Twilight (NOTE: Insults Twi-hards a lot.)

1. In Twilight, the "romance" as they call it is just there from the beginning. In Percy Jackson and the Olympians (We'll call it PJO), the Percy-Annabeth relationship was apparent from the start, but built up until the kiss in Battle of The Labryrinth and eventually their relationship began in The Last Olympian.
2. In Battle Of The Labryrinth, Percy ran into Greek mythology's equivilent to vampires: the empousai. These were ugly creatures who had flaming hair, one goat leg, one metal leg, fangs, were deadly poisonous, and usually disguised themselves as mean cheerleaders. In Twilight, the Cullen vampires don't come out into the sun or else they'll sparkle and disguise themselves as emo kids who hate themselves. PJO beats Twilight in the coolness of vampires department.
3. In PJO, some of the good guys actually died. I cried during The Last Olympian. In Twilight, only the bad guys died. Everything can't be happy-happy Disney World ending!
4. PJO was actally well written. Rick Riordan had a lot of knowledge on Greek mythology, whereas Stephanie Meyer probably had to keep a thesaurus with her every time she made a sentence.
5. PJO has actually become a very successful series with a second series following it, The Heroes Of Olympus. Twilight is four books people dont bother reading for facts and just watch the crappier movies.
6. They may have screwed the book in the PJO movie, but at least it wasnt fluffy.
7. Many normal people bleed from sword cuts. No normal people bleed from paper cuts, especially ones from wrapping paper.
8. People actually read the Percy Jackson books for their info on it. Twi-hards watch the movie and don't bother with the book.
9. In Percy Jackson, some good guys are antagonistic, others were spies for the bad guys, and some die. In Twilight, good guys are good guys and bad guys are bad guys, no middleman.
10. Well, Percy Jackson had a plot.
11. Stephanie Meyer has copied much from other popular mythical creature books and shows (Harry Potter, Buffy). There is no plaigarism in PJO.
12. Vampires. Don't. Sparkle.

TrueHufflepuff I do not agree completely and totally with every reason, but I do find Percy Jackson better than Twilight. But Twilight vs. PJ&O? It's the first time I hear about that! lalaland21 No offense, but I found most of your arguments stupid. 1. I agree with this one. 2. The Twilight vampires don't disguise themselves as 'Emo kids.' It's true that they are shown to have no flaws though. Plus, Empousai are not technically vampires. 3. Excuse me? What about Bree? She was considered a good character. 4. Whether or not Twilight was well written is an opinion. And Stephanie Meyer just had a more advanced vocabulary than you do. I highly doubt that she used a thesaurus every page. 5. Twilight is more well known and has a larger fanbase than the Percy Jackson series does. Just because you, personally, like one book better than you like another doesn't make the book that you like more successful. and yes, believe it or not, people buy the books. You don't make it onto the best seller list by magic, you know. 6. What? 7. Actually, I have gotten paper cuts from wrapping paper, and yes, it did bleed. What do you mean, "No normal people bleed from paper cuts"? I don't recall ever getting a paper cut where it didn't bleed. 8. I am what some would consider a Twi-Hard, as are my friends. We all like the series for the books, and hate the movies. Like I said on the fifth argument, most of the Twilight fans like the books more than the movies. 9. Irena, Rosalie, Jessica... the list goes on and on. There are antagonistic good characters with flaws in Twilight, also. 10. Oh wonderful argument. Are you going to use any arguments to back that? The definition of a plot is, "A storyline. the plan, scheme, or main story of a literary or dramatic work, as a play, novel, or short story." In other words, the main idea. Does Twilight have a main idea? Yes? Then it has a plot. 11. Oh for god's sake. I have read the Percy Jackson series, and I noticed certain similarities between Harry Potter and PJO. For example, in the fourth book, the main character goes into a giant magical changing maze and battles many monsters, including a Sphinx. At the end of their adventure the Dark Lord Kronos returns to power. That's just ONE example. Trust me, Percy Jackson has plagiarism. 12. This. Argument. Sucks.

