Scarlett Rose had been with the WWE for three years. She had recently made it on the Raw roster. She was tall, fit, hair a reddish color, and she had icy blue eyes. She was beautiful, but don't let that beauty fool you. She was a little firecracker. She could throw some blows, move quickly, and fly high. Her finisher was the shooting star press. A highly difficult move, she did it with ease.
Scarlett was independent, she hadn't had a boyfriend in a while. So many messy breakups and failed relationships discouraged her from even trying to date anyone. For a while at least…
"Earth to Scarlett," I heard Lexi's voice yell.
"What?" I said quickly and squeakily as I jumped and almost dropped my phone.
"What are you so engrossed in your phone for?" she asked as we drove to the next show.
"Instagram?" I said innocently as I batted my eyes at her.
"Let me see!" she said as she reached over from the driver's side and tried to snatch my phone out of my hand.
"Hey watch the road!" I said as I tried to hide my phone from her.
"Okay you are up to something," Lexi smirked.
"Am not," I lied.
"Who are you crushing on?" she asked, "I know those eyes!"
"Oh come on Lexi!" I scoffed. "What eyes?"
"Is it anyone we know personally?" she asked.
"Don't you have a fiance to call?" I asked trying to change the subject.
"Oh my God it is!" she gasped. "Who is it?"
"If I tell you, you can't act all suspicious when we're around him," I said as I crossed my arms and stared at her sternly. "Like seriously, I doubt he'd even like me like that."
"Oh come on! Who?" she asked excitedly.
"Adam," I said with a sigh as I closed my eyes.
"As in Braun Stroman, Adam Scherr?" she asked with a big smile.
"Yes," I sighed again.
"How could you even think he wouldn't like you like that!? Let me talk to him for you!"
"No! I mean really I don't need a relationship right now anyways," I blew it off.
"No you're just scared, come on Adam is a great guy! Plus I kind of think he has a thing for you anyways. Oh come on Scarlett! Let me talk to him!"
"I'll think about it," I told her.
"You'll eventually say yes," she replied.
A little while later we pulled into the parking lot at the hotel the wrestlers were staying in.
"I'm going up to my room to wind down for the night," I said to her as I started gathering up my things.
"Have you made your mind up yet?" she asked.
"Nope," I said as I quickly got out and made my way to the back of the vehicle to get my bags out and walk into the hotel.
"Give up, cause I'm winning this fight," Lexi said ash she smiled at me, grabbed her bag and walked ahead of me.
I rolled my eyes at her and rolled my bags into the hotel, checked into my room and went up avoiding everyone who was standing around chatting. It had been a long drive and I was ready for the day to be over. Not that it had been a bad one, but I guess I was feeling anxiety over Lexi knowing my secret.
I just wanted my real life crushes to stay to myself. I didn't want the risk of someone trying to hook me up again to another failed relationship. Yes, I've been cheated on, and, yes, it was horrible. I had terrible trust issues, even when the person seems amazing at first. I had been down that road, and I didn't want to go back.
I got to my room, took a shower, and changed into a pair of short shorts and a tight crop top. I laid down on my bed and checked my phone. Lexi had left me a text. "Made up your mind yet?" it read. I sighed and rolled my eyes. She was never going to let me hear the end of this.
"Sleeping on it Lex," I replied before I silenced my phone, turned out the light on the night stand and went to bed for the night.
I awoke the next morning feeling good. I got up and brushed my teeth and got changed into a pair of leggings and a sports bra top. I was going down to the hotel's gym to do an early morning workout.
It was still super early so there was really no one in there. I had the gym all to myself. I stretched and then got in front of one of the mirrors to do my favorite version of cardio, dancing.
After a few songs, I was feeling myself and singing along. I had like three major talents in life, singing, dancing, and wrestling. And they were showed less to more in that order.
As I said before there really was no one in the gym at the time, so I was bothering no one, and by the third song, I was really getting into it. Dancing hard and singing at full volume. I was jamming to La Di Da by Everglow. I finished the song, paused my play list to take a break and grab some water, and almost jumped ten feet in the air when I saw the hulking figure standing off in the corner smiling at me.
"What a way to start my morning," Adam said as he stood there. My eyes got huge. I had never sang in front of him.
I chuckled nervously, "I'm not sure if I should take that as a compliment or not."
