I can see the fire in your eyes
Her red eyes stare absent-mindedly at the ceiling over her, lingering on the shadows created by the dim moonlight illuminating another sleepless night.
Saki sighs and moves restlessly on her futon, briefly looking at her bandmates before deciding to quietly get out the room to gaze up at the starry sky, leaning over the railing of the porch.
As her gaze gets lost admiring the stars, the feeling of emptiness and dead becomes more present in her.
She misses it.
She misses the wind lashing at her face at full speed, swaying her hair at its will. The feel of the rubber on the accelerator of her motorbike as she speeds up. The adrenaline that comes with it, pumping wildly through her veins, but especially, she misses the way her heart raced, beating strongly against her ribcage.
She misses the way riding her motorbike and the adrenaline of the speed made her feel alive.
Saki's heavy sigh gets lost in the middle of the night as she keeps contemplating the moon starting to get covered by a light rain curtain while remembering her past and glory days.
She abandons the railing to go back to the room, gathering her usual clothes to leave the house, taking Sakura's bicycle with her.
How pathetic.
This is all her life has been reduced to. A zombie, pretty much dead in all aspects of her life, riding a simple bicycle instead of her old badass motorbike and in a group of idols which although brings back to her life some adrenaline with their performances in weird places, their songs and dances and makes her feel part of something, it isn't enough.
She thinks as she gets on the bicycle, starting to pedal with all her might under the pouring rain, hoping it would make her feel alive again, or at least temporarily, as it does every single sleepless night she sneaks out.
Her body bends forward on the bicycle as her legs pedal harder, speeding up as she feels the wind and rain whip and soak her face.
It feels nice.
She tells herself as a soft smile starts to appear on her face.
She closes her eyes briefly to enjoy the sensation before opening them again, gaze fixed on the road straight ahead her and the slope that follows it.
Saki gets slightly up on the bicycle's seat and lets her body go with the gravity of the slope downwards, her smile widening with it before she skids taking a curve perfectly.
- Fuck that! – she yells in the air out of happiness, enjoying the rush and adrenaline that comes after taking that curve.
She keeps pedaling as fast and hard as she can until she comes up to the sight of a river and a bridge and her legs start to feel tired, begging her to stop at the riverbank to throw herself onto the grass to rest a bit and keep enjoying the feeling of the rain cooling and wetting her skin, the remainders of her heart drumming loudly against her eardrums as if she was still alive.
She likes this.
Maybe it's not the same as before but she still likes it. She knows it's not the same feeling of adrenaline as riding her motorbike like she did years ago but she's content enough with it.
She closes her eyes again and lets the rain wash away the nostalgia she feels, while back at home, a certain redhead watches the rain pouring down from the porch, waiting for her to come back.
Sakura notices it. She notices how almost every night Saki sneaks out the room to stare at the sky silently for a while before she enters back in to gather her things quietly and leave for hours.
Sakura isn't worried about Saki or that anything can happen to her, they're zombies after all, but she has to admit that maybe, she's a bit worried about her. But mostly, she wonders about what makes Saki sneak out of home at such ungodly hours in the night to then come back and sleep soundly until morning comes.
Yet, whatever Saki does during those hours, Sakura realizes that when the morning after her escape comes, Saki wakes up seeming even happier and more energetic than how she usually is, with her red eyes sparkling intensely and passionately and Sakura loves to get lost in them and in her dazzling smirk.
But as the day passes and after practice ends, Sakura observes how that little and vigorous sparkle in them slowly faints as time goes by, until Saki's eyes are as dead as they are and the same story repeats itself when night comes and Saki sneaks out again to who knows where.
Sakura also notices how whenever she tries to follow Saki to know where she goes and discover more about her night activities, her bicycle is nowhere to be found.
With a resigned sigh and a soft smile playing on her lips, Sakura comes back to her futon to try and catch some more sleep until morning comes. Now she doesn't wonder why her bicycle appears with mud all over its frame and tires flat from scratches in the morning.
