You don't know how much I regret

Kakashi never thought there could be so much pain in his life. It was a deep and heartbreaking feeling. Those cold, cruel claws clenched his heart and pierced his stomach.

He almost wanted to drop everything and go after Iruka and be happy with him, but he couldn't. Oh cruel fate.

His kingdom needed him. His people were precious to him and the whole territory was his home. He couldn't abandon them, despite wanting to do so with all of his heart.

How much he cursed those damned elders of the council and the traitor of Danzo. But he couldn't break the law either, or at least not yet.

His Iruka, his beautiful and perfect Iruka. A warrior of the palace and a capable and tenacious fighter. Kakashi had fallen deeply in love with that warrior of the palace without a family and invisible to people who were not interested in life beyond the egotistical and selfish view of palace life.

Iruka had long dark hair with a scar on his face, proof of his life as a warrior. And Kakashi, in Iruka's words, had a bright complexion and a face carved by the angels themselves. His hair was silky and strong and completely perfect.

But Kakashi was a fool, a real idiot. He hadn't taken into account his change in attitude toward palace life. He don't know he realized that Danzo and his minions had noticed his growing, and subtle, contempt for those nobles who looked no further than their lives of luxury.

And it was on a night of love and lust that Kakashi and his kingdom were in more danger than any other day.

The King of Konoha didn't know what to do. He was afraid of losing everything. He had panicked.

A member of Root, part of those loyal to Danzo, had discovered that a man was in the King's personal rooms. Causing the council to demand a meeting with Kakashi and the accused of invading the Ruler's main rooms.

Iruka was proud on his posture, not denying or affirming anything, but Kakashi knew better. They could take the kingdom from him if they knew that his king was in a lustful relationship with a man, committing a sin of God. He would lose his home and the people would be in danger.

Therefore, and with the greatest regret of his life, he denied everything.

"Dear noble council members," Kakashi said. "I don't know this guy. I don't know who he is or how he got into my room."

And the council looking towards Iruka, with suspicion and some anger and irritation, began the interrogation and questioning towards Iruka.

"Umino, you are one of the palace guards. Is that correct."

"Yes, Honorable Countess Koharu."

"And you didn't know King Kakashi before last night?"

"No countess. He had only seen him walk the hallways."

"And why did you enter the private sector of the palace? Did you want something? Jewels, treasures or secrets?"

Kakashi was nervous but Iruka was still standing proud and not looking at the king, because he knew what his destiny was and he had already accepted it.

"I-I'm sorry, Viscount Homura. I can't give you that information."

"You are a spy! Who sent you? The one who calls himself Kazekage?"

"I can't give information, Countess."

"Then we will imprison you in our dungeons, you filthy spy. I assure you, Umino, that you will regret betraying the kingdom of Konoha."

Finally, guards led Iruka deep into the kingdom's prisons. His friends and acquaintances, unable to believe that they had been deceived by a spy, only sent repudiation and hatred of the former guard. Iruka was hated by everyone, even the orphans he loved so much.

And Kakashi, the brand new king of Konoha. Whoever had brought them out of the plague of hunger and poverty could never find love again, because his heart died in a lonely cave.

Because his love was tortured and chained to death of hunger and thirst. Where the cave was dark, beyond the chains that bound him he couldn't visualize anything else. And who, in addition, was remembered as a spy and traitor of his native land.

End.
