"Dekhiye, unke sar par chot lagne k wajah se aur medical history hone k karan khatra hosakta he. Chot gehri toh nahi he lekin stiches dene padhe. Right shoulder dislocate hogaya tha isliye sling lagaya he. Jaise apne bataya ki unhe drug diya tha, jiske traces hume blood me mile he. Toh mujhe lagta he unhe temporary partial memory loss hone ke chances he. Drugs k wajah se kuch dino k liye irritation, mood swings aur concentration issues b ho sakte he. Isliye ek hafte ka bed rest jaruri he", said the doctor to Daya.
"Kya main Abhijeet se mil sakta hu"?
"Abhi wo behosh he lekin ap mil sakte he aur jaise hi hosh aa jaye mujhe bula lena taki hum memory related tests kar sake".
"Jee jarur Doctor. Thank You".
"Its ok Officer. Take care" said the doctor and left to attend other patients.
Daya went inside and felt pain seeing his brother's head wrapped in a bandage and a sling over his right hand and shoulder, drip on his left hand and pale face. He faired his hand over his face and forehead and sat next to him holding his left palm in his hands rewinding hours of their life.
Flashback
Acp sir was briefing the team about Bala's visit to Mumbai for his sister's cremation and the security arrangement that they must undertake when a murder was reported. Daya, Abhijeet, Freddy, Pankaj and Purvi left for the crime spot to perform investigation. They found out some evidence that led them to the killer. Duo visited the killer's house to arrest him. Not sure of how he was involved the killing and afraid of being caught, the killer committed suicide. After performing necessary procedures the killer's corpse was handed over to her sister. Out of humanity duo along with Freddy and Pankaj visited the cremation site where the last rituals were taking place.
Abhijeet felt uncomfortable so he stepped aside to drink water when a person approached him and blew a powdered substance and ran away before anybody could notice him. Abhijeet felt dizzy, restless, his head was spinning, and eyes had burning sensation. His steps were shaky. Seeing his discomfort, Daya asked him, "Kya hua Abhijeet, tum thik ho?" holding him by his arms providing support. Abhijeet nodded yes as usual and Daya seemed unconvinced. He nodded his head in displeasure, holding him by his arm he made him walk and sit inside the car. Abhijeet did not protest. His senses were numb. He face showed rage that could kill anybody but he tried to cover it up by closing his eyes and resting his head on headrest.
After the rituals were completed, Daya ordered Freddy and Pankaj to report to the bureau and he will soon join them after dropping Abhijeet at home. Daya dropped Abhijeet to their home and returned to bureau as he had to prepare for security arrangements for Bala. Later Acp Sir ordered Daya to submit some files in the HQ that took long for him to return home.
"Aree ye Boss kaha gaya?", Daya asked to himself when he did not find Abhijeet at home. He continued to himself as , "pata he tabiyat thik nahi he fir b bahar gumne ka shauk he.. mujhe nahi bata sakta tha kya kaam tha.." with a frowning face and went to change.
He waited for long time but Abhijeet did not return. Unknowingly he slept on the sofa waiting for Abhijeet.
In the morning, as soon as he woke up he went to check if Abhijeet had returned. Finding him sleeping on the bed he felt relaxed and got ready for bureau. Duo had breakfast in silence as Daya was angry with Abhijeet for stepping out of the house without informing him and Abhijeet was feeling low and tired. He did not even have the slightest hint that some one was angry on him. He was involved in his own thoughts. Observing his brother's silent behaviour Daya thought to leave the interrogation for evening and proceed with work as usual.
Duo reached office, when they noticed injured Freddy and Pankaj talking to Acp Sir.
"Ye kya hua tum dono?", asked Abhijeet in concern.
Pankaj instantly replied, "Sir apko nahi pata?" in confusion.
Abhijeet nodded his head in denial and all others including Daya had questions in their expressions.
Freddy added to Pankaj's statement as, "Sir, kal ap hi ne toh hume takkar mari thi apni gadi se rat ko".
Abhijeet glared in confusion and reverted, "Ye kya bakwas kar rahe ho tum? Maine kab kiya ye sab? Main toh ghar par tha.." to which Daya replied, "Abhijeet, ye kya bol rahe ho tum? Tum ghar par kab the? Main kal 2 baje tak tumhara intezar karte karte so gaya.. Tab tak toh tum ghar par nahi the".
"Tum log kya bol rahe ho meri kuch samaj main nahi aa raha he. Tum kehte ho maine tumhe mara, Daya keh raha he main ghar par nahi tha.. lekin mujhe toh yad he ki daya ne mujhe ghar choda. Uske bad mujhe kuch kyu nahi yad aa raha he…..".
