Hiya everyone and welcome to my newest long fic that I had been thinking of doing for quite a while. I got the idea on the nook because of a prompt that was posted by another user Nathan Thorn and I wanted to make it Lancaster so here we are and I would like to thank A_Guy_Called_2623 for beta-ing this chapter.
Lifting up his luggage as he continued to walk, Jaune groaned. He felt his sore muscles complain about the use. Continuing to walk slowly, Jaune did his best to not reopen any wounds that were gained last night.
Stopping in the middle of the stairs Jaune looked around making sure that there was no one else around, and when he was satisfied that there was no one he then lifted his shirt checking on his chest as he looked at two of his deeper cuts.
Looking at it for a moment, Jaune then made sure that all his stitches were intact. When he was happy that they were, he pulled his shirt back down. Continuing his trek upstairs, Jaune was relieved when he found his way to his new apartment.
Knocking on the door, Jaune waited, patiently leaning against the wall with his arm as he took the weight off his legs.
When the door opened, Jaune was caught by surprise by the person behind it. She was a foot shorter than him which he had quickly noticed the way he dwarfed her body. Looking down at her, the thing he noticed next were her eyes.
They were a startling silver that he had never seen before, they seemed to captivate him; he felt like he could even get lost in them. After a moment, he looked away when he saw her face begin to redden making him feel like an idiot.
"Nice one," he thought guiltily. Now she thinks you're a creep because you couldn't help but stare at her he thought glumly. He shook his head, feeling like he could still save the first impression. "Hi I'm Jaune Arc! The name's short, sweet and rolls off the tongue, ladies love it." he recited, holding his hand out. At that moment, he wished the ground would swallow him up.
"Err, nice to meet you Jaune I'm Rose, Ruby Rose," she says shaking his hand before she paused, looking away. "I mean, my name is just Ruby Rose." she told him awkwardly, her hand going limp in her embarrassment.
"Err I think that means we're roommates." Jaune told her, as he let go off her hand, pulling back a little to rub the back of his head with his hand.
"Yeah, I think it does," Ruby said looking away from him shyly "You're Pyrrha's friend, right?" Ruby asked him curiously.
"Yep, I've known her since high school. You're Yang's younger cousin, right?" Jaune asked in return, placing his luggage down onto the floor, doing his best to act casual.
"You got that right, I've known Yang since," Ruby started to say, before pausing when she realised how obvious that answer was "Well I've known her since before I could remember." Ruby finished, smiling shyly before she realised, she was still blocking the door. "I'm so sorry, I'm sure you must want to unpack." Ruby said embarrassed, before stepping forward, picking up one of his bags for him. "I'll show you to your room and then if you want, I can give you a tour of the apartment." she offered, as Jaune smiled lightly.
"That sounds great, if you don't mind,." he says to her gratefully as he picked up his bags only to wince when she turned away. Jaune felt a sharp pain in his stomach, then horrifically, he felt his chest begin to dampen. "Shit!" he cursed, already seeing a red splotch on his shirt.
"Err what was that? Is something wrong?" Ruby asked, having heard Jaune mumble something under his breath.
"Everything's good, no worries, that was just my stomach growling. I haven't eaten in a while," He quickly lied, picking up the rest of his bags, using them to cover his stomach.
"I could eat too if you want, I could order food while you're getting set up." she offered, leading him past what looked like a kitchen and a living room before opening a blank white door. Inside was an empty room with a desk, a bed, a wardrobe with some drawers under it. There was also a window that was currently covered by blinds. "I know a good pizza place that I'd recommend." she told him, rubbing her hands together awkwardly after she put his bag down.
Looking around the room, Jaune placed his stuff down on a pile atop the carpeted floors "Thanks a lot for this I'll just go unpack now." Jaune said to her, feeling grateful but, at the same time, he needed to get her out of her so that he could check on his wound.
"Yeah, I just leave you to it," Ruby told him, smiling awkwardly as she went to leave before stopping at the door "So what kind of pizza do you want?" she asked him, remembering that she needed to know to order it.
"Err peperoni please." Jaune replied to her, his hand on his side to try and staunch the bleeding.
"Got it, do you want stuffed crust with that?" she asked, making him nod, smiling.
"Always." Jaune replied, making her chuckle.
"I think we'll get along fine." Ruby told him smiling, before she left the room leaving Jaune to unpack.
The moment she left Jaune sighed in relief letting himself fall down onto his bed before he quickly pulled his shirt off looking to his wound. When he saw it, he cursed.
The cut of interest was a deep gash at the lower middle of his abdomen. Looking at it, he could quickly tell that he had broken one of his stitches. The most difficult part, Jaune realised, was searching through his medical supplies with one hand, holding his shirt against the wound with his other to stop the bleeding.
Irritatingly, he couldn't find any pain killers. With a sigh, Jaune quickly came to the realisation that he would need to do this without any meds. Pulling out the supplies he would need, Jaune quickly pulled the shirt away, putting rubbing alcohol onto his wound to clean it. He stifled a screw of pain by shoving his shirt into his mouth.
When he was sure that it was clean, he then began to slowly stitch the cut back up. Luckily, or unluckily, depending on one's point of view, stitches were something he had a lot of experience with, so it didn't take long for him to stitch the wound back up.
When he was done, Jaune quickly hid the bloodied shirt under his bed, to be taken care of later. He put on a black shirt so if his wound were to re-open, it wouldn't be as noticeable.,
Satisfied that he had dealt with his new problem, Jaune then began to unpack. He hid his gear under the bed, so that it would be less likely to be found. Jaune had made some pretty good time unpacking, with music being played through his headphones, until he heard a knock on his door, making him stop. "Come in,." he called, taking his headphones out.
"So, the pizzas here," Ruby told him, motioning to two pizza boxes with her arms "do you want to eat with me in the living room or eat in here?" she asked shyly, making him nod to her with a smile of his own being rudely interrupted by a growl of his stomach.
"I'd be happy to join you," he told her slowly standing up so as not to strain his side before walking over to her. "I'll carry this for you,." he said, picking up the pizza boxes before waiting for her to lead him to the living room.
Leading him to the small living room, Ruby motioned to the lone sofa facing a tv. "Here's the living room," she told him. smiling awkwardly, motioning to the room. "Would you like something to drink? We've got some coke in the fridge," she told him, smiling awkwardly as she wished she had gone to the shops to stock the fridge before he got here.
"Coke sounds great, thanks," Jaune replied, making her smile, nodding as he placed the pizza down onto the table in front of the sofa.
"Cool, I'll get it now! The tv remote is just there so you can put something on my Netflix account, if you want,." she told him before walking away to get the drinks.
Being left alone, Jaune twiddled with his fingers awkwardly for a moment before he reached for the remote turning on Netflix. He took a second to look at the already made accounts before clicking on the one titled Ruby. Seeing the continue to watch list, he smiled, noticing that they seemed to have a lot in common, judging by the sheer amount of anime there.
Quickly searching for Saiki K, he saw that she didn't seem to have watched it before, so he waited for her to get back. Hearing her walk over, he smiled lightly. "I saw on your account that you liked anime so I was thinking you would like this," he said, making her smile back.
"I haven't seen it before so sure,." she said to him, happy that he didn't try to make fun of her for watching anime. She plopped herself down sitting next to him, the two of them spending the rest of the night eating pizza and watching tv.
Hey so here we go hope you all enjoyed the chapter.
