Chi-Chi sat on her... their bed in silence. It had been over a month since her husband Goku came back to life. A month since he had fought Majin Buu and saved the world.

She finally had her husband back after so many years, but something about it was... off. It's like something wasn't right.

She pulled her knees to her chest and hugged them. She looked at the dark room. Everything was different. She changed it when Goku died. Tears fell down her face. Her heart pounded against her chest. She bit her lips to prevent making any sound.

She turned to her husband next to her. His eyes closed as he slept peacefully with his back turned on her. They tried to be intimate many times before, but she couldn't understand why she didn't feel it was right. Her eyes stung as more tears rolled down her face. She sniffed and tried to wipe her tears, but it was useless as more rolled down her face. She was breaking apart. No matter how hard tried to keep it together she just couldn't.

"Oh Goku, " she said quietly as she silently cried.

Little do you know
How I'm breaking while you fall asleep

Memories of the past flashed in her mind. From the time they met to day she was told he was died and didn't want to come back. Those memories haunted her for years. Was it because of me that he refused to come home. He doesn't love anymore does he? I pushed him away.

It didn't help when found out she was pregnant. It didn't help that her second born was a carbon copy of his father. It didn't help how he was much like his father. It didn't help she had a constant reminder of her failure to be the perfect wife and mother. People didn't like her much so when Goku died she was left alone. Gohan was always training and studying. The Z-Gang had their own lives than to stop and worry about the young widow. Although her and Bulma were close she was too busy working to be with her. So there she was, a young, sad, lonely widow with the company of youngest son. Having him back brought way to many good memories that had turned into nightmare.

Little do you know
I'm still haunted by the memories

Over the years she had fallen apart. Her heart broke into pieces. She tried to get it together, but it only made it worse. She realized that no one could replace Goku, not that she wanted to, but Bulma, her father and her Kingdom wanted her to move on. It broke her heart even more when she was always reminded that Goku was gone. She tried to put the pieces of her heart together, but it seemed like she was trying to pick up glass and the glass kept on cutting her skin every time she picked a piece making her drop it breaking it even more.

Little do you know
I'm trying to pick myself up piece by piece

When Goku tried to be intimate again she pushed him away. Many times he had tried, but she wasn't feeling it. She was afraid.

Little do you know
I need a little more time

It felt like she was locked in her heart. That she could not break the bars of her own prison of self pity and pain. She was trapped. The hole in her heart was so large there was probably no way she could heal it. Not even a senzu bean could help. Nothing could fix this.

Underneath it all I'm held captive by the hole inside

She didn't want to get attached. She didn't want her heart to break even more than before. Even if mentally she didn't know the reason for her distance her heart knew. It didn't want to get hurt again. So subconsciously locked her heart to prevent heartbreak. She didn't want to get attached and dependant on Goku only for him to leave her again to fight.

I've been holding back for the fear that you might change your mind

Yes she forgave him a long time ago. Yes she understood why he left. She understood everything, but was she ready to forget?

I'm ready to forgive you but forgetting is a harder fight

She guessed she had to wait. Maybe one day she would forget her pain. Maybe one day she will smile at her past. All she had to do was wait. She has done it before, she can still do it again. She will wait even if it took years. I will wait.

Little do you know
I need a little more time
I'll wait, I'll wait

She got of the bed and walked out of their room silently. On the opposite side of the bed laid a man who was supposed to asleep. He couldn't fall asleep. He watched her leave the room.

"Chi..." he said quietly.

He had heard her cry not only tonight, but every night since he returned. He couldn't do anything about it. He didn't know what was wrong with her. All he knew was that she was in pain and he felt like he was the one who caused it. He loved her and still does, but it was he his fault somehow.

I love you like you've never felt the pain
I'll wait

He had tried to be intimate again, but she pushed him away. He understood she wasn't ready. He had to wait. He knew she was afraid of something, but what? It couldn't be him, could it?

I promise you don't have to be afraid
I'll wait

He had to help her. He loved her. She was the only one he has ever loved like this. He loved her more than he loved his grandfather. He has loved her since they met even if her didn't know what to do when you liked someone. Her loved her then and loved her now and he knew that she loved him just as much if not more.

The love is here and here to stay

He looked around the room and saw that she has not returned. It has been half an hour and she still wasn't back. He sensed her ki and felt she no longer in the house. Where was she going? He asked himself.

He got up and quickly put on some track pants. He put two fingers on his forehead and ITed to his wife's location. As soon as appeared she bumped into him.

"AHHHHHH! " Chi-Chi screamed surprised to see her husband in front her and instinctively got down into a fighting stance.

"Woah, woah, woah Chi it's just me," he said with his hands in front of him.

"Goku what are you doing out her? !" She asked.

"What are you doing out here and dressed like that? " He asked emphasising the word.

Chi-Chi looked at herself and what she was in. She wore a pinkish white silk spaghetti strap night dress even if most people could not see it she knew Goku could. Her night dress reached her mid thighs showing off her flawless milky skin. She wore a silk gown over it that reached her knees. He hair was down as the wind blew through it.

