Hedwig
Here is Mr. Dursley bursting out again on Harry. I can never do anything as I am locked in this concrete cage. I bang my feathers onto the cage so that Harry can set me free, but instead it fuels Mr. Dursley's ferocity. I wish I could turn his gloominess into contentment just by bringing him the letters from his pals but here I am instead, just hooting and screeching. I can hear their conversations and sense what is happening downstairs. Dudley is probably asking Harry to pass him food and his mother would be offering him more food. As usual, Mr Dursley would be staring at Harry with those large cunning eyes. He must be yearning for the comfort that he obtained from Hogwarts. Sometimes I don't understand why the Dursleys are rude to Harry, I mean he is so generous towards everyone, even to an owl. He has reached out to his wand at times to unlock the cage, however he has remembered that underage wizards aren't allowed to use magic outside the school. Even though I am in the cage, I feel relief about the fact that Harry is still with me, someone whose situation is relatable and who has a common destination as mine i.e. being free out of our cage. I wonder whether Harry and I have to spend all the summers like this.
While they are having breakfast, there is a discussion regarding a dinner party that the Dursleys are going to have with Mr and Mrs Mason. Mr Dursley is going to get a huge order from Mr Mason so he is preparing the whole family for it. He starts assigning the roles to everyone.
"Starting off with you Petunia, so you will be in the lounge welcoming the guests", says Mr Dursley and Petunia nods in agreement.
Mr Dursley switches his gaze towards Dudley to instruct him. "So, you will open the door and take care of their belongings like their coats", orders Mr Dursley.
"Okay!", replies Dudley.
And you Potter, "I'll stay in my room and act like I don't exist", Harry replies instantly.
Dudley
Well that's obvious Harry never meant anything to us, especially to me. Even when he is at home, I can't sense his presence. Sometimes he makes me feel special because my parents don't pay any attention to him at all, the amount of love that they pour on me is the same quantity of deteststation we have towards him.
That nasty boy is walking towards the garden through the back door and I start following him. He was sitting on the bench peering at the hedge.
I clear my throat and say, "I am aware that today is your birthday and I am not surprised that you didn't receive any cards or letters because nobody wants to be friends with you".
Harry still fixes his gaze at the hedge, a few minutes back he saw large emerald eyes staring at him and it vanished when Dudley appeared.
"Good that you know, but let me tell you that I do have friends back at Hogwarts", Harry replies firmly.
"I don't think so", I say, refusing to believe him.
This boy shouldn't have come back to our house, he is such a trouble. Well it's okay at least he can help my mom with her chores. I hope he doesn't mess up today's dinner party or else dad will make him pay the price.
"Anyways, why were you looking at the hedge"? I ask skeptically.
"Ah, I am just wondering which spell I can use to burn the hedge", he replies playfully.
Wait what he is trying to do magic,"Mom, this boy is doing m-m-magic and wants to destroy the garden", I complain.
Mrs Petunia who was watching the boys through the window knows that these statements are false.
She calls Harry and cautions, "Don't try these tricks to fool my son, you better do the chores or else you'll have to stay hungry".
It's so fun watching him do all the chores plus to get him scoldings. It is such a treat to eat ice cream, have your mom by your side and to watch a filthy boy do all the dirty things. After finishing his chores he has his pudding and immediately makes his way to his room as the Dursleys expect.
