(The current link above is for artwork of my oc in this story. I will be showing if no one knows what they look like in the story like my oc) Hey guys so its been a couple years since I last wrote a fanfic (I thought I lost my account, but thankfully I still have it. I swapped over to quotev to write this story under a different title since I was using said title on my maximum right version lol. Anyhow, any chapter I write I will go back and edit chapters if i do randomly just post (i'm not hiring no editor i don't got the money for it plus writing is just for fun for me anyways. Someone mentioned it on my other account in one of my stories I wrote... and to be honest it didn't really help much with hiw they worded they criticism... also if any of you are familiar with the maximum ride series books then there you go) anyways enjoy! On another note, when I want to say something I will put ( these ) around also in bold letters lol and each chapter with have one characters point of view as well (pov) and don't get me wrong, I'm not good with povs of other characters so keep that in mind! Also I decided to go with an oc of mine. I don't think I could do the whole (y/n) thing constantly sorry guys...
Zyana's POV
Its cold and I mean very cold beneath me. The feel of metal as I slowly opened my eyes weakly sitting up rubbing my migraine induced head. I've had it for the past month and doubt it would vanish anytime soon. Glancing around as i managed to sit upright, I remembered where I was. In a small metallic dog crate within a laboratory, but that's about it. I look down at what I was wearing and cringe at the sight. A surgical gown and a shock collar. I knew I wasn't safe where i was, but also knowing there was no escape for me either. My legs were badly bruised. My left arm was bruised just not as bad, but with plenty of cuts all over. Otherwise my right arm? Its odd, but from the elbow down is nothing, but bones. going past the elbow and up to my shoulder was a thick layer flesh and skin like a normal humans, but I already knew I wasn't normal even since birth. Normal humans wouldn't have any memory bore the age of four or five give or take, but yes once again I am far from normal. Ever since I first opened my eyes to the world I could remember everything. My parents faces and everything about them. I despised them with every fiber of my being. Since the moment I was birthed, they also despised my yet they still took care of me just until I was old enough to sell to a bunch of experimenting hungry scientists.
I shake my head remembering them, but my parents thought or myself as a monster due to the first sight of my bony arm. Not to mention some of my ribs were the same. Bones for my ribs were in place of skin which in this case protruded in between each one had did in fact had skin, but not attached to your ribs at all. It didn't really make much sense, but I had always ignored it. I freeze moments later huddling in the farthest most corner of my cage as the door swings open letting in a blinding light forcing my hands to cover my face. Shaking like a leaf I could feel the cage door swing open with someone grabbing my more or less non bony arm yanking me out by force standing me upright. I shrieked in response instantly regretting that decision as the shock collar around my neck shoots electricity through me. 'R-right... m-my collar... need t-too n-not a-act s-scared and l-listen...' I steeled myself as the person in a white lab coat pulls me after him making sure I wouldn't escape, but I knew it was futile to even try.
I kept my head low as to keep from looking at the person dragging me by my arm into anther room and let me go. I knew what was coming. It scared me dearly. I was only four and things like this shouldn't even be happening to a child such as myself. Another person that was waiting walked up to me kneeling down putting something that looked to be straps with cables hanging off of them around my arms and legs setting me down on a cold metallic table. I do your best to not panic or try to get up. I had no choice in the matter, but to lay down like always shuddering at the cold pressed against my back. The two scientists in the room hungrily looked at their clipboards and were talking in a way you couldn't understand. Before long, they started doing tests on me. It ranged from drawing blood, cutting off bits of skin off of my three limbs as samples to test. Otherwise, they would have me running on treadmills to examine my breathing and endurance. Whenever I would start to slow down, the collar around my neck would shock me just enough to force me to keep going. I despised this place. Even after told to stop, they wouldn't give me any food. I would be lucky to get food once maybe twice a week if lucky. Water I would receive once a day.