It is also compiled by the general thoughts of those who don't find Twilight very... well, good, such as myself and the above commentors stating that the article was "awesome". As for argument 11, I agree that Percy Jackson will have some similarities, but those in Twilight were much more prominent, GODS. The last names Black and Clearwater would seem much more familiar than the Battle Of The Labyrinth. A sphynx [i]is[/i] actually a monster in Greek mythology. The Labyrinth was the same Labyrinth that held the Minotaur under the castle at Knossos on the island Crete. They always battle mosters. Kronos din't technically "return to power", he became whole again and went inside Luke's body. And, I guess I have no right to say much about Twilight, I could barely sit through the second book. I had to force myself to read through the first one, anyway. As for argument 10, I do agree it has a "main idea", but how far did they expand it past Sappy Soap Opera? Argument 9, again, barely sat through New Moon. Argument 12. Oh, argument 12. The glittering Cullens have put a spurn on the names of vampires everywhere. Read Dracula, why don't you? There is not a trace of body glitter in the original Bram Stoker vampire novel. Argument 4, I say only one thing: NOBODY has THAT advanced language. An English teacher, maybe. A playwright, maybe. The author who's dreams brought about the black hole sucking in the minds of helpless teenage girls? No. Argument 5: Yes, Twilight has a large fanbase. But what I was trying to say is another thing compiled out of Anti's opinions. If you look around, plenty of people say that the opinions of certain Twi-Hards are barely based on the text (so-and-so is soo hotttt and other stuff like that.) Argument 6: If you've ever seen , you'd know a fluffy story is a story with a sappy plotline. Argument 2, well, they kinda do. And it is mentioned the empousai are like vampires. I think... Argument 3: Again, what did I say about barely sitting through New Moon? And argument 7: Well, wrapping paper is just so... floppy. And I say "normal people" meaning "those with average skin". Some people have thinner, fairer, more fragile skin than others. Thanks for agreeing with argument one. I do enjoy a building up of a romance instead of a flat-out romance.

-Grace- Hello, nice to meet you :) PJO looks really good, but I haven't read it yet. So please call me out if I misrepresent it! 1. That sounds neat, I like that kind of romance :D But to say that it's "better" than the romance in Twilight would be an opinion, not an objective reason :) 2. Again, opinion. One of my favourite things about Twilight is the vampires, I'd love to be able to have an unlimited amount of time to learn, live and experience, while also blending in with the rest of the human world :D Those are just our opinions, we can't use them to objectively determine whether Twilight is good or bad, or better/worse than other books :) 3. Why can't it be a Disney happy ending? :) "It's not realistic" isn't a valid response here, because (1) Twilight is a fantasy, and (2) remember that sometimes people actualy do get happy endings in real life (often, actually!), so it's not even particularly unrealistic. Except for, you know, the vampire part :) 4. Assuming that it actually is poorly written (which I probably shouldn't just give you, many people would argue that it isn't!) my response would be "so?" :) Literary quality is not something everyone values in a story. Personally, if it's at the level of good quality fan fiction it's good enough for me! :) 5. That's not true D: I for one didn't like the movies at all. Actually, I haven't met many Twilight fans who do. It's always exciting when the movie of a book you love comes out, and it's always fun to go and see it :) But they were just embarrassing movies -_- 6. I think for this point we can make a mutual agreement of "never judge a book by it's movie" :) I haven't watched the PJO movies, because I don't want to bias my opinion of the books when I eventually read them. I shall assume that you did Twilight the same curtesy, and that you are not one of the hundreds of others unfortunate enough to have seen the movies first :( 7. Ahahahahaa, wait, so one of the reasons you don't like the series is that a character bleeds when she gets a paper cut? ^_^ Never heard that one before! Again, pure opinion. I think it was ok, an injury that drew a small amount of blood, enough the set Jasper off, but not enough that the others couldn't handle it :) 8. How on earth would the books have become popular enough to be turned into movies if none of us had read them? ^_^ It's like that moment in Pirates Of The Caribbean when Jack is in prison, and another inmate tells him about The Black Pearl, and how she never leaves any survivors. Jack replies "No survivors? Then where do the stories come from I wonder?" ^_^ Even those people unfortunate enough to see the movies before reading the books often read the series after seeing the movies (although their opinion will have been tragically skewed). 9. That's similar to the happy ending thing; some people prefer it that way! I certainly wouldn't like Twilight as much if Carlisle turned Bella over to the Volturri D; An opinion is not the same as a reason for one thing being better than another, it's just an opinion :) 10. "Plot is a literary term for which the events that make up a story, particularly as they relate to one another in a pattern, a sequence, through cause and effect, or by coincidence." (Wikipedia). Twilight has a plot. Look, I can even link you to the plot summary: wiki/Twilight_(novel)#Plot_summary If you meant it doesn't have a good plot, well, I could counter that by saying I like the plot ^_^ Opinion. 11. Really, from Harry Potter? D: I haven't noticed, and I've read Harry Potter exactly 50 times (and counting! :D ), and Twilight 12 times. But maybe you're right. What are some examples? If Meyer hasn't been sued for plagiarism, I doubt it's that bad, though :) Have you read Eragon and LOTR? Those were very similar, and that didn't count as stealing ideas. You can never tell a completely original story, you're always taking inspiration from somehwere :) It becomes a problem when you're blatantly plagiarising someone elses idea, though :\ So if you have some examples, I'd be interesting to learn about them! 12. Correction: vampires. can't. sparkle. because. vampires. aren't. real. :)

