Chapter 1: Rocket Crashers

(Eggman's Lab)

Eggman was working on yet another one of his inventions, but he was looking a little annoyed as he was working. Eventually, Orbot and Cubot entered the room and Orbot was carrying what looked like a breakfast tray with eggs, bacon, toast, and coffee on it.

Orbot- Good morning boss!

Eggman- Orbot, go away! I'm busy!

Orbot- Sorry, doctor. I just wanted to bring you breakfast and…

Eggman- Just put it down over there and I'll get to it later!

Orbot nervously placed the tray on a nearby table slowly backed away.

Cubot- Wow, the boss seems cranky today…

Eggman- And do you know why, you moronic hunk of junk?! It's because of that fat ass, King DeDeDe! First, he takes my flash drive without my permission, then it gets turned to yarn because of that other dimension we were thrown into which caused the data to get corrupted, and then Sonic and his pink alien friend leave us stranded in that yarn hell for who knows how long before they realized they left us behind!

Cubot- Oh right. I remember now. You were complaining about that when you threw a monkey wrench at my head.

Eggman- And I'll throw another if you don't shut the **** up and leave me to my work!

After that, Orbot and Cubot ran out as fast as they could. Eggman walked over to the tray Orbot left for him and took a quick sip of coffee.

Eggman- Hopefully, this little machine that DeDeDe told me about should help me get what I want. Victory over that pesky hedgehog. DeDeDe managed to describe this machine the Haltman Works Company tried to use on him well enough for me to understand what technology they used. And with my improvements to it, I might be able to match Sonic as his own game! (Slurp)…

After Eggman finished his coffee, his computer was making an alarm sound. When he rushed to the computer, it read something about an .EXE program.

Eggman- A .EXE program? Who cares about some .EXE file?

After Eggman closed out the warning, he then went back to work on the machine. But was that really such a good idea to ignore that warning?

(Tails' workshop at the Mystic Ruins)

Tails and Diddy Kong were huddled together as Tails was trying to fix something.

Diddy Kong- Is it done yet?

Tails- Be patient, Diddy! I'm working on fixing your little toy!

Diddy Kong- It's not a toy! It's an important tool!

Tails- Then you shouldn't have been playing with it like a toy, which is how you broke it to begin with. Almost there…and…got it!

Diddy Kong- Finally!

Then Diddy Kong took the object, revealing that Tails was working on his barrel rocket pack.

Diddy Kong- Alright! Now I can fly again!

Then Diddy Kong placed the rockets on his back and began flying around. During one swoop, he almost rammed into Tails, but Tails managed to duck.

Tails- Hey! Watch it, Diddy!

Standing nearby were Sonic and Donkey Kong.

Donkey Kong- You might want to heed Tails' words, Diddy. It was your carelessness that caused you to crash and break it in the first place.

Sonic- And I don't think Tails will be willing to fix it again if you break it right away after he just fixed it. Where did Diddy even get that jetpack anyway?

Donkey Kong- Not sure. I think he found it in the ancient ruins deep within Kongo Jungle.

Sonic- But it's still a wonder how a rocket jetpack made out of wooden barrels and vines could work like that?

Tails- Actually, there's an energy source inside that ridicules contraption that allows it to fly.

Donkey Kong- You know how that thing works?

Tails- I just repaired it for Diddy Kong. Of course I do since I recently saw its inner workings. But the strange thing is that's the same energy source that allows the Shooting Star airship that Kyrin gave to Mario to fly.

Before Donkey Kong or Sonic could say anything, a bright flash appeared in front of them. When the flash faded, there appeared to be an astral projection of Cranky Kong right in front of them. This also makes Diddy Kong stop flying around on his barrel rocket pack and land it, but without wrecking it or anything.

Diddy Kong- Cranky?

Sonic- Wait! How could that be Cranky Kong?! Cranky isn't a ghost and only you and Diddy came here to Mobius.

Cranky Kong- Because I'm using the power of the Crystal Coconut to project my spirit to you. But right now, we got some trouble on Kongo Jungle. King K. Rool is back and after the Crystal Coconut while you were fixing Diddy's stupid flying contraption! I can't hold him on my own for very long! I need you back here in Kongo Jungle asap!

Donkey Kong- You heard him, Diddy. We better head back home and deal with R. Rool. Hey Sonic, think you can lend me hand?

Sonic- Sure, why not? Things have been boring around Mobius lately. Egghead hasn't tried anything since that time Kirby and I got sucked into Patch Land. I could use the entertainment.

(Back at Eggman's lab)

Eggman was continuing to work on the machine by tightening the bolts on the inside of it. Once he was finished, he pulled out a washcloth and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

Eggman- There we go. Now all I need is a sample of Sonic's DNA and I can finally give Sonic a taste of his own medicine. HOHOHOHOHO!

Then Orbot and Cubot rushed into the room and startled Eggman.

Cubot- Hey Boss!

Eggman- Cubot, how many times have I told you not to startle me like that?!

Cubot- Uh…at least thirteen times.

Eggman's left eye twitched a bit at the response. Then he turned to look at Orbot.

Orbot- Right…we just got news that Sonic and Tails are heading for Kongo Jungle.

Eggman- Kongo Jungle? The island with all the monkeys?! Why would Sonic go there?

Cubot- Maybe it has something to do with Donkey Kong.

Orbot- That does make sense, since both of them are part of the Super Mario Brothers' Team.

Eggman- Just great! I need Sonic's DNA for this machine and he's just left Mobius. Fine, I'll just him there and snag some of his DNA while one that monkey infested shithole.

Then Eggman's computer gave off another warning like before.

Orbot- Doctor, it there a problem with your machine? The computer is reporting a corrupted program within it. Like a .EXE file.

Eggman- Not this again! That's nothing to worry about, Orbot.

Eggman closed out the warning like he did before and began moving towards his hovercraft.