As days turned to weeks and weeks in to months and of course months into years, by now I was about the age of twenty one. It was smack dab middle of the night and I couldn't fall asleep even if I tried. I was very much exhausted as the scientists brought me back to my cage. I lay there in my cage hugging my knees into my chest. I was at a stand still. They waited for a bit before setting a bottle of water down for me. I just left it there no point in even grabbing the damn thing right now. For once I wanted to give up. I rather be dead so I wouldn't have to feel anything anymore. After all, I had nothing to live for, but I wouldn't give up I just wouldn't allow it. Once they had left, I calmed myself down enough to sit myself upright. Cautiously focusing on my hands. I recently had found out that I could use magic since there was always a faint glow when I focused on it, but always being careful about it as to not alert anyone in the process. Developing magic seemed to only be the single best thing in my life so far and I enjoyed it as I was able to move objects at a distance. Day in and day out I would practice my newfound magic. For once, I actually had a chance to escape and I am close too I just know it! By now I knew no one would be back for another hour. This gave me a small window of time to work with.
Closing my eyes, I lay my hand on the bars of my cage and focused as much of my magic into my bony hand as possible. I hear the metal as there was a slight bending sound to it. Focusing harder, I pushed my magic even further causing the bars to bend just enough for me to squeeze my entire body through. I stood up. It took me a moment to look around at my surroundings as I finally realize that I didn't have a single plan of escape. Folding my arms, I ponder for a moment, "Ok now what... I'm out of my cage... but where do I go now?" I walked towards the door and opened it just enough to look through narrowing my eyes. So far the hallway was dark, which mean no one would be around for the hour. Quietly, I went from room to room closing the door behind me. Each room however didn't have anything for me to take. Luckily the last room I noticed a window near the back. The window was just big enough for me to squeeze through. I froze as I could hear voices somewhere outside the room causing me to panic however as footsteps were heard inside I used all my strength to push my way thru even harder quickly managing to pull my body all they way through. They must have noticed since I heard shouting behind me. Yet I had already escaped.
It seemed like minutes since I ran into the forest just outside the laboratory and I could already hear the sirens sound behind. Even if out of sight, I was very much exhausted from sprinting away and weaving around trees, but it didn't stop me. Even as my collar went off constantly zapping me, I kept going eventually running right out of the forest into the open seeing some houses that looked abandoned. Cocking my head to the side, I walked over to one house that looked abandoned. I looked through one of the windows. I froze as voices were heard not far behind me I use some of your magic to open the window and slide in. Quickly closing the window, and sliding the curtains shut before hiding in a corner of the room huddling my knees into my chest, 'I'm... I'm trapped... but I n-need to wait it out... they wont know I'm even here if I'm careful enough. As the sounds die away, I wait a short bit before quietly moving out from my corner. I decide to explore the house I snuck into and took a look around looking for supplies and new clothes.
Deciding to open the drawers looking for clothes more comfortable that were in other rooms, I took off the piece of fabric I and pulled out some tank tops slipping one on. Found some underwear as well surprising enough at how it fit when sliding it on. A set of pants that I slipped on after currently had on, you notice a short sleeved shirt, a couple pairs of pants as well as some sleeves not attached to anything at all and some gloves. I don't hesitate to change into them. Once fully clothed, I decide to use the one sleeve to cover up my bony arm and the glove for my bony hand and nod satisfied it was hidden well enough. I slid my hands into my pockets and went into other rooms quickly looking for other items such as any non expired foods, decent clothing, some books or anything entertaining. There wasn't much, but what I had would do. I found a worn out backpack, which worked to store everything. However I found a jacket in fairly decent condition to put on that had a hood. It was a purple jacket, but there wasn't any patters or anything significant about it. It could help to my advantage of keeping myself hidden. I quickly slip it on throwing the hood over my head and putting the backpack on afterwords.I go to the front door and carefully listen for the voices of my pursuers. Luckily they sounded quite distant. As I left the house not caring to close the door behind me, I make my way in the darkness and out of the town. Running as far as I could go without stopping. Maybe I could hide away until everything blew over. To be honest... was it even worth it?
