I'm sorry that this isn't another chapter of Red vs Blue: Reach, but this is still in its universe. It's a one-shot about Tucker and Kaikaina reconciling and becoming normal friends after the events of Singularity. Anyways, enjoy.
Waiting Room, Donald Doyle General Hospital
New Armonia, Chorus
Sometime in 2557
Lavernius Tucker
15:00 Hours
The bright light that dominated the Donald Doyle General Hospital seemed to have a strange effect on Tucker's armor. While it shone brightly through most environments like a light in the dark, the hospital's white light dimmed its luminosity down. However, his blond hair wasn't affected by the light's effects.
While the soldier stood outside of his mentor's hospital room, his mind traveled back to the whole "paradox" business. Not only was he stuck doing the same things over and over again, but he was also trapped in a literal nightmare engine and was forced to watch Felix execute his friends while he taunted him. Thankfully, Donut was able to save him, because when shit hit Tucker's fan, the annoying pink soldier was there to try and clean it off.
While waiting for the ship that would take them to Earth to show up, the aqua swordsman stayed with Washington, hoping that he would wake up so he could talk to him.
"Still standing there?"
Tucker turned to see Kaikaina Grif walking into the room, her helmet in her hands. The light seemed to make her armor look greener, unlike the dull aqua his armor became.
"Yeah. Can we go home yet?"
"Not just yet." Kaikaina stopped next to the man, facing the window to Wash's room.
"Um, so can I talk to you for a minute?" Tucker asked.
"Sure. What for?"
"I need to apologize to you." Tucker took a deep breath before he continued. "I was an asshole to you. In the time I've known you, I never took your feelings into account, and during all of the time travel shit, I just kept doing crazy shit that kept breaking the flow of everything just so I could get you to fuck me. After all that fucking time, all I did was get you to hate me, because my stupid ass only thought of you as something to bed rather than a living, breathing human being, and I thought I was all better just because I had a special sword."
Tucker placed a hand on Kaikaina's shoulder, causing the brunette to look him in the eyes.
"Kaikaina, I genuinely like you. You're cute, you're funny, and you sure as hell aren't as much of an asshole as I am. I may not have acted like it, but I was overjoyed to see you run out of that Pelican along with the Lieutenants, and if anyone ever hurt you, I don't know what I'd do. So, if you even remotely like me, then could we just be friends? Not fuck buddies, or lovers, just, normal friends."
Since when did Tucker ever spill his guts out to a girl? Was it anytime in his past? No, he was perverted as hell. Was it when he met Tex and Carolina? Hell no, he just wanted to seduce them. No, it was right now, to the little sister of Red Team's designated driver, outside of a hospital room.
A single tear leaked out of the young woman's eye, and a slight blush adorned her face. After a few seconds of uncomfortable silence, Kaikaina smiled and dropped her helmet, wrapping her arms around Tucker's torso, her head set on his chestplate.
"I'm glad you were finally honest with yourself." she said, chuckling. "After all this time, you finally told me what you really thought of me, and you finally apologized for all that bullshit. I was hoping for that, Tucker."
She stood on her tiptoes and kissed the man, who didn't expect such an action. After they broke apart, there was a very noticeable blush on Tucker's face, which Kaikaina merely giggled at.
"Consider that a friend's kiss." she said, the smile never leaving her face.
"Yeah, I will."
"So, you think that Wash is up yet?" the brunette asked.
Tucker looked through the window and saw the man sleeping on the bed.
"He's still sleeping."
"Are you wondering why we're here?"
The question caught Tucker off-guard.
"Um, how am I supposed to answer that? As far as I know, we're just a cosmic coincidence."
"No, silly. I mean, why are we standing in front of a hospital room? We should go outside and enjoy ourselves. Normally, of course."
"I agree. See you, Wash."
Tucker handed Kaikaina her helmet and picked up his own, walking out of the room while his hand found Kaikaina's and secured it.

Dexter Grif
15:09 Hours
Grif stood on the hospital's rooftop, gazing into the city below. Everything still hung heavy on the orange soldier, who was not cut out for warfare or any of the shit he went through. He was not a time traveler, nor was he a gymnast, just a guy who liked cars, food, and RR. Unlike Tucker or Kaikaina, he had a helmet on.
Suddenly, a blue armored soldier stepped onto the rooftops.
"What do you want, Caboose?" he asked, prepared for a litany of stupidity.
"I wanted to talk to you, Grif." he replied, stepping next to the man. "About friendship and stuff, and I want to tell you things."
Grif felt a little weird after Caboose's statement. Why did he want to talk to him about friends?
"Fire away."
"Um, so, first of all, Tucker decided to say sorry to Sister and they're being friends now."
The cynical man was slightly irritated now. He wasn't exactly against Tucker being with his sister, but he wasn't going to let him screw her or anything. He sighed in irritation.
"Are you lonely, Grif?"
"Lonely? What the fuck is that supposed to mean?"
"You don't really have anyone to talk to, and you seem to get angry about Tucker and Sister being together."
"I've got Simmons to talk to, and I end up talking to you a lot."
"I mean girls."
Girls? Grif was attracted to women, but in his first and only relationship, things didn't go well.
"What do you mean?"
"I think you want a girlfriend, Grif. You don't like Tucker being with Sister because you wish you had a girl to be with, don't you?" Caboose removed his helmet, freeing the spiky brown hair he had.
Grif had to admit, what the younger man said was true. He was lonely, and he just wanted to share his life with a girl of his own, so he felt jealous of Tucker when he and Kaikaina got together.
"Yes." he replied, almost angrily. "What the fuck are you poking around my life for?"
Caboose began to shake in fear of Grif's wrath.
"I-I just wanted to help you." he said, his voice imitating a scared little boy.
"What?" Grif asked, his anger being swapped out for curiosity.
"I want to help you fall in love, so you could get married, and start a family, you know." he said.
"How could you help me with my love life?"
"I have seventeen sisters, and they're all different from me, but I think you'd like one of them."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. I just want everyone to be happy. If everyone wasn't so mean or sad, then it would be better for everyone, and the same stuff with the same idiots wouldn't happen." Caboose said.
"Um, thank you for trying to help me, but I can't leave again, or we'll fall apart at the seams. I have to be the hate-glue."
"If everyone isn't being mean to each other, then you could be happy. Maybe Sarge and everyone else could be nice to you."
"I guess. If Simmons was a girl, then life would a million fucking times easier."
Caboose began to laugh, the words spoken by Grif being incredibly funny to him. After easing up, Caboose faced Grif again.
"Hey, you could also get Donut to stop trying to put you and Simmons together!"
"Yeah, I could."
"Guys, it's time to go!" Simmons said through the helmet comms.
"Okay, Simmons." Grif said, sighing. "Caboose, I'll take your offer. Let's go."
"Yay! Time to begin Operation Get Grif A Girlfriend!"
Grif chuckled, walking back down the long winding stairs to the ground floor. If everything went well, then he would have a girlfriend at last. Life would be complete.
Thank you for reading this, guys. I may have not written about RvB: Reach for a long time, but I haven't forgotten about it. This one-shot takes place before the Reds and Blues are given the offer to become Spartan-IVs, and so you could consider it to be a new chapter to the story. Please review this story and tell me what you think of this. Until next time, then.
