Lps High Ep. 6 Needles and Pins
After such a great class Pepper was going to lunch while listening to a lovely song by Buddy Holly with her headphones. She walked into the room seeing Zoe there waiting for her. Pepper walked to her in a rush "Jeez, Pepper you're quick today what is it?" Zoe asked her. Pepper sat down beside her and couldn't wait to tell her. "Zoe...something happened today in history…Zoe" Pepper said. "We did an assignment today…and...i got to help him today and he was...really nice". Zoe was a bit confused so she wondered who it was and Pepper told her "It was...Sunil, Zoe...he talked and we helped each other with our work today". Pepper looked at Zoe as she slightly bursted out a bit of joy but kept it quiet. "Oh my god Pepper...you got to do that didn't you tell me you kinda liked him? You did and now you not only talked but you coped with him oh you should be so proud". Pepper smiled as Zoe was so excited and happy for her. "Well besides that amazing thing Pepper let's get in line for food". They got in line and got their daily school food and finished the lunch period.
After such a good day at school for Pepper it was finally time to go home. Pepper pit oh her headphones and put on a song that reminded her of that moment as she enjoyed the song through the halls listening to the lyrics of it "I saw her today, I saw her face was a face that i loved. But I knew I had to run away, get down on my knees and pray. But that didn't go away". She went through the halls happy and cheerful but she realized she had a put to catch. She started running towards the bus loop only to watch it drive off as soon as she got outside. Thanks to her thoughts and a song she missed her bus and now really had nowhere else to go. Pepper just decided to walk home since Zoe had already left and she didn't feel like calling her for help now. She walked through downtown and was almost halfway home. The cars filled the streets and the sidewalks were empty all Pepper had was her music to fill the loneliness. As she walked through town she came up on a group of guys she knew at school but they weren't the nicest type Pepper tried to walk past them but they saw her "Hey...looky here whoo man" Rich said. Rich was part of a small wanna be gang in the town a nasty type to find alone. His friends weren't so different or as nice. Pepper wanted to walk past them "Hey girl what are you doin around this street" Pepper stopped and started to get nervous again. "I...Im...going ...going home" she said. "Oh jeez girl you ain't got enough words in that mouth of yours. Why'd you let me put somethin in that mouth of your bitch?" Rich asked. "No! I..mean i have to go...im sorry" Pepper said. He grabbed her arm as she tried to run away "Hey! I don't think so! Get the fuck over her and imma give you a good fuckin time!" They grabbed her and began to pull her down as they did a short siren started as a cop car pulled up. They soon realized it was a sheriff's car that belonged to Sheriff Johnson, the town's longest running sheriff in service. The car door opened as he came out with a shotgun by his side. "What's with the heat officer?" Rich asked him. He walked up to them seeing Pepper nearly crying and looking back at Rich "You know what it's for Richie. Let her go". Rich protest "Hey, im payin her Sheriff you know like I always do its good cash for the little slut you know….". "I don't give a damn what you're paying because what i'm seeing is she wants no business with you Richie...Let her go now!" The sheriff interrupted him. Richie finally agreed to not get shot today and let Pepper go and she ran towards the Sheriff car. "You either change this shit you call a life Richie or your chances are done". Richie honestly didn't care too much about what he had to say and they all left the scene. Sheriff Johnson looked at Pepper "Okay...come on let me take you home" he said. They got into the car but Pepper was silent most of the time. "I'm sorry Pepper I really am. I would lock him up so badly if I could, I promise. But he's the majors son in law. It's bullshit no man should be allowed to get away with that". Pepper honestly began to cry "Don't think about it…you have no reason to think it's okay". Sheriff Johnson rarely knew Pepper but he's known her mother all his life and went to school with her back then. He knew Pepper meant everything to her mother and he cared about her as they had a great friendship back then. Pepper never even knew he wasn't supposed to be patrolling that day because he saw her walking from the school alone. He drove into the driveway as he stopped the car and Pepper got out walking away as she quietly said "Thank...you" to the sheriff. She walked past her mother "Hey sweetie how was…" she said as she watched Pepper walk past her up to her room. Her mother looked back at Sheriff Johnson "Hello John, you wanna come in for a bit?" Ms. Clark asked. He accepted her offer as he needed to tell her what happened since she deserved to know. She brought him into the living room where he sat on the couch and she was kind enough to bring him a cup of coffee. "So, what's going on or what happened to Pepper John?" She asked. "Pepper missed the bus I guess and she just decided to walk home. Well she ended up running into Richie and his friends on mainstreet. They...well...they were going to hurt in a way we couldn't live with I guess not kill her I mean...they were going to rape her Ms. Clark…im sorry but that's what would've happened if I didn't show up". She was so shocked that someone would want to do that to her poor daughter "Ohh...im glad your honest John it's best if i know the right truth i'm just glad I had you to help her". "Their sick kids Allena I would put them in a cell faster than anything if i could the only reason i can't is because Richie is the Mayor's son in law which is stupid". "Well I hope we can do something about John besides all of this. How have you been?". He took a sip from the coffee "I've been okay...so so as always. What about you Allena?" He asked her. "Oh well besides all the things happening i've been okay I just wish she was okay". She couldn't stop thinking about how it had to be her daughter. She got up to go see her upstairs. She went to the quiety calling her daughter's name and slowly opened the door. She saw her lying there crying "Hey...Pepper I'm sorry for what happened...do you want to be alone just a bit longer honey?" her mother asked. Pepper shook her head "Mmhmm….please" she said to her mother then she left her room. John stood there as she told him that Pepper wants to be alone right now but he guessed that. They went back down stairs to spend a bit more time together. They went back into the living room as they did. Pepper got up and went to her cassette player she had in her room and played a certain tape with a to make her a bit happier. She sat down listening to the player "Only trouble is...Jezz wizz...Im dreaming my life away…". She was upset about what happened but she still remembered that amazing class with Sunil. Helping him and getting to finally see him was a dream to her now. Pepper really liked him as she has never had a crush on anyone before. As she played the music John and her mother heard it in the background "Pepper really special Allena not many teens are like her. She loves beautiful things and I know where she gets it from" John told her. She handed her hand to him and they slowly danced in the living room listening to her music. And as they relieved times that are long gone Pepper walked down slowly peeking over seeing them dancing. She kinda wondered what it's like to dance with Sunil and she walked back up without being seen to her room for the end of a day.