"It's a compliment sweetheart," he said with a smile. "Come for a workout and get a show, I'll take that as a good morning."
"Thanks," I said nervously. The sweetheart made my heart almost palpitate.
"You're up early," Adam said, making conversation I assumed.
"Yeah, so are you," I said to him. "I wake up early to work out. This is my cardio."
"I do too," he said with a smile. "I've never tried dancing as cardio, I'm sure I'd look ridiculous trying to do what you do." I laughed.
"Sorry, you never know, you could be a secret fabulous dancer," I chuckled.
"My hulking ass dancing around like that," Adam said, "I highly doubt it darlin."
I shrugged, "It's amusing to consider the thought."
"I guess it is," he chuckled. "Would you happen to have worked up an appetite? I could skip cardio for now. It'd be nice to have breakfast, just the two of us." With that I nearly had a heart attack.
"I'd like that," I said to him with a smile.
"Really?" he asked. "That was easier than I thought it would be."
"Why?" I asked as I put my hands on my hips and cocked my head to the side.
"Because you're beautiful, a tad bit intimidating, and Lexi had always said getting you to go out on a date would be difficult." he said.
"And Lexi talks about me to you why?" I asked, a tad annoyed that Lex was letting my secrets out.
"I may have let it slip to her that I had a thing for you, is that a problem?" he asked, a tad nervously sounding.
"Not a problem at all," I said, cracking a smile. "Honestly I'm surprised she hasn't ran to you and told you that I had a thing for you knowing that now."
"You do?" he said in shock with a big grin.
"Let it out last night on the way here," I chuckled.
"Damn, Lexi should have played matchmaker ages ago," Adam said.
"She was probably getting ready to do it today, I think we beat her to it." I said to him.
"Well, look, I'm going to go upstairs and change out of these gym clothes," Adam said, "where would you like to meet?"
"You wanna meet in my room?" I asked. "I need to throw a tad bit of makeup on if you don't mind. Shouldn't take me but a few minutes."
"Okay," he nodded. "So it's a date?"
"It's a date," I smiled. I rattled off my room number and started walking to the elevator to go to my room. That's when the nervousness crashed down upon me. I was going on my first date in two and a half years. With a guy I had some stronger feelings for than I was first willing to admit. What if it all went horribly wrong and I got hurt again?
Then a voice in my head said stop you idiot! You've got this! It was like I had a little angel and devil on my shoulder. I shook it all off and opened the door to my room. I opened up my bags to find something nice to wear. I didn't want to get too dressed up. It was only breakfast, probably nothing too fancy just yet. I put on a sequin jersey dress, knee high socks, a pair of glitter combat boots that matched the dress. I put my hair in a high ponytail. I added some winged eyeliner, mascara, matte lipstick and was satisfied with my look. Adam knocked on my door and I let him in. He was wearing a tight muscle shirt and jeans. He looked as hot as always and of course his shirt was tight and his pierced nipples that always made me a little hot and bothered were showing.
"You look beautiful," Adam said to me.
"Thanks you look hot," I said with a grin.
"Thanks sweetheart," he said with a smile. "You ready?"
"Yes," I nodded.
We went downstairs and got in his rental. "So I found this little diner that had some good reviews about half an hour away, is that okay? I wanted to go somewhere where no one else would be around to bother us from the company."
"That sounds nice," I said to him with a smile. "Privacy is nice."
"So, how long have you had a thing for me?" Adam asked.
"Oh wow, I don't know, like a year or two maybe longer? It was crazy one day I looked at you and was like damn how have I never seen this before? I've liked you as a person from day one but the attraction came on a little later. How long have you had a thing for me?"
"The first moment I layed eyes on you," Adam said. "Baby girl you're beautiful and your smile made me melt."
"Aw, stop you're making me blush!" I squealed causing Adam to chuckle.
"That's when the first bit of physical attraction came on, but everything else and when it went all full fledged was when I saw you in the ring for the first time. The first time I saw you hit that shooting star, it blew my mind. You always do it so beautifully."
"Thanks," I said with a smile. "I grew up doing gymnastics from a young age. But you already knew that probably."
"I did," he nodded. "Did you quit doing it because you wanted to be a wrestler? I heard you turned down an offer from an elite gym."