"Goku it is nearly one in the morning there is no one who would be out here at this time, " she said.

"Okay fine, but what are you doing here? " Goku asked wrapping his arms around her waist.

"I was taking a walk. I couldn't sleep so decided to take a midnight stroll through the woods, " she said as she got out of Goku's arms and walked in the direction she was heading to before.

Goku quickly followed not knowing what to do. After ten minutes or so they arrived at a lake. He knew this lake. He remembered all the things they did here when they first got married. Why was she coming here?

Chi-Chi sat down on the grass and few feet from the lake. Goku looked at her before he sat next to her. Chi-Chi did not even look at him, but laid her head on his chest.

So lay your head on me

"Chi..." he said.

"Yes, " she replied.

"What's wrong? " he asked.

"Why would anything be wrong?" She asked.

"I know you think I don't know how you have been crying since I returned," he said and felt her body tense up.

"You knew? " She asked hesitantly.

"Yes, and my question is why? Why were you crying? " he asked again.

Little do you know
I know you're hurting while I'm sound asleep

"I can't tell you, " she said with tears sliding down her face.

Goku picked her up and putted her own his lap. He pulled her closer to him. She cried softly as she laid her head on his chest.

"Please Chi-Chi, tell me," he said as he ran his fingers through her hair.

She was silent except for her crying before she decided to speak up.

"I am afraid, " she said.

He blinked. Chi-Chi was afraid. For all the years he has been with her. She was never afraid. Angry yes, afraid that was something he has seen. She even slapped Majin Buu who was a million times stronger than her without fear or thought. As far as he knew she was the toughest woman on the planet... scratch that, the universe.

"Why are you afraid?" He asked.

"I am afraid that... that you will leave me again, so I refuse to be attached to you, I don't want my heart to break more than it already has been," she said.

"What? " He asked shocked.

"You left Goku, you left your home, your son, your friends, you left... me Goku!" She yelled as she glared at him.

"You didn't even bother to say goodbye to me, " she said quietly.

"Chi..."

"Do you know what I went through when you were died. I almost committed suicide, but I didn't because I found out that I was pregnant so I decided to live. Not for me, but my son and unborn child. If it wasn't for Goten I would be died. I couldn't eat, sleep or do anything it was until I found out so I pushed myself to live. I went through the worst. Waking up every morning hoping, praying that your death was just a bad dream. That you would hold me close as you slept, but I was disappointed... every single time. It took Vegeta, Vegeta out of all people to snap me out of it. He was the one who help me and Gohan even if it is hard to believe. He trained Gohan and brought us food even if Bulma is the one who made him." By now her face was soaked with tears.

"Chi-Chi I am sorry, " he said.

"Saying sorry won't change the past, " she said.

"I know, but it is a start. You don't know how I wish I could return to you and everyone. I wished that I could hold you, making love to you, mark you as mine, I was so close to telling King Kai to tell everyone to wish me back on more than one occasion, but I had to keep you guys safe. It was my fault that the Earth was always in danger. First Raditz, then Vegeta, the Frieza, the androids and Cell. They were always after me. I didn't want to see you hurt. When I was unconscious when I had the heart virus I had visions of you dying and I couldn't do anything about it," he said.

"But how is being died doing to protect us? " She asked angrily.

"It would keep every villain away. I did it so Gohan could have a normal childhood like you said and the baby you were going to have a times of peace. I did it for everyone's safety," he said.

Little do you know
All my mistakes are slowly drowning me

"Everyone's safety except mine, you sacrificed me for the world! " Chi-Chi yelled.

"Would you have rather let everyone else to be in danger and die?" Goku asked.

"I would if it meant I don't have to lose you. If we died, we all die together and we won't have to separate. I know you think what I am saying is selfish, but why do you sacrifice for people who don't care and value more than your strength. What's the point of sacrificing the people who care about you for people who don't know?" Chi-Chi asked as got off his chest.

"I am sorry," Goku said quietly.

"What? " She stared at him as he looked at the ground.

"I am sorry that I left you. I am sorry for putting the world first before you. I am sorry for everything wrong that I have done," he said.

"Goku. ..."

"I know I messed up, but I am trying to make it better. I am sorry for not doing the best, "

"Goku..."

"I should have done more. I still trying to put the pieces together, "

"Goku..."

"I am so sorry Chi, I really am. I will try harder, "

Little do you know
I'm trying to make it better piece by piece

"Goku!" Chi-Chi yelled. "I know you are, but what guarantee do I have that you won't leave again? "

"You don't, " he said.

"So you are planning to leave again? " She asked angrily.

"Yes, " he said.

Chi-Chi did not know whether she should be angry or sad. She didn't know the emotions stirring inside her. She looked at him confused and angry then she laughed. Why was she laughing Goku asked himself.

Goku looked at her as she laughed and stood up from his lap. He looked at her face and saw her face with an expression of pain, anger, sadness, disgust, hatred, betrayal and calmness.

"I should have known, " she spat and turned away. She looked at the new moon.

"I should have known you would leave. Why am I not surprised, " she began walking away.

