Space Monster

Wilton woke up and felt again the thrill of a new day. At least that is what he would like to feel. But he was hearing strange noises out in the backyard. It was sounding as if a fox was at the chickens. With distaste he began to dress to go outside to see what the rucus was all about. He had decided to wear his new jeans with the red calico patches.

Outside he found nothing amiss. It seemed to have quieted down. The chickens seemed to have been fed. Wilton could not remember feeding them so someone else must have. It looked like another quiet day was beginning.

They lived in a rural town in Louisiana. His wife Sue Ellen could catch the eye of any of the men in Dobbs Ferry. Also she could attract many of them in Kregsberg.

Wilton then remembered his beautiful young wife. He loved looking at her. She was so pretty at certain times in the morning. Her curling dark hair would wave as she tossed it up behind her. He was not sorry that he had married her but he was getting a little worried. He had known that she was a flirt. But then he could not have her giving him the feeling that she was going out and about and flirting with every man in town. Wilbur then looked about and did not see Sue about anywhere. He was beginning to get worried. His upper lip twitched from the strain. Then he was beginning to get that pained expression on his face when he thought of where she had gone. Then he went outside with a heavy heart from thinking about it.

Out of the blue then he began to yell, "Space monster, monster, help me it's a space monster," Wilton yelled as he ran down the street in a keen pace. He felt threatened and in danger of his sanity and his life. It was following him again. He could feel its presence as a dangerous being in pursuit of him. t People turned and looked but they were not surprised. It was the kind of behavior that sometimes went on in the town. There were a few drunks there that sometimes had a bit too many. So they were not terribly upset and most of them ignored him.

After a while he seemed to come to his senses and quieted down. Then he swiftly walked towards the police station. "There's been a space monster following me," he said quietly to a desk clerk at the station.

"What are you talking about," the desk clerk asked him with little concern. She looked at him with cold eyes that did not really want the trouble from having to talk to him.

"It's a space monster," he said and tried to attract her interest. "It tried to attack me and followed me down the street," Wilton said in what he hoped was a calm manner.

"Well, I have not seen it so I can't help you very much," the clerk said in a rather snotty way.

Wilton then saw one of the officer's desks. It looked to contain a picture of his wife Sue Ellen. She looked so pretty in the picture she was smiling in from afar. "That's my wife he began screaming in the officer's direction. "It's my wife," I guess she is just a damn slut. What am I do do?," he whimpered at the office, "what am to do?" The officers all looked bemused.

In the meantime, Wilton was not thrilled with Sue Ellen's housekeeping. She had not done the dishes lately. He would grab her and drag her back in the house yelling that she had not done the dishes. He had also wanted her to sweep the floor. Wilton saw it as being part of his rights to tell Sue Ellen what to do constantly. It was not settling things out that well.

Sue had also enjoyed flirting with several different men. That included one of the policemen. "Sue you can come and live with me and you can have anything you want. I want you to stay here forever in my house," he said to her. He looked at her with excitement in his brown eyes. He had worn his uniform to go to work later. Wilton was wondering where she was at this time. "I'll get you a maid too," he said to her.

Sue Ellen then smiled at him. "I'll need to think about it," Sue Ellen said then. She knew that Wilton would be furious that she had not been there to fix his lunch. He liked to go back into the house to get refreshments. Wilton had a lot of different jobs that he did. He did carpentry and painting, etc. It did not make him a lot of money but it could support them.

Then in the autumn of the year his wife Sue Ellen had noticed that he was missing for quite a time. She waited for him to come back but he hadn't come back at all. She wondered what she would do. She needed to pay on their mortgage of course and he was nowhere to be found. She went on finding different other men to talk to.

One late night while she was talking to one of the guys she had met at her home Sue Ellen notice a very strange thing happening. A space saucer from outer space had landed slowly and silently. She was innerly thrilled but frightened of the idea that something could happen that wouldn't be good. It had landed quite near them. It was a glowing object of light. It seemed to radiate the light from within.

Wilton had come down the stairs of the flying saucer that then had appeared out of nowhere from the spaceship. He began then running toward their house and yelling for Sue Ellen. But he was stopped by something that was glowing in different colors of pink and orange etc. It had then taken him back into the spaceship. Wilton continued calling and asking for Sue Ellen until he was back in the spaceship.

"Sue Ellen, they're taking me back. Help me, help," he screamed into the black light and the nothingness of the countryside.

Sue Ellen did not know what to do. The flying saucer appeared to be moving. Wilton had been taken back into the spaceship. Her guy friend there gave her a protective hand on her shoulder. "Looks like he's in a lot of trouble Sue Ellen," he said to her in a very concerned manner."

"What the hell did he do?," asked Sue Ellen to her friend Roger and the night light there. "I need to pay the mortgage somehow and that nut is going on a flying saucer."

"What will we come to Sue," her companion said to her.

Sue Ellen looked a bit concerned. "What am I to do now?," she cried in a plaintive manner. They turned back into the house that was strangely quiet right then.

"I'll help you out with the money, it will be okay you'll see," Roger said to her. It was pretty cold out and they hurried back inside.

The flying saucer going back up into the sky had made absolutely no noise at all. It was all silent. Sue just could not believe what was happening. She stared at the saucer of light and seemed to not believe what was happening at all with a trouble look on her face.

In a future time to this the Starship Enterprise was contacted. They were told that an alien spaceship had captured a human and was planning on using him for some experiments. This was in the future that they had been thrown into by another bad case of space rays. The Enterprise people told them that they would try to help.

"Hello, this is the Starship Enterprise," Captain Kirk said to them in a calm way to try and calm the situation down. Wilton could be heard in the background screaming for help.

"We have the Earth man," said the space creature clearly. "We will send him back to Earth when we are done. He is needed to do several tests on, then we will return him to his rightful place," the alien repeated to him. "Is he a usual Earth person type?, he seems unusual. He has been taken to discover his unusual tendencies."

"He is probably more of less usual, maybe a little more troubled. He will not be hurt in this?," the captain asked him.

"No, he will not be hurt unless something drastic happens, we need to go now," the alien appeared to be not yielding to any other suggestions.

"Very well, thank you and please return him as soon as possible. They will be waiting for him back on Earth, thank you," Captain Kirk appeared a bit upset but helpful for a good ending. Spock stood in the background listening and appeared upset.

"They appear to be Sonagans," Spock said, "they would be very difficult to deal with. You can't really see them and they do color changing."

"Yes," the captain said sadly,"it's a very difficult situation.