"I did," I nodded. "They talked Olympics, that's when I said I wanted to be a diva, half of my family was pissed, but my dad, he enrolled me in all kinds of fighting classes as soon as he could. He supported me all the way. My mom was hesitant at first, but she got behind me when she saw how good I was."
"One of the best decisions in your life, huh?" he asked.
"Definitely," I smiled. "I still practiced gymnastics here and there, didn't want to get rusty so I'd have some moves to work with."
"Smart decision, you've got moves none of the other girls have," he smiled. "Baby girl you're something in that ring."
"Thanks," I grinned. "You're a damn power house. You've definitely deserved the push you've gotten recently."
"I try," he said a bit shyly. "Sorry coming from you that means a lot."
I looked at him and smiled and winked, "Hey, it's true, you're good."
"You are too, are the rumors true you're about to get a big push too?" he asked.
"I don't know," I shrugged. "I hear them too, but no one official has said anything official. But they've been acting odd. I don't know, like they're up to something. They're wanting new entrance music and all that. I'm telling them my stipulations about that tonight."
"What's that?" he chuckled.
"It's a song I've picked, that I've gotten rights to use and rerecord," I said to him.
"It's Korean isn't it?" he asked.
I laughed, "It is."
"That would be very well deserved and a great idea, let the world hear that beautiful voice of yours," he said.
"I just hope the rumors are true about this bigger push," I said to him. "Especially if there's gold in that push."
"So you have heard of that," he said.
I nodded, "Yes. It'd be nice to have my own shirt too." I chuckled.
"It's nice to have your own shirt," Adam chuckled along with me.
"Yeah, a shirt and some gold, I'd have made it," I said. "Well, add Wrestlemania to that and I would be very happy."
"You'll get there, whether you get it soon or not," he said to me as he reached over and grabbed my hand and squeezed it. He didn't let go though, I looked over at our joined hands then locked eyes with him. He winked at me and smiled and I giggled like a little school girl blushing like it was no one's business.
"Hmm," he hummed, "this is nice."
"It is," I agreed.
"You know you can put some music on if you'd like," he said "I wouldn't mind."
"Okay," I shrugged. I kept my left hand in his and picked up my phone with my right. I got out my favorites play list and hit shuffle. Surprisingly a country song played. Adam looked at me a little shocked because most people thought I only listened to K-Pop and a little bit of Cardi B or Megan Thee Stallion and a little American pop here or there.
"You listen to country?" he asked.
"I was born and raised in Alabama, of course I listen to country," I said to him.
"I love this song," Adam chuckled. It was Kiss My Country Ass by Blake Shelton. So we sang the song together and Adam wasn't that bad of a singer himself.
So for the next twenty or so minutes, Adam and I listened to my country play list and sang together. We were laughing and cutting up with each other. It felt good. We were getting along so well. And I felt like there was a ton of chemistry there. Then, I almost melted when Adam sang Who Are You When I'm Not Looking by Blake Shelton. I felt like he was singing to me, hell, maybe he was. I was loving it.
When we got to the diner we went in and got seated. Adam opened the car door for me, of course and we held hands the hold time. When we were at the table looking at the menu we quit holding hands but as soon as our food was ordered he grabbed my hand and started stroking it gently, sweetly, lovingly.
"Everyone calls you Scarlett, but that's not your real name, is it?" Adam asked.
"No," I shook my head. "It's Rosie, or Rose."
"What would you prefer me to call you?" he asked.
"Whatever you feel comfortable calling me."
"Can I call you both? Rosie and Rose? I'll call you Scarlett sometimes too since I'm used to it," he asked.
"Sure," I said with a smile. "Really only my family call me that, but I'm okay with you calling me that."
"Why cause you want me to be your boyfriend?" he asked with a wink.
"Maybe," I smiled.
"Can I be your boyfriend?" he asked.
"Yes," I smiled again.
"Just know this, I promise I won't hurt you," Adam said, "I'm pretty sure I'm already in love with you."
"Really?" I asked with a shocked smile.
"Yes," he smiled at me and kissed my hand.
"I've been falling in love with you too," I said to him.
"I feel like an idiot for waiting to ask you out," Adam said to me.
"Hey, I feel the same about myself."
"Don't insult yourself like that," he said to me.
"Well you don't either," I said to him as I stuck my tongue out at him. Adam chuckled, leaned over the table, taking my face in his hand and kissed me sweetly.
