Chapter 1- Awake

Bucky wakes up from what seems like the long dream in his life, which funny because most pf his live feel like a dream or nightmare to be frank. He looks around the well lit room, there were people in lab coats and he assumed they were doctors, Bucky did not have a lot of good experiences with people in lab coats. He try to sit in bed and one of the doctors approach him no doubt to stop him from moving. " Good morning, Sergeant Barnes. My name is Dr. Akhona Makeba, I am in charge of your treatment in the Princess's absent. Do you know where you are?" A tall dark skin lady said with a smile. all of a sudden all his memory seem to come crashing at ones, he remember coming to Wakanda with his best friend Steve and king T'Challa offering to help him, and that they will find a cure for his Winter Soldier programming. Bucky had asked to be put on ice until they could find a cure, although he doubt there was one to begin with, he couldn't trust his own mind, so the scientists put him on ice. " I'm Bucky, there is no need to be so formal.

I think I'm in Wakanda at least I was before going on ice." He said with what he hope is a convincing smile.

"Yes, you are correct. you are in Wakanda now, we have discovered a way to undo the brainwashing and you have been on ice for a bout a year now. You must have a lot of questions, I promise you that all will be answered in due time." The doctor said

" How can we be sure it will work, I didn't think it was possible and I assumed it would take more time to find a cure if there was one. I'm not undermine your work, it just feel to easy."

"The princess put a lot of effort into curing you and found a way to undo the brainwashing all we have to do now is to test it, you know with the trigger words. A doramilaje will come and do that just in case anything goes wrong. Have faith Sergeant Barnes, I will call my assistant to bring some food, you must be famish." with that the walk away tapping at her phone. Bucky still had doubts about all of it, it just seems to easy and he don't think he deserve a second chance after all he did as the Winter soldier. Doramilaje are fierce warriors no doubt the reason why one of them is going to test the words on him, he feels better knowing that if he does becomes the Winter Soldier they would be there to subdue him.

"Sergeant Barnes here's your meal, I'm Dr. Akhona's assistant Esihle." A smiling girl no more than 20 years old said, Bucky thanks the girl and take the tray of unfamiliar food. The doctor was right he was famish, he eats the food as if he hasn't has food in forever, in his defense he hasn't has solid food in a year. His mind wander again about his friends, what being free of the Winter Soldier programming might mean to him and will he ever be able to repay the king and his sister for all they have done for him. Bucky being in Wakanda alone is a risk, he is an international wanted murderers although he wasn't exactly in control in his body while he committed those murders. He put the empty tray away and lie down on the hospital bed.

Bucky realized he must have dosed off when a hand on his shoulder shake him awake. Bucky opens his eyes to a frowning dr. Akhona. " I'm sorry I fell asleep after my meal." Bucky said as way of greeting.

"It's fine, I just need to do one last physical examination before Ayo comes get you for the test. The king thinks it better to do it sooner or later, after I'm done a dora will come to fetch you."

The doctor places some wire on his head and motor his brainwaves on a monitor, she leaves in places as she examine the rest of him and taking notes. Dr. Akhona takes the wires of his head and conclude the examination. "Everything looks fine, there is a bathroom over there, I assume you'd like a shower before the whole testing thing, I had my assistant prepare everything for you. Once you are done return to this room and wait for Ayo. Any questions Sergeant Barnes?" Akhona said while tapping away at her computer.

"Thank you for everything doctor, where exactly are we doing the testing?" Bucky was not so kin on having the testing done so early after waking up and hat if something goes, there will be be a dora there but what if it's not enough.

"There is a forest south of the capital, Ayo will take you there to do the test. Don't worry there won't be anyone else there, even if you become the winter Soldier you won't hurt anyone." Akhona replied with a reassuring smile. Bucky returns the smile but still unsure of himself, maybe a shower will help clear his head.
