First Meeting
The first thing she noticed when she opened her eyes was the unfamiliar sealing.
The second thing she noticed was the girl looking at her, her big otter eyes staring at her.
"You are awake!" the girl called out to someone else while helping her stand up. "Hey, take it easy, you look like you took a nasty fall or something."
She almost fell on the floor but the other girl catched her before she hit the ground and helped her back on the sofa, sitting up this time to get a better look around. The house was filled with random junk everywhere and some owl motifs decorating the roof of the house. It looked pretty nice even if whoever owned this place seemed to be a bit too much into trash and things.
"Hey! Don't go around looking at my stuff it's mine!" a little high-pitched voice said. Looking down, she saw a little…dog? Cat? raccoon thing? It had a skull in its head with its arms crossed and looking at her angrily.
"King, be nice!" the otter girl said towards the dog, apparently named King.
"But she is touching my stuff!" whined the King as he was picked up by the girl.
"Uh…" they both turned towards her as she interrupted their routine. "This is funny and all but can you tell me where am I?"
"Oh sorry, I'm Luz and this is the Owl House!" Luz said as she spread her arms in a motion of grandeur. It didn't have the effect she thinks it did.
"Um…I'm Lena…" she said unsure of how to proceed. "What am I doing here?"
"Oh um, I was walking through the beach last night, just looking for some stuff and what not when I found you washed up on the shore." Luz said as she sat down in one of the other chairs, King still in her lap. "I asked Eda to bring you here after some convincing."
"I was…washed up?" she asked confused.
"Yeah, do you remember why?"
She tried to respond but to her shock, she couldn't. In fact, when she thought about it she couldn't really recall anything but her name. Why was she in the beach of…whatever this place is?
"Are you ok? Are you having a flashback?" the otter girl asked.
"No,no, I just…can't remember, I can't remember anything." She said a bit scared now, the total lack of background making her even more anxious.
"I uh…well I don't know what to do with that…" Luz said pensive for a moment before continuing "But I'm sure Eda can help!"
"Who's Eda?"
As if on cue, the door to the house opened, letting it's owner walk in. At first Lena didn't know what she was looking at, some kind of hairless monkey thing with pointy ears.
"So, how's sleeping beauty over there doing? Still taking up the space in my couch?" She asked sarcastically as she set another bag of junk in a pile. She guessed she must like hoarding trash, the weirdo.
"Actually I'm awake, thank you very much." She replied towards the monkey.
"And she can talk too, great." Eda said as she made a shooing motion with her hands. "Now shoo, go back to your angst teenage cabin or something, I don't know."
"Actually Eda, she uh…doesn't remember where she came from?" Luz said towards the owner of the house.
"For real? You sure she isn't just lying to get a free night in?"
"Believe, if I wanted to scam someone I'd go with people with actual money." Lena said towards Eda a bit peeved at being ignored.
"I'll have you know I'm a talented businesswoman." Eda said before turning more serious "Now, you got anything you can use to find a way back home or whatever?"
Wanting to get things over with, Lena checked her pockets looking for anything that she could use to identify herself. She found something in her sweater pocket, a round purple amulet held in a black collar.
"I only have this…" she looked at it, feeling it was important but not really knowing why.
Eda on the other hand did recognize the amulet, her eyes widening in surprise.
"Where did you get that?!" she asked the duckling surprised.
"It was…in my pockets, I don't really remember why though?" Lena responded as she handed it over to Eda.
Taking a look at it more closely, she recognized the subtle craftsmanship in the metal that conformed the pendant. It was eerily similar to someone she knew a long time ago…
"Tell me…does the name Magica ring a bell?" Eda asked the thing.
Lena tried to concentrate, to find anything that could tell her something and she did.
It was subtle at first, like the ringing in your ears that's always there until someone points it out but she did find something.
Magica.
Magica De Spell!
Aunt Magica
"I…I think she is my aunt…"Lena said relieved to have actually remembered something but nervous for reasons she didn't understand yet.
XxXxX
Ever since yesterday, Eda was a lot more curious about the unknown Duck than before. It honestly surprised Luz being accustomed to Eda's mostly apathetic attitude towards other people. Lena was in her room, sleeping the last day over while Luz was in the kitchen with Eda, cleaning some plates from last night, her mentor looking out of it as she finished the last plates.
"Sooooo…." Luz said awkwardly as she tried to break the silence. "Who's Magica?"
"Oh? Sorry I was kinda distracted." She said as she sat in the table alongside Luz. "Well I guess you could say she was my best friend."
"Really?", she'd heard about her Hexside days before, mostly from the Principal, but she'd never heard about her friends other than her sister.
"Yeah! Me, Lillith, Magica and Poe, we were inseparable back then!" She smiled, remembering the many pranks they pulled in their spare time. Either to annoy their siblings or just simply to mess around with those that cross them, Eda Clawthorne and Magica de Spell.
"That's great!" Luz said happily. "Now you can just call her and-"
"Wow,wow slow down there kiddo." Eda calmed down her apprentice and then continued "Even if I knew were she was, I can't just call her out of the blue because of some amnesiac teenager who claims to be her niece. There's a ton of people who'd like to get to me like that, remember Adegast?"
Luz shuddered, remembering the puppeteering demon that had fooled her during her first days on the Isles by catering to her fantasies.
"I'll go to town to get something that'll prove she is who she says she is but I need you two to keep her inside while I go looking for it." Eda said towards her apprentice and King, who'd just jumped in the table.
"Ha! As if some little girl could get the best of me!" King said before he was easily picked up by Luz "Ah, she got the best of me!"
"You can count on us!"
"Great!" She stood up and walked to the door, getting her cape and putting the hood on "Remember, she could be trying to get something from us, so until I come back: Don't. Trust. Her."
And she then got out of the house, not even bothering to aknowledge Hooty's Good Morning.
"Alright! Now we get to spend all day in today! With a cool teen!" Luz said towards King before she thought about it. "What do cool teens even do?"
"Aren't you a teen?"
"I am but I'm not a 'cool' teen, I mean I am cool, but not that kind of 'cool'." She said trying to explain her point to her little friend.