"How was that?" he asked as he pulled away.
"Mind blowing," I said dreamily.
"I'd have to agree," he said gruffly. At that moment we got interrupted. My phone rang. I forgot to cut it off. It was Lexi of course, and I wondered if I should answer it. "Who is it baby?" Adam asked, which made me swoon.
"It's Lexi," I said with an eye roll.
"Answer it," he chuckled.
"Yes, Lex, how may I help you?" I said in a sing song voice.
"Where the hell are you, I was going to get you to come to breakfast," she said to me.
"I'm already at breakfast," I said to her.
"With who?" she asked.
"With my boyfriend," I said with a grin as I locked eyes with Adam.
"Boyfriend?!" Lexi shrieked.
"Long story short, Adam and I met in the gym this morning by chance, he asked me out for breakfast, after a drive and a talk we decided to start dating," I said to her.
"And you didn't think it was a good idea to let me know this?!" she practically shouted. "What the hell Scarlett?"
"We wanted our privacy," I said to her with a shrug that she couldn't see. "I was going to let you know later when we got back to the hotel."
"Oh my god Scarlett Rose! Rosie! Oh my god! I am so happy for you!" she squealed. "Okay I'll let you two have your time together, but we're all riding to the arena together and you're filling me in in!"
"Okay, see you in a bit," I said to her, "Bye Lexi!"
"Bye!" she squealed again.
"She's freaking out of course," I said to him with an eye roll.
"She tried so hard to get me to let her hook us up," Adam said. "I made her swear to keep it a secret."
"So that's what she meant by 'I think he already has a thing for you' last night," I rolled my eyes. "I can't believe we both fought this."
"I feel really stupid for fighting this," he agreed.
Our food came and we ate. As we ate he asked me a little more about my childhood and he filled me in a bit on his. It was fun learning about each other.
"So, what are you doing on your time off this week?" I asked him.
"Probably going down to Tampa, you?" he replied.
"I was going home, I was wondering if you'd like to go with me," I said to him.
"To Alabama?" he asked.
"Yeah, would you like that? I'll show you around my hometown and my home itself of course."
"Hell yeah, I'd love that," he said with a smile.
"Then it's set, it's only a few hours drive anyways," I said to him. "I'll drive if you want." We were in Tennessee at the moment.
"Sounds like a plan baby," he smiled.
"Awesome," I smiled back.
We made our way back to the town we were having the event at. When we got back it was already time to head to the arena. Lexi met me at my room where I was going to get my bags.
"So? Come on tell me!" she said excitedly.
I walked in the room and started gathering up my things. "Well, we talked a lot. And we had a lot of fun together singing and what not. We talked some more. Then he asked if it was okay to call me by my real name. Then he asked if it was okay to be my boyfriend. I said yes of course. Then he told me he was pretty sure he was in love with me already and I said the same. Then a little while later we kissed and it was mind blowing. Oh my god Lex, I am so happy!"
"Scarlett! I have never seen you this happy, you're practically glowing! Ah I am so happy for you!" Lexi grabbed me and hugged me. "I cannot wait to fill Ryan in! Wait, are you two going public?"
"Yes," I nodded, "We talked about it on the drive back."
"So many people are going to be shocked Miss "I'm going to be single forever"," Lexi chuckled.
"Oh shut up," I said to her as I rolled my eyes. There was a knocking at my door, I knew it was Adam. "That's him, let's go."
"Ready?" Adam asked as I opened the door.
"Yep," I smiled.
"Alright, let's go," he said.
When we got outside everyone was finding people to ride with. Adam was carrying some of my bags and Lexi was beaming looking at us. Bray came up to us. Lex had been working with him for months in his Fiend gimmick. Him and Adam were good friends of course. They rode together sometimes and I rode with Mandy and Dana sometimes and Trinity and Lana sometimes.
"What's going on here?" Mandy said as she came up behind us.
"That's what I'm wondering," Bray said. Then he looked between me and Adam and smiled.
"Strowman and Scarlett are dating?" Dana said in surprise.
"No way!" Trin said.
"Yes," I nodded.
"What?!" A collective from all the superstars around us.
Randy Orton come up to me and put an arm around me, we were friends after I shared that he had been one of my favorite wrestlers in the business coming up. "Thank you," he said to me.
"For what?" I asked in confusion.