Daya and Acp sir gave strange expressions to each other as if saying, "kahi firse memory related koi problem to nahi".
Abhijeet felt panicky and was blabbering, "Sir, mujhe kuch yad nahi aa raha he.. aisa lag raha he jaise maine kuch kiya he lekin kya.. wahi jaise us killer k sath ho raha tha.. aise toh main logo ko ke liye khatra hu.. ap please mujhe ek kamre me band kar dijiye….." and he was cut by his mentor, his father, Acp Sir in disappointment as , "Kya bol rahe ho Abhijeet, pagal ho gaye ho kya?".
Having observed his second in command for last 22 years, he felt annoyed hearing his senseless words. He came near him and held his hands and said, "tumhe kuch yad nahi aa raha he sirf isiliye band karke rakh diya jaye? Aur tum kabse itna darne lage.. hum hain na tumhare sath.. hum kuch nahi hone denge tumhe.. aur tum kisike liye khatra nahii ho.. Samje?"
Abhijeet nodded in yes and felt relieved.
"Abhi tum jao aur ghar jakar aram karo, tumhari tabiyat b thik nahi lag rahi he.. tab tak hum kuch sochte he..", ordered Acp Sir when Purvi interrupted as, "Sir, hum Abhijeet sir par ek spy camera laga dete he, taki hum unpar nazar rakh sake aur us insan tak..". She had barely managed to say further when Daya protested as, "Ye kya bakwas kar rahi ho Purvi. Abhijeet koi criminal he kya jo uspar spy cam lagaya jaye? Main nahi karne dunga ye".
Acp sir and Abhijeet looked at each other and accepted the suggestion through eyes first and then Acp sir said, "Daya tum baat ko samjo… isse ek spy cam ki tarah nahi ek security ki tarah dekho.. hamare liye Abhijeet ki safety b important he. Ye toh shukar karo kal Freddy aur Pankaj k sath hi accident hua.. agar koi civilian hota to aj Abhijeet kitni badi musibat me hota".
Abhijeet further added as , "Ha Daya, socho jara.. Mujhe kuch b nahi yaad aa raha he, agar mere hatho kuch galat hogaya toh?".
"Lekin main rahunga na tumhare saath har pal ab se", replied Daya.
"Daya, lekin tumhe b toh apni duty karni he na.. Kal Bala ko receive karne airport jana he, uski security arrangement dekhni he.. kya tum chahte ho ki Abhijeet ki tabiyat kharab hote hue b use ye jimmedari de du?", asked Acp sir.
"Acp sir sahi keh rahe he Daya, tumhe apni duty b karni he na? dil se nahi dimag se socho Daya please.. aur main keh raha hu na.. mujhe koi problem nahi he", said Abhijeet providing support to his mentor's statement.
Daya agreed reluctantly and looked at Abhijeet with hard glare as if saying, "agar tum nahi mante toh ye main hargiz nahi hone deta".
Abhijeet replied silently, "Thank You".
Acp sir further added, "Daya aj tum ghar nahi jaoge,( duo looked at him with shocking expressions), aj tum tumhare hi ghar k bahar nazar rakhoge. Jo b ye sab kar raha he agar use pata chala ki tum ghar par ho toh shayad wo chaukana ho jaye".
"Lekin Sir, nazar rakhne k liye main security camera laga deta hu bahar", said Daya in protest.
"Nahi Daya, shayad aur b logo ko shak ho sakta he isse", Abhijeet said declining Daya's proposal.
Daya gave him a hard glare and left the place angrily. Acp sir and Abhijeet nodded in displeasure and also understanding the concern behind Daya's anger. Abhijeet fitted the spy camera and Freddy dropped him home.
At night, Acp sir is monitoring Abhijeet through the spy camera on a computer at his desk and Daya and Freddy are keeping a watch on duo's home sitting in the car. Daya took a glance at his house and and he recollected some words that his Abhijeet Sir spoke when followed him to a bar.
Maine mana kiya tha na mere piche koi nahi aayega...
Is bar tum yehi baithe rahoge main bahar akele jaunga...
"Ek wo din tha aur ek ye din he.. Yehi Abhijeet ne us din mujhe daata tha uske piche ane k liye.. aur aj yehi khud chahta tha ki hum uspar nazar rakhe…", Daya said to himself and nodded displeasingly.
The night passed without any action. In the morning, Acp sir called Daya.
"Hello Daya"
"Jee Sir, aj toh kuch hua nahi.. tum ready hokar Bala ko lene k liye nikal jao varna late ho jayega", ordered Acp sir.
