Ahhh, Christmas. A time for joy and family.
NOT!!
For one Futakuchi Kenji, this time reminded him of his basically non-existent parents at this point and siblings who would love to sell him off for absolutely no reason at all.
Oh, and let's not forget that he now has to deal with planning stuff for his team because guess what, being captain isn't easy. It's actually really fucking hard.
And his boyfriends are no use at all.
I'm fact, when he expressed his tiredness dealing with the new first years and being captain, Kamasaki just laughed in his face whilst telling him it was karma. Sasaya and Moniwa had a bit more respect and told him to 'hold out' whilst also sniggering at him. In fact, it seemed like the only one to actually see that Kenji was being genuine was Aone and he simply just looked at him and said to take care. Yeah, how exactly?
And now, on this wonderful December night where most couples would be out there cuddling each other under a thick blanket whilst watching some romantic Christmas movie or a family might be getting together to celebrate.
Not him. No, no, no!
What he's currently doing is lying down on his bed, head aching after crying for the last 30 minutes over the sad truth that nobody loves him and that his boyfriends can truly be happy without him in their lives.
But it would soon be revealed that he didn't have to be insecure about his boyfriends, because they will always love him.
Kenji stared at his clock once again, glaring as best as he could at the red flashing colours that showed 19:00.
When he grabbed his phone it still had absolutely no notifications from anybody. Not even some of his siblings texted to pick on him.
It was completely radio silence.
The brunette huffed and turned over in his bed, back facing his alarm and curled up into an even tighter ball and snuffed a couple of times, trying to keep the tears at bay.
Okay, yes, he will admit that he was hurt slightly by the fact that none of his boyfriends had texted him at all during the entire week. And when they had texted him it was because he had texted first and they would always reply with 'I'm busy'.
And yes, he liked to act like an emo brat and pretend that nothing hurt him or got in his way, but truth is? He did get hurt. He got hurt so fucking much and he just wanted it to end. But noooo, life liked to mess with him.
He sniffed again as he thought of the people who had actually managed to get him out of his shell.
Aone had always been a constant presence in his life. They've known each other since they were in elementary when he had stuck up for the taller boy when people had tried to get him into trouble and had taken the blame instead. Ever since then, ironically, Aone had acted as a mini bodyguard and was always with Kenji. Not that the brunette minded. It was actually kinda nice to have someone put up with his bullshit but be able to talk him away from even the craziest of things.
Moniwa had been a more loving and worrying welcome to his life. He fretted about everything almost constantly but he was that strong support that you just knew that you could count on when things got hard in life.
Kamasaki had been a….surprise. He had most certainly not expected to fall in love with the muscled man but here they are, happy and in love. Well, to be fair with you they argue a lot but in the long run, it's good for Kenji to be challenged and grounded instead of being let loose and free.
Sasaya had been the cool presence he didn't know he needed until he got it. With the raven, it was so easy to just sit down and relax. Sure the man teased him a lot, but he also allowed him space for quiet and Kenji couldn't be more grateful.
Which was why it hurt like an utter bitch when he realised that despite the fact that he needed them, they didn't need him. It hurt so, so much.
And yes, sometimes Kenji can be an asshole which can result in the silent treatment. However, this time around he hadn't done anything to be outcasted by the people who he loved and thought loved him back.
Maybe it was because he was complaining too much about his personal life and not being quiet enough. Kamasaki did say that he was way too loud and the rest agreed with him. Maybe this was another form of karma that he had and they were laughing about him right this minute because poor, bratty Kenji can't handle a couple of family spats.
A sob escaped him and he curled in tighter.
"I-I thought they loved me." he cried out, his trembling having nothing to do with cold. Nothing answered back to him. Nothing reassured him of their love for him and soon enough, his heart broken sobs lulled him to sleep.
When Kenji woke up it was to somebody lightly shaking his shoulder awake and a soft voice whispering into his ear.
"Come on, Ken. It's wakey time." due to the disorientation of crying earlier and getting woken up, he didn't recognise the voice whispering into his ear.
He struggled to open up his eyes and when he opened them up he flinched backwards when he saw Moniwa which didn't go unnoticed by the elder who seemed to have a sad frown on his face.
"M-moniwa?" he felt mortified when all he could do was whimper out his boyfriend's name in surprise.
"Hey baby." the curly haired man said, smiling down gently at him, carding his fingers through his hair. "Let's get you up, kay?"
"W-what are you doing here?" one of the many things that Kenji hated about crying was that after he finished crying he reverted back to an utter child which just increased the utter mortification of having to have had to cry in the first place.
"We wanted to see you, baby. Come on. Saki and the others wanna see you." cooed Moniwa sweetly at his boyfriend, heart beating quickly at the adorable display but also breaking because he had an inkling on why his boyfriend was crying in the first place.
"B-but why? I-I thought you w-were happier without me?" mumbled Futakuchi, refusing to look at his shorter boyfriend but allowing himself to be manhandled downstairs.
"But baby, we want you here." promised Moniwa, subtly speeding up their steps, realising that his boyfriend is going to need some major reassurance.
"Then how come you haven't texted! Real nice way of showing you want me here!" the after effects of crying were disappearing and now angry tears were taking over sad tears.
"We were doing something for you, baby." Moniwa was grateful that Kenji hadn't stopped walking, making it easier to take him to the living room.
"Yeah right!" scoffed Kenji. However, any more snarkiness was cut off when two muscular arms wrapped around his body and lifted him up. "Ahh!"
"It's true, doll." said Kamaski gruffly but Kenji.
"No it's not!" and it wasn't even the insecurities of them ignoring him this week. These had been insecurities from the way before.
"Yes it is, honey." reassured Sasaya softly as he joined Kamasaki in hugging him.
"N-no I-it isn't." struggled Kenji with both trying to escape the hug and to stop his tears from falling but he failed with both.
"Shhh." Aone soothed him, rubbing his back gently, everyone following his lead to help and calm Kenji down.
When Kenji finally calmed down he looked up at Kamaski.
"W-why are you guys here? I-I thought you guys didn't want to be here." screw his sensitivity and insecurity sometimes
"We will always want you, doll." Kamasaki's words were firm and it was clear that there would be no arguing with his tall boyfriend.
"We are so, so sorry that we made you doubt your place in our hearts, Keiji." the guilt in Sasaya's voice could be heard all the way in America and Kenji did the only thing he knew would snap his boyfriend out of it. He kissed his cheek.
"It's fine you guys. Like, I'm over it already."
"He's lying." countered Aone and Kenji sent him a pout.
"Rude." he pouted before gasping as Moniwa hugged him from behind, sliding freezing hands up his shirt.
"We really are sorry for being berks the past couple of months and we're especially sorry for not checking up on you during a time for your loved ones. How about we make it up to you." looking around the room Kenji knew he would wake up sore but he couldn't help but lean into their embrace.
"Fine. Let's see if you can truly give me a happy Christmas."