"A lot of people owe me money," he chuckled.
"For?" I asked.
"Little Miss "I'll be single forever" I knew it'd be another wrestler you'd fall for and I knew you wouldn't be single forever. Kim said you'd give up on men here and move to Korea and find a man there (this made me die laughing). Still I knew you'd find someone sooner rather than later. I win on that one."
"You assholes betting on my dating life," I chuckled rolling my eyes.
"And for that I owe you dinner, double date night with you two and me and Kim soon?" Randy bargained.
"Sounds like a plan," I said with a smile.
Lexi and Bray decided to ride with me and Adam. I drove to the arena blasting my music. Between songs Adam turned the song down to ask me a question.
"What song is it that you want to record and use as your new entrance music?" he asked.
"'Scream' by Dreamcatcher. They are my favorite group and it would be a good one. If not that one either Pop/stars or The Baddest by K/DA which is a virtual group with various artists including K-Pop stars from group (G)I-dle. Depending on the direction they want to go with me. I hope they agree."
"Scream is a good one for you," Lexi said, "I've heard you sing it enough and of course you translated for me. The other two fit you well too though."
"I just hope you're getting this rumored push," Adam said.
"As do I," I hummed.
When we got to the arena, it wasn't long before I was called into my requested meeting about the entrance music. Little did I know it was going to be much bigger than that.
Lexi was there too. We were both a tad confused. That's when they told us their idea. Lexi and I would be put into a storyline of us feuding. They'd use our background friendship and Lexi's new storyline with her doll Lily. They told me this feud would last a while but it would, sooner or later, put me in the title picture if I went over well with the fans.
Lexi and I were ecstatic. We were finally getting to work together. I was getting my well deserved push. And I couldn't wait to go tell Adam. We went to a secluded area of the arena to have some time alone and for me to fill him in. He jumped up, pulled me into his arms and kissed me passionately when I told him the news.
"I knew you'd be in the spotlight soon," he said to me excitedly. "I'm so proud of you, you've worked your ass off for this."
"You have no idea," I said to him with a bright smile. "I am so excited!"
"So what did they say about your music?" he asked.
"I'm recording a few options of my choice, they'll choose later," I said with a smile. "I added one more."
"When are you going to play these songs for me?" he asked.
"When we go out here and sit together for a while," I said to him as I grabbed his hand and led him out into the arena.
We walked up into the nosebleeds and sat. I lay my head on Adam's big shoulder and sighed in content. If you told me a week ago I'd be sitting out in the arena with my boyfriend, a boyfriend I actually really cared about, I'd have told you that you were crazy. Yet, here I was.
"So the songs?" Adam said after a few moments of silence.
"Patience my love," I said to him with a giggle. I grabbed my phone and looked up the songs I was going to record. I played them for him and sang along. As I sang I showed Adam English translations of the songs.
Adam looked at me after the songs were finished playing, "I know you said 'Scream' is by you favorite artist but I don't know if that one would fit before your feud with Lexi," Adam said. "That one 'The Baddest' fits pretty well and so does 'Pop/Stars'. I really like 'Dun Dun' too. That one's a good one for you. I guess we'll have to wait to see what they decide."
"What if they don't like any of them," I said to him. "Hmm maybe I need to pick out a few more to take to them," I said as I dove into the music in my phone.
"Rose it's going to be fine," Adam said to me as he grabbed my phone and sat it on the ground next to him. "Come on, get off your phone and spend time with me."
"Okay," I said with a shrug and a smile.
"I can't wait to see your home in Bama," Adam said to me with an excited smile.
"I can't wait to show it to you. I bet you'll love my Wo-man cave," I chuckled.
Adam laughed, "You'll have to explain that to me."
"It's better to just show you," I said to him with a grin.
"I'll have something to look forward to even more then now," he said.
"Yep," I grinned. "We can get in the hot tub and chill out by the pool."
"I can't wait," Adam said with a grin. "I just can't wait to be truly alone with you."
"Why is that?" I asked as I cocked my head to the side coyly. I had an idea.
"You know why, I can hear it in your voice," he chuckled. "Unless you think that would be moving to fast."
"Nah," I shook my head. "It's been a long time coming, why wait?"
"Hmm we're on the same page then baby," he said with a smile.
"Now I have something to look forward to now, too," I grinned.