"Jee Sir", accepted Daya as he was still angry over yesterday's action which did not give any conclusion so far. He sent Freddy home and stepped inside the house. He glanced towards Abhijeet preparing breakfast and hurriedly moved into his room. Abhijeet had just started, "Good Morning D.." and left incomplete. "Lagta aj bahut garmi hone wali he", murmured Abhijeet and continued with his work with a small giggle.
Daya got ready and left for airport without informing Abhijeet.
"Chala gaya.. bataya b nahi… Baat toh kar leta…" Abhijeet said to himself with a grumpy face and continued to get ready to go to bureau.
As Acp Sir had stayed in the bureau that night, Dr. Salunkhe arrived early and informed him about his findings related to the killer case. He informed them it was a rarely found drug used to control the mind of the victim and make him do as per his wish. He also confirmed that Abhijeet was drugged and being controlled by somebody.
Acp sir and Pankaj wondered who it can be and what could be the purpose behind drugging Abhijeet. They instantly grabbed the footage of spy camera being fed to their system and tried calling Abhijeet but failed. They noticed in the footage that Abhijeet had reached the crematorium site. They also noticed the person who had blown the drug standing at Abhijeet's door. They went to Abhijeet's house and found the culprit dying. On the way, Acp sir called Daya.
"Daya, dekho Abhijeet waha shamshan ghat aya hua. Uske neighbour ne use drug dekar Bala ko maarne k liye kaha he. Tum hosiyar rehna. Bala ko kuch nahi hona chahiye", ordered Acp sir.
"Jee Sir, main dekhlunga", replied Daya and disconnected the call and informed Freddy.
"Hume Abhijeet ko rokne ki puri koshish karni he aur fir b nahi rukhe toh shoot kar dena", commanded Daya to Freddy which left the latter shocked.
He thought, "Daya Sir, aise kaise keh sakte he?". He was brought back from his thoughts when he noticed Abhijeet was pointing gun towards Bala in rage.
"Dayyaaaaa Sir.. ", screamed Freddy. Daya instantly turned in the direction Freddy was looking and stunned to see Abhijeet. He moved forward to grab his gun but Abhijeet pushed him. Due to the push, the gun slipped out of his hand.
"Abhijeet, rukho tum aage nahi ja sakte", Daya said holding Abhijeet from moving ahead.
Abhijeet did not pay any heed to his instruction and kept moving forward.
"Abhijeet, suno, hosh me aao, kaha ja rahe ho", Daya said again jerking his hand to bring him into his senses.
Abhijeet gave him a hard glare and punched him. In retaliation, Daya punched too.
Abhijeet got furious and attacked Daya multiple times. Daya too reciprocated equally until his last push that made Abhijeet hit with a pole head-on and he collapsed. Everybody rushed towards him.
"Abhijeet, utho yaar, dekho I am sorry.. maine jaan bhujkar nahi kiya..", said Daya panicking and worrying for him.
Seeing no response, Daya lifted Abhijeet in his arms and carried him to the hospital, ordering Purvi, Freddy and Pankaj to take care of Bala.
Flashback Over
Daya felt a hand over his shoulder. He looked up and saw Acp sir standing next to him with fiery eyes.
"Ye kya kiya tumne Daya?".
"Sir maine jaan bujkar nahi kiya, main toh bas isse rok raha tha", replied Daya with head down.
"Aise ? Aise rok rahe the tum?", asked Acp sir with glaring eyes and ire.
Daya did not reply and continued looking down.
"Tumhe apni takat ka andaza he na? toh fir? Kaise hone diya ye sab? Pata tha na wosh me nahi he.. toh fir? Agar use kuch ho jata toh?"
Daya tried to justify saying, "Sir , wo sun nahi raha tha, bahut koshish ki maine use bina haat lagaye rokhne ki lekin usne.." but stopped looking at those staring eyes.
"Tum teeno milkar ek ko nahi rok sake? Ya tumne kisi ko aage hi ane nahi diya madad k liye?"
"I am sorry sir.."
"Kya Sorry ha Daya.. kitne baar kaha he josh se nahi hosh se kaam kiya karo.. lekin tumhare samaj me ye baat ati hi nahi.. dekha uska nateeja..(pointing towards Abhijeet).. agar ise kuch b hu na toh mujh se bura koi nahi hoga.. samjhe?"
Daya nodded and was about to move out but stopped by his threatening father who said, "Ruko, kahi jane ki jarurat nahi he.. yehi rahoge tum Abhijeet k pass".
