The summer heat bared down on Yato's back where he was plucking weeds in his client's yard. It was in the middle of the summer with the temperatures soaring into the triple digits. Yukine was in the far back of the yard under some shade taking a break, drinking from his water bottle that he had brought with him. Yato was wearing his usual getup, the bottoms of his jersey tracksuit, a white t-shirt, with the jacket tied around his waist. Lastly he was adorning his boots that he always wore with his tracksuit, along with his fluffy-fluff scarf hanging low around his neck. He had his hair bundled up into a ponytail, as his gloved hands pulled out more weeds from the dry ground. While Yukine opted for a pair of shorts, a simple thin muscle shirt, and flip flops.

"Hey how much longer are we going to be out here? It's really hot today." Yukine asked from his spot in the yard, glancing over to Yato that had his head down plucking more weeds.

Yato huffed, "Until we get all the weeds pulled. The client is a nice old lady that can't do it herself, and she wants a yard that will impress her son that's visiting tomorrow." He looked up at Yukine, but almost had to grab a hold of something when his eyesight became blurry. He swallowed a dry lump in his throat, as he continued, "So I'm going to stay here even if I have to do this all day. Her son hasn't visited her in 10 years, so she does deserve this much."

"Do I really have to be here with you? This job is sweet and all, but the heat is unbearable. It looks like you got this, so why do you need me?" Yukine groaned out, bored out of his mind. He goes to take another drink from his bottle when he discovers that he was out. He shakes the bottle upside down with another groan.

Yato shakes his head, picking up his own water bottle that he barely had touched in the hours he was under the sun. He shakely got up from the ground, and motioned it to Yukine. "Here, you can have mine. Our client told me if we ever need more refills to just go to her shed by the house, and get what we want out of the fridge or freezer."

"Are you sure? It looks like you haven't drank anything today." Yukine asked him, approaching him out from under the shade an eyebrow raised in question.

Yato nods, "Yeah. If I need something to drink I'll just go to the shed. But if we can avoid that, that will be great too." While speaking he noticed that black spots were dancing in his vision, and his head was spinning like being on a roller coaster. He felt tired, and his body felt overheated. His skin felt sticky, but at the same time he noticed that he wasn't sweating anymore. His body was aching all over like he had run a non-stop marathon, and heart was beating wildly in his chest. He could feel he was getting short of breath as well, but it was nothing that he couldn't handle. He's been in worse scenarios before multiple times over.

Yukine looked at him over before taking the water bottle, "Ok if you don't mind, but you're not looking so hot right now. Maybe you should take a break. After all you have been out in the sun more than me today." Yukine wouldn't admit it but he was worried for his master, even if he didn't like to openly speak it or express it.

Yato lightly waves his hand, "Nah I'll take one when I'm done. Just got a few more sections to do then we'll be done for the day. I'm fine." He gets a sneaky smirk on his face, to try to lighten how much panic was setting in. "Are you worried about me son?"

That instantly irritates and embarrasses the regalia as he turns away from Yato marching back to his spot. "No! Let's just get this done so we can go back to Kofuku's!"

Yato lets loose a light laugh as he kneels down, but almost collapses in on himself. Catching himself at the last second. For the next hour or two he and Yukine worked de-weeding the yard until the last weed was plucked from the ground. By that time the sun was going down, giving Yato some relief, but he felt twice as worse as he did before. He had told Yukine to go on ahead and buy them some cold drinks, he didn't want to take from the old woman from the start.

Yato leaned up against a tree sick to his stomach feeling like he had to puke. His breathing wasn't any better than before hours later, and his body hurt all over now. He knew he needed something to drink, but he was too dizzy to do much walking at the moment. A wave of nausea hits him like a ton of bricks as he heaves out the breakfast that he had eaten that morning, the sick mess falling on the freshly plucked yard. But just looking down at the mess made him sick once more, and before he knew it he had thrown up 4 times in a row.

He slowly gets up with the help of the tree, his fingers digging desperately into the bark. It was then he could hear Yukine calling for him down the street telling him he had gotten the drinks. He quickly composes himself, reminding himself that he's felt way worse in the past, near death a lot of times, and still pushed on. It took everything to stand up, and walk to the entrance of the yard, closing the gate behind himself. He wrote a quick note, and stuck it into the rails of the gate to remind the woman that they had finished the job, and the number to call when she came back from the next city over for the payment.

