A/N: I have only listened to the audiobook version of the series, which was a while ago, so I apologize for misspelling certain names, I may update this fanfic later as I listen through Supernova for the second time.

I Should've Listened To Her

"This can't be happening!" Nova thought.

She still couldn't believe it, this was going to happen. They were going to kill her.

"Please, listen to me! I'm not Nightmare!" Nova frantically pleaded to the guards who were leading her to the stage.

They didn't answer and kept their gazes forward.

They can't just do this! All the 'evidence' they had against her was circumstantial, but they locked away and eventually sentenced her to death with no trial despite that. She tried to convince Adrian when he came to interrogate her but he wouldn't have it, no one believed her.

She has never felt such loneliness till that moment, such a hollow, icy feeling. To know that nobody would save her from her execution. There was her uncle, but she had heard nothing from him. She prayed he was ok. She knew nothing was left from the explosion that demolished their apartment building, she could only hope that he was able to find a safe place to stay.

Nova looked up towards the stage when she heard Captain Chromium start to speak, "Now that agent N neutralized the prisoners, we will move on to the….. execution. The execution of the villain known as Nightmare of the Anarchists."

Nova dropped her head as tears spilled down her cheeks. This was it, the end of the road. She did her best to convince everyone that she wasn't Nightmare, but no one believed her. She still loved her team, despite everything. They arrested her, locked her up, but she still cared for them. She prayed they wouldn't be there to see her execution, especially Adrian. She didn't want their last memory of her to be her executed.

"I still love you, Adrian…." Nova whispered.

Adrian watched on with empty eyes as they guided Nova to the stage. His team came with him despite him saying he would be fine. They knew he wouldn't be ok and never would be; and because they couldn't convince him to stay, they came with.

He could spot Genissa Clark arriving through the door to the stadium carrying a bow and cooler, which confused him.

"We have convicted Nova McLain of multiple attempted murders, assault, theft, destruction of government and private property, and various other crimes. We have sentenced her to death for these many transgressions." Captain Chromium's voice boomed through the stadium as he spoke. The Captain turned to Nova and added, "Is there anything you have left to say Nightmare?"

They gave one guard a microphone, and they held it in front of Nova. She lifted her head and when she was about to speak she spotted Arian and the rest of the team. Adrian could spot the tears sprouting from the corners of her eyes, Nova lowered her head again. This was becoming too much for Adrian. He tried to remind himself that Nova was Nightmare and that he shouldn't feel anything for her after all the suffering she had caused, but it was no use. He wanted to leave so much, but he couldn't. Adrian found that something rooted him to his seat, and he couldn't bring himself to think of why. Adrian knew that if he thought of it even for a second it would break him, so he hardened his heart, shoved those feelings away, and he watched.

Nova opened her mouth to speak, but she faltered and closed it again. After a moment she opened her mouth and spoke the most heart wrenching thing Adrian and his team have and will ever hear.

"I… I, am not, Nightmare." Nova gulped and took a breath, "I am Insomnia, I am Nova McLain. I have done nothing wrong, and I am being framed." She lifted her head, and she focused her gaze on Adrian, then sweeping her gazed across the rest of her teammates.

"Despite my team arresting me, I still care for you all." She took in a deep breath before adding, "And Adrian? I love you."

It was like the words punched Adrian in the gut with the force of a missile, and his breath completely left him. It left a similar affect to Danna, Ruby, and Oscar as well, Adrian looked over to his team and saw that tears were running down their cheeks. He lifted his hand to his cheek to find a hot tear making it way down.

"No…" Adrian whispered.

They took away the microphone as the guards unlocked Nova's cuffs and brought her arms to spread them wide open and held them there.

"No." Adrian shot up from his seat, startling his teammates and the surrounding people.

Genissa brought out an ice spear from the cooler, and as she took aim Adrian saw Nova close her eyes in resignation.

"Please, no!" Adrian shouted at the top of his lungs.

With a smirk, Genissa Clark let loose the bowstring and the ice spear soared towards Nova's chest.

The sound of the projectile going through Nova was horrible, as well as the cry she let out as her knees buckled underneath her. Adrian knew he would never be able to get this moment out of his head, and that it will stick with him for the rest of his life.

Without thinking, Adrian lept forward using the spring tattoos on his feet. "Damn the consequences." Adrian thought.

Adrian could hear his teammates yell his name, but he didn't care, all he could think about was getting to Nova. He should've fought Hugh harder about not executing her. What she has done didn't even warrant such extremes. He could've spared Nova from the pain and death, but he didn't. He made little effort, and now he was regretting it all.

Adrian landed next to Nova and the guards as they were laying her down, "MOVE!" He yelled towards the guards. They backed off immediately.

Nova was gasping for air but kept choking on her own blood that was spilling down her chin. Adrian knelt down to her and picked Nova up into his arms.

Adrian looked up at his dad, "Please call a healer, she doesn't deserve to die. Save her!" He begged.

Hugh did nothing other than stare at his son with eyes full of sorrow. "I'm so sorry… but I can't." He whispered.

The young renegade looked up towards his father, eyes aflame and spat out, "Fuck you."

He looked back down towards Nova; she was barely conscious now, Adrian wasn't even sure if she even knew that he was holding her.

"Hold on Nova, please hold on! I-I-I will save you, just please hold on!" He rushed out as he tried to uncap his marker with a single hand. He would draw some bandages. Yeah, that will help with the bleeding until he could get her to a hospital and get her to a healer prodigy. He can't let her die, he just can't. Despite everything, he would not let her die. Nova just didn't deserve this fate.

"Alright, this may hurt a lot, but you got to bear through it Nova." But he could hear a reply. "Nova?" Adrian's blood ran cold when he lifted his head and took in Nova's face.

She looked peaceful, eyes blank and staring into the sky. Her chest was still, never to take in another breath.

Adrian heard footsteps rush up towards him from behind and heard his name being called. With devastation covering his features, he turned and looked up at his team that was standing there with total shock and sadness written on their faces. Ruby fell to her knees and Oscar immediately kneeled down to hug her. Danna stood still, not knowing what to do in her stupor.

He looked down to the floor, hugged Nova's body closer to him, and screamed out in agony.

A/N: There will be more, have a good day.
