JJ woke up it her phone ringing beside her, groaning she rolled over and grabbed it, looking at the caller ID she realized it was hotch. 'Great that means a case' she thought to herself

"Hello" she said answering the phone

"JJ we have a case" hotch said simply but there was something in his voice which suggested there more to it then that.

"When do I need to come in?"

"JJ it's in south rock Washington." Hotch said carefully

And there it was, this definitely wasn't gonna be a normal case.

JJs heart sunk, she thought for a moment before she started talking again. "Hotch im sorry but I need to sit this one out"

"JJ, you know the town and its people better then any of us, we need you on this case" hotch knew he shouldn't push her but they really were gonna need her

"When do I need to come in" JJ repeated her earlier question

"Wheels up in 2 hours" hotch said and hung up without another word

JJ glanced over at her clock it was a little past 6, she had two choices, one go back to sleep for a few minutes, or two get up and actually be awake by the time they leave for Washington.

She went with the option one, she 'Tried' to go back to sleep, but her mind wouldn't stop racing. She never wanted to go back, all that was there was bad memories and hate. Eventually she pulled herself out of bed and headed to the bathroom.

A hour later she was dressed and getting on the jet.

Hotch started briefing the team "Alright, two nights ago three children were found dead in the middle of a park in south rock Washington, two of the kids were 12 while the other was 14, two girls and one boy, each with a clean gunshot to the head. Now three days before they were killed a 911 call was placed on a burner phone claiming there was something going on in the town."

"there were signs of prolonged sexual assault but not recently" Emily questioned

"So the children had been raped but not on the night of their murders, interesting" Reid said

"Could these be mercy killings, he shot these kids clean in the head almost like he didn't want them to suffer." Morgan asked

"And the way the body's were positioned shows signs of remorse" Rossi added, and they all nodded in agreement.

"Garcia what do these kids have in common" hotch asked Penelope who had just got on a call with them.

"Well everything, they went to the same doctor, grocery store, church, school, but because of the size of the town everyone does."

"Wait I thought one of them was 14 they would be in high school while the others are in middle school." Morgan said

"It's all one school" JJ said plainly. Everyone turned to her she hadn't said a word since they got on the jet. "All grades kindergarten through 12th are in one school" She scooted up in her chair to reach the file "and these aren't mercy killings, the spot they were laid is where hunters in the town go to trade their meats, these kids were put up like dead animals"

"JJ how do you know all this" Emily's asked

"I grew up there"

There was a long silence.

"Do you know of anyone who would do this" Rossi asked breaking the silence

"Not a clue"

They landed a hour outside of south, it was already 5:00pm which meant it would be dark by the time they got into town. They loaded into 2 SUVs, one with JJ, Emily and Rossi, and one with Reid, Morgan, and hotch.

"You okay" Rossi asked JJ who was staring out the window

"Yeah" JJ assured "I'm fine"

JJ definitely wasn't fine, she knew what was coming and she didn't like it.

As they pulled into the police station, JJ took a deep breath, it was time.

They all got out of the car as they were greeted by a local detective outside the station, it was JJs job to introduce every everyone.

"Detective," she greeted calmly

"Jennifer" he spat surprising the whole team, except for JJ who just looked blank

"These are SSAs hotch Rossi Morgan prentiss, and Dr Reid" JJ said calmly "this is detective walker"

Detective walker tore his Glare away from JJ to greet the others, he shook everybody's hand except JJs, which hotch noticed, but he also noticed JJ didn't make any move to shake his hand either.

It as dark outside and everyone was tried to the plan was to start work in the morning.

"Not we don't have a hotel around here but we got a tavern guests stay at, I'm sure you can find your way there." Walker said

"Thank you, well be back in the morning" hotch said before ushering his team back to the SUVs. They had really only stopped by the station to find out where they were staying.

"Wait a second, we have no idea where this place is," Morgan said what they were all thinking

JJ sighed "I'll drive one SUV, hotch follow me in the other"

JJ kept her eyes in the road, but her mind was far away. She didn't know how to go about solving this case, on one hand there was no proof of what she was thinking, but on the other hand she had a gut feeling.

JJ pulled into the tavern, which was also known as 'the hut' and parked the SUV closely followed by hotch.

Everyone climbed out and headed inside to get away from the freezing cold.

The tavern was more like a large house then anything, except it had a lobby and front desk instead of a living room.

Hotch signed in and the second the lady at the front desk caught sight of JJ she hurried and gave him the keys to the rooms, and ran off to make a phone call.

They split up as normal, hotch and Rossi in one room, Reid and Morgan in the next, and JJ and Emily in another.

JJ knew the place pretty well so she didn't waste time going up to her room, several others also headed to their rooms leaving only Emily and Derek left. Emily was about to follow JJ but was stopped by Dereks voice "take care of our girl" and he left without another word

Emily knew what he meant, something was clearly bothering the blonde, and Emily was gonna figure it out.

Emily went up the same stairs JJ had a few moments ago and found her room, it was like a basic hotel room, with two queen size beds and a tv. But it also had a bookshelf full of books, a microwave and mini fridge.

JJ was coming out of the bathroom changed into her pajamas when Emily had came in, and Emily saw that as the perfect opportunity to ask JJ about a few things. She knew starting with asking JJ if she was ok was a bed idea, she has to gain some trust first.

"Hey JJ, so have you stayed here before" Emily asked as her examined the books on the shelf.

"Oh, you know a few times," JJ replied, not really paying attention to Emily, she was just looking out the window for a moment before closing the blinds.

Emily recognized her tone of voice and realized she wasn't getting any answers tonight, and to be honest she felt a little stupid to think JJ would open up right away.

JJ pulled a book out of her bag and sat on the bed to read, while the bed older agent went to shower.