And Rose59 also Cullengirl 100 not Everyone is going to agree with pjo but I do and most people do. So I bet u haven't even read the booooks, so how do you no which is better then what. Twilight fans are just going to have to live with fact that pjo kicks twilights ass! So take that information and stick it up your but!

cotix14 I agree with everything, I have an English teacher who's completely crazy and we all hate her. A lot. And even she said she read twilight and she didn't like it because the ending was so completely Disney, I like Disney but those are stories for kids, twilight is supposed to be by teenagers. Beside I heard people saying Bella is a role model. C'mon people! She became a zombie when Edward left! She jumped off a cliff, literally! Annabeth on the other hand was crushed when Luke left, but still she fought for what she believed even if she had to fight against the guy she considered family, or when Percy disappeared in the heroes of Olympus she searched for him! She didn't freaking give up! Ever! So really twilight is for angst teenagers and the only reason people say its better is because Robert pattison and Taylor Laurent are hot. Also if we count all te haters in twilight and take that from the fans I think te number would be about -3.

I agree with your point entirely and I myself have won many competitions for short stories and essays; so you can know that I am not just a Twilight hater and know what I am talking about. Your post may have a few grammatical errors but it is entirely true. Twilights plot is poor, under developed, and has no deeper meaning to it, not to mention it's a pathetic love story since the love portrayed is just a immature, fucked up, teenage girls fantasy that guys will get rid of their dignity and be her slave. I have read all the books and am disgusted to find that people actually think thats literature, of course I am relieved that Twilight actually has a smaller fanbase than freakin national best selling childrens books and young adults books, some which include the ones I do hold dear. Before a idiotic twilight fan posts something let me add this, there is a reason why no twilight fan has ever made it to the finals in writing competitions, it is because they do not know shit about literature

Twilight was also fairly successful, with 4 movies out. I haven't read Heroes of Olympus yet, btw, is it good? 7. I partially agree, however, it is possible to bleed from a paper cut. Bella didn't bleed as much as from a sword cut (which, in my opinion, wasn't the best comparison), but the scent of blood was enough for Jasper to lose control. 8. It depends on the person. I've met some PJO "fans" that have only seen the movies. And reading the books for information on the movie most likely means you preferred the movie, not the book. 11. In that manner, you could say PJO copied off of Greek Mythology.