"Chi...!"

"It's fine Goku you have made it loud and clear. You don't want me anymore, you don't have to explain yourself, I will leave you alone to do as you pleased, " she said then ran away in the opposite direction of the house.

"Chi-Chi wait! " she heard him yell, but she refused to turn back.

Tears streaming down her face. Her stung and her vision blurred, but she did not want to stop. She pushed herself and ran as fast as her feet would allow.

Goku looked at his wife running away. He yelled at her to stop, to come back, but not once did she turn back. He decided to follow her. He had to find her and explain.

He did love and wasn't going lose her. No not now, not ever.

Little do you know I
I love you 'til the sun dies

She waited for him for years. Prayed that he would return to her again, but now he had revealed to her that he planned to leave again. Where did she go wrong? She gave him two wonderful sons, food he can enjoy, a loving home and the pleasure of a partner. What more did he want? Maybe it was her fault. Maybe she shouldn't have been so aggressive in the past. Maybe if she was nicer he wouldn't have left.

Chi-Chi through the woods blindly, not knowing where she was heading. All she was that she needed to escape. She tripped over a tree root and fell on the forest floor. She sat up and noticed her bruised leg. She winced when she tried to stand and decided to sit down for a while.

She thought about what happened. She will wait for him because she knew he was following. She loved him so much that she was willing to forget everything until she heard what he told her.

Oh wait, just wait
I love you like I've never felt the pain

To be honest with her feelings, she was afraid of losing more than she was afraid of being left behind. She wanted to leave and start all over, but part of her has always been tied to Goku and that's what she was afraid of.

Just wait
I love you like I've never been afraid

Goku finally found his wife sitting on the ground leaning against a tree. He noticed the bruise on her foot and quickly rushed to her.

"Chi are you okay? " he asked no response.

"Chi-Chi..." he said softly and nothing. He started working on her leg to see the damage.

"Goku do you love me? " She finally asked.

"Yes, I do, " Goku said wrapping a piece of his is pants that he ripped on her foot.

"So why do you leave?" She asked.

"Because I need to keep you safe, " he said.

Just wait
Our love is here and here to stay

"Listen Chi let me explain to you. I will always leave you to go fight, I will never stop. "

Chi-Chi glared at him then turned away from him and changed her anger into sadness which did not go unnoticed by Goku.

"But that doesn't mean I don't love you, " he said.

"If you loved me as you say you wouldn't leave as much as do," Chi-Chi said angrily.

"Let me finish, I will always leave, but doesn't mean I won't come back. I will always come back to you, nothing will ever stop me from coming back. I love you more than anything and the reason I leave is so I can get stronger so I won't lose you. I don't leave because I don't love you, I leave because I love so much that when I am around you I can't think or function properly. I have to train so I don't lose the one thing that can be the death of me, "

"What the 'death of you '?" Chi-Chi asked raising her brow in a questioning way.

"Yes the death of me, you are the only one who can end me without trying, " he said.

"What about Cell?" She asked.

"He tried to, but failed and all you have to do is say my name and my body is already trembling from fear and excitement,"

Chi-Chi blinked at what he said then laughed.

"Are you afraid of me? " She asked between laughs.

"Of course, you are the scariest person I have ever met and that's saying a lot, " he said with a smile.

"Is that a compliment or an insult? " She asked.

"A compliment, because you are pretty hot when you are angry. " he said with a seductive smirk.

"Hmmmm so that's why you always fucking me senseless every time we had an argument, " she mused.

She shook her head and laughed. That was the last thing she expected to find out about her husband. She leaned on him with a smile.

So lay your head on me

A few minutes of silence before Goku decided to speak again.

"Look Chi-Chi, I love you and I am sorry for all the pain I caused you. I will try to fix my mistakes. I will love you so hard you will forget all your pain, or at least until you are sick of it, " They both laughed.

I'll wait, I'll wait
I love you like you've never felt the pain

"You don't have to be afraid, I will eventually return to you all you do is wait, " he said pulling her closer to him.

I'll wait
I promise you don't have to be afraid

"What do you say Chi? Will you wait for me?" He asked in a pleading voice.

"Of course I will if you promise to come back every time you leave, " she said with a smile.

"Okay, I promise to return every time I leave and if you die before I do, I have arranged you trip to the Otherworld, we will be together forever, " he smiled at her as she laid on his chest.

I'll wait
The love is here and here to stay
So lay your head on me
Lay your head on me
So lay your head on me

"Goku... I love you, " she said.

"I love you too Chi-Chi, now and forever. "

She leaned in and they shared a passionate kiss. After a few minutes the parted and Goku smiled.

Cause little do you know
I, I love you 'til the sun dies

"My princess of rage, " he laughed at her angry. He knew it annoyed her when he called her that.

"Goku!

He quickly stood up and ran away with his crazy wife hot on his tail. They played together for a while before they finally had their first intimate moment after so many years.

They finally knew how they felt about each 'cause little did they know they were a match made in heaven. Their weird version of love that most people do not understand was the best love story no matter what anyone said.

The End