Yukine looked at him weird before handing him the drink. It felt like heaven against the gods burning skin as he popped the can, and chugged the whole thing in seconds. Feeling the cold rush run through his body like a whip only met a relishing escape from the heat trapped within his body for only a few seconds. He needed something more to drink, his body was screaming at him to drink something else, anything he could get his hands on. He knew he needed a good cold shower when he got to the house, but for now he was in need of something cold to drink. Almost falling over while on the way to Kofuku's house, Yukine kept glancing at Yato with a worried glance.

His master was acting strange, more strange than he's ever acted. He drank the drink he had brought him in seconds like he was starving to death for it. Yukine noticed upon looking closer at Yato, that the other's face was flushed red, and looked a bit on the dry side. The other didn't have that sheen against his skin that showed when someone was sweating, but he sure did reek of sweat. The god was breathing shallow but at a much faster rate than normal, and he was trying hard not to stagger and fall.

Yukine knew today that Hiyori was coming over, and she may bombard Yato with questions if she saw his condition. Although his master didn't look like he was in any condition to be doing much talking, much less any more work. They had both been out there in that yard for more than 8 hours, with Yato hardly dropping a drop of water during all of it. Yukine himself kept water with him at all times, as he was sure to fill his water bottle he had previously purchased while on a shopping trip with Hiyori the week before. The two of them just needed to get in a cool setting and everything would be alright once more.

The two of them finally make it to Kofuku's abode to see the doors open, and the fans running inside the parts of the house they could see. The shop was closed, but from Yukine's view he caught Daikoku carrying a frozen box into the house from one of the freezers. Yukine waved his hand running over to the older shinki with a smile, "Hey we're back from that job. You need help carrying anything inside?"

Daikoku shook his head, "Nah. I'm just carrying in some cold treats for everyone after dinner. It's too hot to run the shop today so there's nothing to be done out here." He looks over to Yato that was staggering towards the doors of the house, before glancing back at Yukine. "What's wrong with him? He doesn't look too hot."

Yukine huffs, "I don't know." He crosses his arms. "We were out there in that yard plucking weeds for over 8 hours today, and he hardly touched a drop of water. He's been acting like that since before we finished the job. I really don't know what's wrong with him, but I'm hoping once he cools down, gets something to eat, and drink he'll feel better."

"Yeah let's hope so. I can't believe he only charged 5 yen for that much work." Daikoku paused digging out a few ice cream bars and handed it to Yukine.

Confused, the boy looks back up at him, "What's this for?"

Daikoku gives him a smirk, "One for you, Yato, and Hiyori." He points to the house where Yato already disappeared inside of it already. "Hiyori is already here, she's in the kitchen finishing up dinner. You three deserve a treat."

"You just feel sorry for Yato, don't you? You're never this nice to him." Yukine remarked to the older shinki.

Daikoku just makes a gruff sound under his breath. "Believe it or not kid I do care for him even though he's a leech. He does work, even though it's not around here, and I do enjoy his company. You three have livened in the place up since he introduced you two to us. Kofuku is happy that he's back and not up to his old ways anymore." He motions his head for Yukine to follow, as he walked to the house. "I'm happy that he's not killing anymore, at least people. He's grown and you've grown since meeting each other. He may not be the richest god on the planet, and sure he's harped on for it constantly, but his intentions are good. I don't want anything bad to happen to him."

Yukine nods, "Yeah I feel the same. He can be a total pain in the ass, but he's a good master and friend. I don't want him to go back to his old ways. I want him to become a god of fortune and show his father, Nora up at his accomplishments." He looks up at the older shinki, "Hiyori wants the same out of him. Me and her have talked about it many times over study sessions upstairs." He huffs once more, "I just hope he's just exhausted, and he'll be fine by tonight."

Daikoku nods as they approach the house. "Yeah me too." They make it to the house, walking through the doors and looking throughout the living room setup. They didn't see Yato anywhere in the room. Though Kofuku was sitting at the table looking kind of down, like she couldn't focus on the orange and magazine she had sitting on the table in front of her.

Daikoku was quick to put the box in the freezer in the kitchen before making his way back to his lady. "Kofuku what's wrong?"

She gave him a whimpering shakely gaze, "It's Yatty. He walked past me like a zombie when I called his name. He wouldn't respond to either me or Yori."

"Where is he right now?" Daikoku asked her, in serious mode.

"In the bathroom. Hiyori went in there with him to make sure he was ok." Kofuku grabbed onto his shirt, "He didn't look right. I think he has blight again."

"No Yukine wouldn't do that to him." He turns his gaze to the direction of the bathroom. "I think it's something else."

"What else could it be besides blight?" His lady asked him desperately.

Before he could answer her question, all three heard a terrified shriek from Hiyori in the bathroom. "Yato!"
