Tom looked at the orphanage where he grew up and raised an eyebrow in surprise. The orphanage looked new and it is not the same gloomy place where he spent his childhood. He went to the door and entered the orphanage, children were playing and the place is renovated.
"Hello, sir. How can I help you?" A woman in her mid-twenties sitting at the reception asked him.
"I'm here for Miss Pincer." Tom said to her.
"Can I ask you what you want from her?" The woman asked confused.
Tom said the same nonsense that Dumbledore once said to the previous matron Mrs Cole. The woman looked a bit unconvinced.
"I'll call Bella's mother, the chief matron of the place." The woman said to him and left.
Tom raised an eyebrow at her retreating figure. The chief matron, she must be the one who changed this place so much. Tom went in and saw that the place has better furniture compared to what he was used to. The sofa and armchairs were a bit modern but not too expensive. There is a television for the children too. Tom hummed and looked towards the door when it opened. Both of them were shocked when they looked at each other.
"Lyna?" Tom was the first one out of shock. Hearing her name brought her out of shock.
"M-My L-Lord?" The woman named Lyna stuttered.
"Explain!" Tom exclaimed.
"W-Why don't we go to my rooms?" She said looking down.
Tom narrowed his eyes but nodded and followed her as she led him through the same door that she entered a few moments back. Both of them were silent as they went to her room. Tom sat on the couch while she sat on the armchair.
"Why did you let everyone believe that you were dead? Why did you run away? Did you think we will lose the war? Did you not believe me? The woman said you are Miss Pincer's mother. You were pregnant at that time and never informed any of us. Why? Tell me." Tom demanded.
"It was a mistake. He was drunk and that was the only reason he slept with hates me, my lord. He will think I took the opportunity of his drunken state and slept with him. I didn't want to but I couldn't stop him when he made the first move, I loved him and I still do. I was afraid of getting rejected and left the next day, he didn't remember anything and I was happy for it. But after a month I started throwing up and feeling sick for no reason. I'm a healer and I knew I was pregnant. They will ask me who the father is if I stayed. I was afraid and I made a plan and ran away." She was crying as she finished.
"You could've came to me." Tom said still angry.
"I- He was your left hand man. I'm nothing, why would you help me? If he knew about the baby wanted it gone, you would support him. I have no one. My parents hate me, death eaters don't trust me as I'm a Gryffindor. Even you never trusted me completely. You were just waiting for an opportunity that proves me as the traitor and kill me. I wanted my baby to have a happy childhood. I'm sorry but I didn't have any choice." She said wiping her tears.
Tom couldn't say that he never doubted she might be a traitor because he did doubt her. She is a Gryffindor, golden girl of Gryffindor. Dumbledore might've sent her to him to get information and never said much about his plans to her. He regrets now doing that but he was paranoid and still is. He still remembers that day when he heard from his death eaters about the attack and that Lyna died killing Moody and several other aurors with her.
"How did you do it?" Tom asked looking at her curiously.
"I imperiused a low level auror who is still training. I made her take the polyjuice potion and sent her in to the middle of the group. I made some changes to the polyjuice so that it won't wear off when she is dead. As soon as she was in between them. I casted the bombarda spell on them and threw my wand to where she lied in the middle." Lyna explained.
"How did you know about their attack? I don't remember informing you." Tom raised an eyebrow.
"Sirius." She sighed after a long time.
"Lord Black?" Tom said frowning.
"He was the one who helped me when I knew I was pregnant. He is neither dark nor light. He joined the Auror academy only to irritate his mother but he never supported Dumbledore. He never said anything to me when I joined you. He told me about the auror attack and we planned it together. Well, it was more him planning what to do as I was pregnant and my hormones were acting badly. I was just sitting their crying as he did the whole planning." Lyna said to him.
"I take that you are the reason for him to go to his father and make amends with his family?" Tom asked her.
"He tried to convince me to go back to the father of my baby but I didn't want to. He wanted to help me and to help me he needs money. His uncle gave him money but that won't be sufficient for me to start a new life. So he went back to his family and as he is the eldest, he became heir and now the lord. He stayed with me till I delivered the baby and visited twice a week after delivery. He sends me money every month even now. He is the best friend that I can ask for." Lyna said smiling a little.
"I can guess the father of your daughter and I hope I'm not wrong." Tom looked at her pointedly.
"I'll go call her." Lyna said leaving the room.