That Saki-chan…
She should be mad at it or at how sometimes she has to come back home walking with her bicycle and a broken tire, but she doesn't care because she realizes that might help to bring such sparkling shine in Saki's eyes and she loves it as much as she misses it when that sparkle fades away.
She knows Saki might just be missing something that it's important to her, so she lets it go without thinking twice about it…
That night, the rain pours hardest than the previous nights and the freezing wind doesn't help, so Saki stays at home, leaning over the railing of the porch as usual while gazing up at the stormy sky with a blanket wrapped around her to keep her warm even if it doesn't affect her that much due to being a zombie.
Sakura watches her from her futon and decides to approach to her.
- Can't you sleep? – Sakura asks her in a whisper, startling Saki slightly who just snorts and turns around giving her a calm smirk.
- Shouldn't I be the one asking ya that, egghead?
Sakura smiles softly at her and leans on the railing next to her, enjoying the raindrops wetting her face as she also gazes up at the sky, getting mesmerized by its beauty.
- Aren't you going to go out? – she asks Saki casually, hugging herself to keep some warmth within her.
Saki looks at her nervously and shuts her eyes, quickly putting her hands together in front of her face while slightly bowing in a sign to apologize.
- I'm so sorry Sakura!
Sakura can't help but giggle at it, making Saki look at her with big grin on her face.
- It's okay Saki-chan, I don't mind, just be more careful with the tires please – Sakura asks her softly, slightly shivering due to the wetness and the cold wind blowing and Saki chuckles, wrapping her blanket around Sakura to keep her warm and pulls her by the hand a bit more inside to shield them from the rain, obliging Sakura to sit with her on the porch's floor.
Saki's hand and body feel warmer than the blanket itself and Sakura loves it, getting closer to her, almost snuggling into Saki's side.
Sakura stares at Saki's profile, getting dazzled with the way the dim light of the streetlights hits her blonde hair making it shine brighter and at how calm she looks and the way her eyes have that sparkle she came to love so much, making them look like there's a little fire burning in them.
- Saki-chan? – Sakura calls the blonde by her name timidly but it's futile as she observes Saki admiring the sky, probably too lost in her own thoughts to have even heard her.
Sakura sighs softly and places her hand over the one Saki has leaned on the porch's wooden floor, getting closer to her.
Saki reacts looking at her and Sakura closes their distance by kissing her. As soon as she realizes what she just did, she quickly pulls apart panicking.
- I'm so sor- mmph.
Saki interrupts her apology, pulling her closer again to crush their lips in a rough and lustfull kiss and Sakura loves it.
Sakura loves how even though Saki's lips are cold, are the perfect contrast to their hot kiss. Saki, for her part, loves the rush and adrenaline she feels in that kiss, she loves how it makes her feel alive again, how Sakura with her passion and delicate touch makes her feel so alive, and just with a simple kiss.
They pull apart, panting and looking one another with a light blush on their faces.
- I-I liked it – Sakura whispers timidly, the light blush on her cheeks gaining more color.
- Of course ya liked it! – Saki exclaims loudly with a big grin on her face.
- Saki-chan! – Sakura reprimands her in a bit loud whisper and embarrassedly.
Saki loves it. She loves the way Sakura calls out her name with such cute blush adorning her blue cheeks or the way she averts her eyes completely embarrassed and nervous. She loves the way she makes her feel alive and how the adrenaline and passion of their kisses unleash a burning desire in her, rekindling the fire in her eyes and heart like riding her motorbike used to do, making her heart pump wildly and lively again against her ribcage and eardrums.
She can get used to this kind of fire and adrenaline running through her veins. She can definitely get used to the way Sakura makes her feel alive.
She definitely loves the way Sakura makes her feel and can't help but wonder what else she can makes her feel…
- Happy birthday – Sakura whispers against her lips with a happy smile playing on her face and Saki can't help but pull her closer, chuckling and smirking at it before capturing her lips in a deeply and passionate kiss.
Happy birthday indeed…
