessantly. Naruto tenderly hugged her in his arms, giving sweet consolations.
"Take me to him," Sakura said feebly.
Although unsure, Naruto decided to give her space and bring her whatever she wants.
Naruto gasped out loud when Naruto and Sakura walked towards him. Given Sakura's expression, he figured that Naruto had already done his part and now it was by any means, his turn.
"Sasuke, I leave it up to you." Naruto casually walked off.
Things spread like breeze, whether they are rumours. It has seemed so that the crowd surreptitiously heard Naruto and Sakura's conversation, like snobs. But it wasn't their fault either. After all, the duo wasn't soft at all. But what was stunning was their homophobic reaction.
"Naruto, that Sasuke is gay? Why are you even letting him in the village? It's disgraceful!" A goon yelled across. Naruto brushed him away.
"Naruto-kun," an admirer said. "Come on! You saved the village! You should care about the village's reputation!"
Naruto was boiling up inside. "Shut up already!" He turned, balling is fists. "So what? So what if he's gay? He's still human! Just because he isnt all of you, doesn't mean you treat him like an outcast!"
Backing off and loosening up a little, he continued, "I'm actually glad he isnt any of you."
Everyone gasped. The sweet Naruto, who fought as a great leader in the Fourth Great Ninja War, earning his fame, had just badmouthed his own villagers. Given his attitude, would the villagers now diminish his fame?
"Naruto!" A villager yelled. "Not only Sasuke, I guess you're as much of a disgrace!"
"I just don't get you! Why're you so homophobic? What's wrong in being gay? How would you feel if I resented you just because you were a little different, huh?" He cried.
"You wouldn't get it! I've had experience myself, as a jinchuriki. We all were hated on, resented on and most of all, surrounded by nothing but solitude! If you cant accept Sasuke for who he is, then I can't accept you as villagers! Would you start hating on a friend when you find out he's gay? How would you feel? Imagine, parents not letting their kid in for not being straight! Would you not support that friend of yours? If you cant, then I'm surprised this village even came this far!"
"Naruto…" Shikamaru, who was watching the scene, whispered to himself. "Looks like the feelings are reciprocated."
"As villagers, as the shinobi of our village, we need to work despite our differences. We need to put them aside. Isnt that what we did for the Great Ninja War?"
Naruto couldn't stop sobbing and ranting. What has the world come to?
"Sakura…I cant…do anything about it…"
"Why did you accept my proposal, then? I want to hear it from you!" Sakura cried.
"I just…wasn't sure. I-I mean, you were pretty fine, I thought I'd fall for you anyway." Sasuke quavered. "Sakura, please stop the crying."
Sakura empathically ended her weeping with a loud sigh. "Fine then. Have you confessed to Naruto yet?"
Sasuke shook his head. "I don't know how he feels."
"You wouldn't know unless you ask, right? Come on, let's ask him."
The villagers were strenuous and refuting. For the first time, Naruto's words had no affect on the evils.
As Sasuke and Sakura walked, they witnessed a sense of tension near Ichiraku Ramen.
"What's happening?"
"It doesn't seem good. Let's go!"
Naruto snarled at the crowd around them. To his luck, Shikamaru, Choji, Ino and Hinata had lent him a hand.
"Naruto, what the hell happened?!" Sasuke hollered.
"Just dealing with these-" Ino paused, dodging the hit. "-these homophobic bastards."
"Homophobic? Don't tell me-"
A gay person lead to the civil fight. Just one, gay teen, wanting to live his own life, interjected by hatred. Although a being a jinchuriki would be fathomable, liking someone doesn't deserve any hatred.
Kakashi gawked at the despicable crowd. "Looks like I have to go there myself…"
Approaching there in the speed of light, as the current Hokage, he didn't oppress any side, nor took any. It was his duty to just maintain peace. The conflict was terminated for that period.
Sasuke, Naruto and Sakura walked away over the sculptures.
Sighing, the blondie said, "I wonder how Shikamaru and the others are taking this thing…"
"I don't know. Today just isnt our day…"
Naruto let out a small gasp as he turned towards Sakura. "Sakura-chan, you're doing well now?"
Sakura winked and grinned. "Yeah! And it's time for Sasuke-kun to make a move!"
"Huh?"
"Sakura-"
Sakura fled with a grin.
"What did she mean? Make a move on what?"
Sasuke scoffed. His confidence was sevenfold now, so he has the courage to say it.
"Naruto, you asked me who that certain person was."
Naruto nodded.
"It's you."
His eyed widened. "You're…serious?"
Sasuke smirked. "Baka. I wouldn't be joking at this point now. But, you don't feel the same way, do you?"
Naruto shook his head. "Who told you that? I've been pumping these feelings in my heart for years now, ya know?!"
Sasuke walked towards Naruto. "I didn't."
He almost leaned in for a kiss.
"Wait, Sasuke," Naruto said. "The village wont ever consider us as a part."
"Like I care about the village. My love for you is more important."
That's when he leaned for a passionate, deep kiss. They kissed for several seconds before grinning at eachother, not only as best friends, but perpetual lovers.
