That will be $5.46 for everything," the cashier said as she finished putting Rey's chips and soda in a plastic bag.

"T-Thank you," Rey said quietly as he paid for his snack.

Rey Fraser wasn't the type to talk to people unless it was deemed necessary but he didn't want to sound rude. "Have a nice day" the cashier said as Rey left the convenience store.

'Have a nice day; oh I'm having the greatest day alright' he thought sarcastically.

Today was anything but a nice day for Rey. It started by him waking up to a phone call from the manager of the restaurant he worked at. His boss told him that he would have to let him go because the restaurant was bought out by another company and that there was nothing he could do about it.

5 hours earlier

"A-Are you sure this isn't just a misunderstanding; maybe the higher-ups told you the wrong information!" Rey said desperately in hopes of this being a mistake."I sincerely apologize for this happening at such short notice, You're a good worker Rey, but there is, unfortunately, nothing I can do, but I wish you the best of luck finding another job. So with that, have a nice day". His manager told him with a sorry tone."O-Okay I guess, Thank you," he said as he then ended the call.'Damn it! Just when things finally get better something like this has to happen to me!' he thought angrily.

If you could describe Rey's life in 1 word. That word would be Lonely. He lived his life with only his mom because his dad left before he was born. He never understood the reason why his dad left, but when he tries asking his mom she always finds a way to change the subject.

He didn't have any friends at school, only acquaintances. He was a very reserved person who was usually quiet and kept to himself so he became classified as a loner by his peers. The only person he really would talk to like a friend was his mom.

Nonetheless, he was pretty happy with his life.

These were his thoughts as he left the store. The afternoon summer heat slapping him in the face as he opened the door. But that didn't bother him because there was also a nice breeze present.

"Ok now that I got some food to eat; my priority is finding another job ASAP"., he said to himself while on the sidewalk on his way home.

Rey lives in a rented apartment of average condition in a small town, and this months rent was due in 4 days so he has to quickly get a job so he won't go into debt and/or get evicted.

'Ok what job will I apply for; how about a uh cashier!, actually, never mind. The last time I worked as a cashier I was so bored. How about a... fast-food worker! no, wait, if I get that job I don't think I'll be able to work well under pressure. I also don't think I'd be comfortable in such a lively work environment'.

sigh*' Damn, at this rate I'll never find a new job. I might as well finish my fo--"

"help him"

His internal monologue was interrupted as he heard the soft voice of a female. She sounded young; about 21 if Rey had to guess.

"Huh, what was that?" he said surprised by the voice he heard.

"H-Hello is anyone here"? he said out loud to no one in particular. No response could be heard.

'What the hell? was that real, or am I just going crazy from stress'? Rey thought to himself in confusion as he leaned on a wall.

Taking his usual route home he noticed something weird about the street he was on. No cars could be seen on the road or other people on the sidewalk. The street looked as empty as a ghost town. He was taking the usual shortcut to his apartment which was on a quiet street, but it never felt empty.

Rey took a deep breath,' Ok I'm probably just overreacting. Y-Yeah that's right; I was just imagining things. Rey thought as he took a sip from the soda he just bought.

A few minutes passed by and he could see his apartment just ahead. Then suddenly he felt a pain in his head. It was a pain that was comparable to that of a migraine.

"help him"

"save my beloved"

"help him"

The aching pain in his head increased as she spoke those words. He then stumbled into a nearby alleyway gripping his head in hopes that the throbbing pain eases.v

"Argh!, SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP!" he shouted out loud to the same voice he heard earlier.

"Will you please help him"

"OKAY, I WILL! I WILL HELP HIM DAMMIT"!

He shouted in hopes that whoever was talking to him heard his answer. But in his mind, he didn't even know what he was agreeing on; He just wanted the excruciating pain to stop. Fortunately, saying those words was the right decision as the excruciating pain in his head stopped. The woman's voice started speaking again, but this time it had something different to say.

"Thank you"

"Take this gift"

"It will help you"

"Thank you"

"I-I don't understand? what do you mean Take This Gift? What are you trying to say"?

As he said those words he noticed something else happening. Slowly, a dark purple shadowy mist started seemingly appeared out of thin air. At that moment, Rey's expression changed from confusion to a surprised expression. He was unfamiliar with what he was looking at. It looked like something supernatural or even something from a fantasy book he's read.

But then suddenly, the dark shadowy approached Rey as if it were attracted to him.

'What's happening right now? Why is it getting closer?

Then out of nowhere, the mist rapidly and aggressively went through his nose and mouth and every other opening it could find.

" Argh! - huff, huff - I CANT BR-"

He attempted to say as his breaths became labored and as he felt as if he were being asphyxiated.

His body was on the ground as he was struggling to breathe. Then soon enough, because of the lack of oxygen, his consciousness slowly started to fade.

The last thing he saw was a dark silhouette of a person before everything turned dark.
