Annabeth woke up with a groan to the sound of her alarm. She sat up on the bed and stretched up her arms yawning. After almost trying to jump out of the bed her face fell when remembered that her legs aren't working since that day.
*Flashback*
That was a day before about 3 year ago. She was sitting and staring out of the window while her mother drives them home. After completing Annabeth's college years she finally started to work with her mother at her architecture company. Her mother, Athena, was the owner of that company so there were no issues with Annabeth joining the company but her mother had wanted to complete her degree properly before she starts her career.
"No matter how intelligent my daughter is, I want her to complete her college years." Her mother had told firmly but yet in a soft tone. So Annabeth had to go with that.
Now that it started to rain suddenly, Annabeth looked up to see her mother carefully driving through the vehicles. She has always loved her mother. They looked much alike with blonde hair and grey eyes but Annabeth was a bit shorter than her mother. And as to Annabeth, her mother always had that comforting aura around her.
"Mom if you want we can stay a while until the rain stops." She said after a while. Her mother looked at her for a second to smile before concentrating on the road. "No dear, I don't want you to miss your favorite documentary." She said still smiling.
That's why she loved her mother more than anything. After her father left them, (yeah he left them for a lady named Helen. She was a total witch after all) they were staying at their house together now for 12 years.
"Mom it's true that's my favorite and going to start in less than 10 minutes, I don't want us to get blind by the rain and crashed." It was heavily raining, the rain drops blurring the way.
Her mother looked at her again and said, "Sweetie, we are not going to get crashed and no, I can see the road properly." The next second proved it was all wrong. A blinding flash fell on them from the driver's side and then with a loud crashing sound it all went black.
When she woke up to hear that her legs were paralyzed and her mother died from the accident, her whole world turned upside down.
After about two or three months she started to walk with stretches and started her career at her mother's company as the owner of it. Since then her life get busier and slowly she recovered from her mother's death. But still when she remembered it silent tears found their way down her cheeks.
And now, again, she was silently crying on her bed. When she realized it she hurriedly stretched out to take her stretches and stood up with the help of it. After getting a shower with the practice of 3 years, she put on a t-shirt with a pair of black skinny jeans and headed to the kitchen to make a sandwich for the breakfast. As it was Saturday she was staying at home. After watching TV for an hour or so, she decided to go on a walk to the park. After packing some more sandwiches and a water bottle, she came out to the road and started to walk towards the park.
She was 24 years old and living alone in their old house. After her mother's death she refused to let anyone to stay with her and afterwards she got used to live alone.
Now that she had reached the park, she went towards a bench near the children's playing area. She always loved to watch them play and laugh so she used to come to the park on Saturdays. After getting halfway through the path a kid which seemed to be in second grade sprinted towards her while laughing and shouting behind him. He didn't saw her standing there causing him to bump in to her a little much fast. She instantly lost her balance and fell to the ground since her stretches slipped from her hands. But the boy didn't fell because obviously he wasn't paralyzed at all.
"Oh My God! Tyson what did you do?" She heard another voice and looked u to meet a pair of sea green eyes staring at her worriedly. "Hey, are you okay? Let me help you." A boy with sea green eyes and a mess of raven black hair offered his hand to her. She reached for it thankfully while balancing herself up. He instantly put his free hand around her waist as a support. "Tyson get that stretches." He told to the boy and the kid took them and handed them to Annabeth. "Thank you, sweetie." Annabeth took them and balanced herself. After being satisfied that she can stand up straight the other boy let go of her hand and waist.
"I'm sorry I didn't saw you. Percy was chasing after me and it's his fault." The kid or Tyson as to the other boy complained making Annabeth smile. "Hey! It wasn't my fault. You have to watch your way" Percy complained. "No it's ya Percy!" Tyson said again before smiling at Annabeth and running towards the swings laughing.
"Ah! Sorry about that accident." Percy looked at Annabeth and smiled.
"It's okay. Is that your…"
"My brother, Tyson. And I'm Percy Jackson."
"Annabeth, Annabeth Chase. "She smiled back
"Nice to meet you. What happened to your…um…"
"Legs? It was a car crash three years ago. I'm paralyzed since then."
"Ah! That's…I mean how are you managing your works alone?"
She laughed a bit before answering. "I'm used to it now. First it was pure torture but now it's okay I think."
Percy smiled. "So, wanna talk a bit?" he asked gesturing towards a bench. Annabeth nodded before noticing her bag on the floor and was about to grab it when Percy grabbed it for her.
"I'll take it, come." He started to walk towards the bench Annabeth following him. After settling down on the bench they talked about random things and got to know more about each other. They change phone numbers too and when returning home it was starting to get dark because they almost spent the whole day at park and Percy took her and Tyson for lunch too. After going home and changed into her PJ's she thought about Percy again. He has moved here this week from Long island and staying a few blocks away from Annabeth's house. His father has leaved him and her mom and now they live with their stepdad, Paul. Tyson is his step-brother but obviously he loves him as his own brother. He is 25 years old which means he is a year old than Annabeth.
She had also told him everything about her dad also leaving them, her mother's death and her life afterwards.
After getting her dinner and watching the TV for some time she went to bed.
