Seth was surprised to find the door unlocked. Steffi shouldn't be home. She had to work late today since they were shooting a commercial for a shampoo company. She wasn't an actress. She worked for a company shooting commercials, and this shampoo company had been out too late but with the offer of paying extra to get it done in time. They had taken the task, and she would have to work late today because of it.
"Steffi?" He called.
He walked into the house and found her standing on the floor in the living room. She was smirking at him in a way that should be seductive but it made the hair on his body stand up. Something felt off and he couldn't put his finger on it.
"Are you alright?" He asked.
"I'm great now that you're home," she answered.
Something about her voice put him off too. It was as if she was trying to sound like Steffi without succeeding. It didn't make sense at first. He blinked at the woman in front of him that looked like his girlfriend but also like a stranger at the same time. It suddenly dawned on him what was wrong. She crossed the floor, wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. She tried her hardest to pry his lips open but he refused. Instead he grabbed her arms hard and pushed her away. He kept holding on to her arms and stared her down.
"Not going to happen, Bayley," he said.
Sometimes he hated that Steffi was a twin, and that they looked so alike. The only difference had been the hair. Bayley had long hair. Or used to have long hair. She had cut it in the same hairstyle as Steffi.
"What?" Bayley smirked. "You can't even tell the difference."
"I can tell," he said.
"Come on, she won't know. We don't have to tell her. I won't even mind if you call me Steffi in bed," she said.
"Get your shit together or get the fuck out of my house!" He growled.
"Your house?" She raised her eyebrows. "As far as I know, you and Steffi, that is my twin sister by the way in case you forgot, you own this house together. I'm welcome here. You can't kick me out. She won't allow it."
He let go of her arms and took a couple of steps backwards to put some distance between them. He wasn't sure if she was right or not. They might be twins but Steffi had once said that she didn't always like her sister. He did know he couldn't just kick out Bayley without at least talking to Steffi first.
"What are you even doing here?" He asked. "And how did you get in?"
"Steffi gave me the key. It's almost like she wants this thing to happen between us," she said.
He crossed his arms and gave her a cold look.
"Never in a million years," he said.
"Fine. You're boring anyway," she said.
She rolled her eyes at him before walking towards him. He uncrossed his arms, ready to push her away again, but she just chuckled and walked past him. She was aiming for the kitchen. He ran a hand through his hair in frustration as soon as she was out of sight. He heard her going through their fridge and cabinets. He didn't care what she was searching for as long as she didn't end up touching him again.
"I'm making a drink!" She yelled. "Do you want one too?"
"No!" He yelled back.
The last thing he needed was to get drunk around her. She would undoubtedly try something again. He always had a feeling she was jealous of the relationship between him and her sister. Now he had proof. Only problem was that Steffi wasn't here to witness it. He could only hope she would believe him over her own twin.
"What do you want then?" She yelled.
He figured he wouldn't get her off his back, and he was thirsty.
"Just a glass of coke!" He yelled back.
He heard her open the fridge again. She took out the coke and poured a glass for him. She came walking back shortly after with a glass of coke and a glass of white wine. She handed him the glass of coke and smirked before taking a sip of her wine.
"I hope you don't mind," he said.
"It's Steffi's wine. I think she was gonna use it for cooking," he said.
"It was already open," she said.
"I know. She had a glass two days ago. She didn't like the taste of it though," he said.
"She only has good taste in men apparently," she smirked again.
He tensed up again. This woman was not letting it go. She laughed at him and sat down on an arm chair. He chose the couch since that would leave them with the coffee table between them.
"Relax, loverboy, I'm not a masochist. I'm not gonna be told no twice. That's just pathetic," she said.
He nodded at her. At least she understood now that she would never have a chance. He put the glass to his lips and emptied half of it in one go. He looked over at her again. She was smiling in a weird way. Almost sinister. He started feeling weird. He looked down at the glass in his hand and over to her again. She didn't say anything. He took out his phone and dialed Steffi's number. For some reason he really needed to hear her voice right now. He could only hope she had a break from filming and would answer.
"Hi, honey," she said.
"Steffi!" He blurted out.
His voice sounded weird. Kind of sleepy sounding. He did feel tired all of the sudden.
"Seth?" She asked. "You sound weird. Are you okay?"
"I don't know," he answered. "Bayley's here."
"Shit, I forgot to tell you she would stop by. She has a rodent infestation in her house so she needed a place to stay while the experts handle it," she said.
He looked over at Bayley who kept that sinister smile on her face. She looked like a predatory animal waiting to strike.
"Isn't she behaving?" Steffi joked.
"She... She..." Seth mumbled.
"Seth? What's wrong?" She asked.
"Come home, please. I need you," he begged.
"I'll be home as soon as I can," she said. "Crap, they're calling my name. I gotta go. Love you."
She hung up. He looked up defeated at Bayley.
"Rodents?" He asked lowly.
"I had to tell her something," she shrugged. "When she said you would be home alone today, I had to try my luck."
He tried pushing himself up from the couch but he fell down on his knees on the floor. Something was clearly wrong. She got up from the chair and walked over to help him up.
"Don't touch me!" He hissed.
"Relax, loverboy," she chuckled. "You're tired. Let me help you to bed."
"What did you do to me? What was in the coke?" He whimpered.
"Nothing serious. You'll wake up in a couple of hours. Meanwhile I'm gonna make sure you're okay," she said.
She had to almost drag him into bed. He wanted to fight her but he couldn't. He felt the softness of the bed as he landed on his back. He couldn't open his eyes anymore. He was too tired. He felt hands on him. Hands opening his belt.
"Please!" He whimpered.
"Just sleep, Seth," she said. "I'm gonna take real good care of you."
He heard the zipper of his jeans being pulled down, and then everything went black.
