Minister of Magic makes another bold move

It's just been a few months since she's taken office, but this is the Minister's second strike already.

Wednesday 19 March 2019, Ministry of Magic: The Minister of Magic Hermoine Granger made another controversial announcement, just weeks after her proposal to free elves and guarantee to pay for their work caused uproar in society, even from elves themselves.

On Monday, she made a speech to the body of Ministers informing them about her plan to create a new task force, that she said is "necessary for the prosperity of the Wizarding World"

According to sources, this force will be tasked with surveying the Muggle world and sending back information that they believe is of relevance to the Wizarding society. It is a collaboration between the different ministries of every major country in the world, including America, Canada, and other European and Asian countries.

The Minister specifically mentioned in her speech, "The Wizarding world has not kept up with the advancements in the Muggle society. Both societies have significant prejudices against each other, which will be a problem moving forward if we intend to work together and integrate both societies in the future." She believes that it will be difficult to immediately start a bilateral conversation, given the secretive nature of the Wizarding society up until now, thus it starts with us learning more about muggle society. A meeting with the Muggle governance of the United Kingdom is scheduled for later this week.

The owner of the Malfoy Manor, Draco Malfoy said something interesting in response. He said, "Well, this might open new doors for society, so I am looking forward to seeing where this takes us." This was deemed a betrayal by the predominantly pureblood, elderly population of our community.

"First she took away our elves, now she wants to jeopardize the safety of our entire community? This mudbl**d is going to be the end of us." A comment that echoes the thoughts of many. There is also a lot of concern over the "mixing of two cultures that cannot coexist".

Despite the public backlash, it seems that the Ministry is going to go ahead with this plan, said to start this May, with the members of this task force rumoured to be Jerry Thomas, Sasha Gray and Mina Lee, the new promising recruits in the Ministry who all topped in the NEWTs.

Although the Minister won the popular vote this election, the same may not happen next time if she continues stripping us of what defines our beautiful community and culture.
