Willow's head had felt more than a little fuzzy the night before when she'd climbed into bed. Though considering what had taken place earlier that night, she hadn't been surprised. However, this morning, Willow found that her mind was sharper and focused than ever before in her life. Even more shocking was the number of ideas she had running through her mind. If that was impressive, the number of thoughts she found she could now concentrate on and fallow at the same time was staggering.
Willow had always been gifted intellectually, which was something she'd been very proud of growing up. Today, however, it felt as if all of her life she'd been operating on a cheap calculator. Suddenly her brain was running on a quantum supercomputer. It was both astonishing and humbling in equal measurer.
However, it was more than just that she suddenly knew things that she'd never known before. Although most of the new information was fuzzy and hard to catch, she still found herself with a broad scope of information on an almost countless number of fields. She couldn't access all that information directly, but it seemed to be stored safely in her subconscious.
It didn't take a genius to figure out that she'd somehow retained a vast amount of information from her costume. Even more incredible, however, was the upgrade she'd gotten to her IQ.
She wondered if anyone else had been so significantly changed by their Halloween costumes. If they had, she worried about the amount of chaos that was about to be unleashed on Sunnydale. Not to mention the rest of the world.
It took quite a bit of effort to push the ideas that now crowded her head to the back of her mind. She wanted very much to examine each of those ideas zipping around her head. First, however, she needed to concentrate on what had happened to her right now.
She quickly showered and readied herself for the day. She quickly brushed her hair and pulled it back into a quick braid. She had been stalled for a short time when it came to getting dressed for the day. Willow took one look at her closet, and suddenly some new part of her sharply rebelled at what she found in her closet.
Growing up, she'd been resigned to have her mother chose her outfits. After all, it was her mother's money that bought those clothes. So, naturally, she didn't like them, but she'd lacked the confidence to assist her opinion. However, looking at most of her clothing now, her belief that they were a bizarre mix of childish teen girl and conservative grandma couldn't be denied.
Waking up today, she was a very different person than the girl who'd fallen exhausted into her bed. She was still Willow, but now she was a Willow strongly influenced by the massive and undeniable personality that was the Doctor. Going through her closet Willow began picking out every article of clothing she could no longer stand or that she'd never liked in the first place. Then, she started throwing them into a corner of her room to deal with later.
It only took about five minutes to go through her closet and discard most of what was in there. All that remained were two skirts that she thought were nice if she had to dress up. She also had three pairs of skinny jeans that Buffy had talked her into buying when they'd gone shopping together. After washing them, Willow had hung them in her closet and had yet to wear them.
She also kept a selection of t-shirts that she'd collected from Xander over the years when he'd slept over and left them behind. She also had several nice blouses and two coats. One of them was a light windbreaker, while the other was a great coat she'd bought two years ago for a costume. She was happy that it still fit her as she liked the coat's soft leather and deep red color. All that was left was her shoes, and that was relatively simple to deal with. She kept one pair of flat dress shoes, a couple of gym shoes, and a pair of low-heeled ankle boots made of deep blue swayed.
Once she'd cleaned out her closet, it was a simple matter to chose her outfit. She pulled on a pair of her skinny black jeans, a white pearl button blouse, and her ankle boots. She made a note to go shopping some time in the next few days to flush out her wardrobe. Thankfully it was Saturday, so she had some time before school began again on Monday. Heading downstairs, she wished again and not for the first time that she was old enough to get her driver's license.
She would love to drive to get around town, especially at night when it was dark, and Buffy was unable to walk her home for one reason or another. But, unfortunately, Willow, she'd began school a year earlier than her peers. So while Buffy and Xander were both sixteen and old enough to get their license, Willow, at fifteen, still had a year to go.
Not that either of them could drive either. Buffy had only just passed her driver's test, and her mother didn't trust her driving. Xander didn't have a vehicle to use. That left all there of them stuck on foot for the foreseeable future.
Although she did have an idea that might solve that problem bubbling away in the back of her mind. Still, she pushed the thought into the background, for now, to allow her to focus on more important things.
It took her fifteen minutes to walk to the school, and not for the first time she had to pause just a moment to compare the empty school to the school when it was full on a school day. Taking the now familiar path to the school's back, she found the door unlocked as expected. She pulled open the door and quickly made her way to the library. As much as she liked school, Willow had to admit that she did enjoy the peace and quiet that she found in the school on the weekends.
It was funny how often she, Xander, and Buffy found themselves in the high school library. During the school week, they were often the only ones who spent any time at all in the library other than Giles. They were also the only people in town that could usually be found in the library on the weekends. However, that was fortunate for them as they would have to find some other place to do their research and for Buffy to practice her slaying otherwise.
When she entered the library, she was surprised to find that she wasn't the first person other than Giles to arrive. Usually, Willow would get to the school before Buffy and long before Xander. Today though, she found all three of them already gathered around the table talking about last night.
