Introduction:

June 21st, 1983

It was 11:30 at night. It was raining and thundering/lightning in the state of Oklahoma. A lone woman in a hooded raincoat was running in the rain, carrying a crying infant girl wrapped in a soft blanket shielding the child from the rain. That woman was Jack Sloane.

"Shhh." trying to calm the baby before continuing on her journey. She was 16 years old who got pregnant by a high school jock at a drunken party. Not wanting her parents to find out about it, she went to stay at a friend's house for the duration of the pregnancy.

After nine months, she gave birth to a baby girl. But she knew that her parents would never accept the little girl as their grandchild and will be furious with her, so after a few days, Jack left her friend's house with her baby to find a good home for her only child.

She came across a lovely farm house, thinking this is as good of a home as any other, Jack made her way towards the house. Upon entering the yard, she saw a play house, meaning that they have kids as well.

Quietly going up the stairs, Jack carefully placed the basket carrying her baby down on the welcome mat in front of the door. She let down her hood now that she was out of the rain, "I'll always love you my dear Ellie. Everything will be okay." she whispered as a few tears went down the woman's face as she leaned and kissed the child on the head while leaving a note pinned to the baby's outfit.

Jack then sniffed and knocked on the door before running away and disappearing into the night. Not knowing if her daughter was taken in by the family.

Ever since that night, her parents never knew and she continued her life. Forever regretting giving away her baby.

Chapter: 1

It was a sunny day in Washington DC, the sun was shiny and everyone was happy. Down at the navy yard at NCIS, the elevator doors opened and out stepped a young blonde woman; she was wearing black jeans, black boots, a white t-shirt and blue jean jacket. That person was Eleanor Bishop. Former NSA analyst who was offered the job of an agent four years ago by Gibbs himself. She removed her sunglasses, "Good morning McGee." She greeted with a smile as she placed her backpack down by her desk, she sat down and started to work on paperwork.

"Good morning Bishop." McGee replied as he typed at his computer.

Then Bishop noticed one of their agents not there, "Hey, where's Torres?" she asked as McGee looked up at the agent's desk. "I don't know." he said as he looked at his watch. "He's running late." he said and a few minutes later the elevator opened and Nick Torres walked out.

"Damn D.C traffic." he said as he tossed his bag at his desk and muttered something in spanish. "What about the grey Nissan that cut you off?" she asked as she knew what he said in spanish as she can speak it as well.

Torres sighs, "I was driving and this guy cut me off while running a red light at the same time. I had to slam on my brakes to keep from crashing into him. Wait till I get my hands on…." he didn't finish the sentence because Gibbs walked in.

"Hands on who Torres?" he asked as he stopped as the agent didn't say anything as Gibbs let out a smirk as he went to his desk and got out his badge, gun, and phone.

"Grab your gear." he commanded as he walked out of the bullpen with his agents grabbing their guns and gear following him out towards the elevator.

The Crime Scene

When they arrived, their scene was in an apartment building. The NCIS rig slowed to a stop as they all got out and went to the back for their gears. Then proceed towards the scene. Walking under the tape they entered the building.

Turns out it was in the lobby where they found the body of a petty officer in his dress blues. Gibbs approached his team, "Torres, Photos. Bishop, bag n tag. McGee witness statements." he ordered as they all got to work on their assigned tasks.

"Okay our victim's name is Angus Fletcher. Stationed on the USS Uring." McGee informed after running his prints through the database.

A few hours later, after evidence was bag-n-tag, photos of the scene were taken, and witness statements were taken the team was getting ready to leave the scene. After getting in the rig and starting up the engine, Ellie put the truck into gear and began to drive. "Have you ever handled a rig before?" Torres asked, a little afraid of her driving.

Eleanor looked at Torres like he grew a second head, "I grew up on a farm. I drove a tractor. I drove an 18-wheeler. I am pretty sure I can drive the rig." she replied with a smile.

NCIS Headquarters

Eleanor Bishop was at her computer bringing up everything about their victim. "What do you got?" Gibbs asked as he walked in, the agents getting out their seats while Ellie clicked on the clicker. "The victim's name is Vanessa Garcia, 23 and is stationed on the USS Uring that's docked in Norfolk." she reported as McGee took the clicker from her.

"I looked into her phone records and didn't find anything that would determine why she was killed." he said as he clicked and a photo of their victim popped up. Nick comes running in as McGee tosses him the clicker.

Nick caught it, "I went through her financials and…." he was interrupted by a phone ringing. Ellie heard it was hers and slipped her phone from her back pocket to look at the caller ID. "Uh, it's mom. Gibbs mind is I…." she was gonna ask to step away but Gibbs already nodded, "Go. Make it short." he said as she walked away answering the phone.

"I went through her finances and didn't find anything suspicious." he said watching Bishop talk on the phone, concerned for his partner's look she was now wearing that indicates that the call wasn't good.

Before Gibbs could say anything, Bishop ran out of the bulpen. The team was confused and Nick looked at Gibbs silently asking to go check on Bishop, as Gibbs nodded his head as he walked out of the bullpen and went where she usually goes when she wants to be alone. The stairwell.

East Stairwell

Eleanor Bishop was sitting on the steps in the stairwell head in her hands as she silently cried. She had just been told that she was adopted. That she wasn't really a Bishop. Who was she? She didn't know who she was now. She was brought out of her thoughts when someone called her name, "Ellie?" she looked up behind her to see Torres standing at the top of the stairwell. She can imagine she had tears down her face, "Torres? W...What are you doing here?" she asked, wiping the tears hoping he didn't see her.

Nick came down a few stairs and sat down beside her, "I came to check on you." he said and when she didn't say anything he decided to ask, "B, tell me what's going on?" he gently asked hoping she would tell him the problem.

It was a few minutes later and just when he thought she wasn't gonna say anything, "I….um…..that was my mom back in Oaklahoma." she started to say as Nick nodded in encouragement for her to go on, "She…..uh, it turns out I...I'm adopted." she whispered the last part as fresh tears made their way down her face.

Nick was stunned, "What?" he asked as Bishop nodded. "All this time, my life has been nothing but a lie." she said as she closed her eyes and lowered her head back into her hands. Nick instantly wrapped her in his arms as she wrapped her arms around him and cried on his shoulder, with him comforting her. Adopted. He couldn't believe it. Who in their right mind would abandon someone so sweet and kind like Ellie.

"Shhh, it's gonna be okay Ellie." he whispered as he tightened his arms around her. After a few minutes Bishop calmed down and let go as she looked at him, "Thank you, you didn't have to come here." she said as she wiped her tears.

"Hey." he said, grabbing her hand, "I'm here. Okay? I'm here because I care for you. You're my partner." he said as the Bishop let out a chuckle. She then took a deep breath and her smile vanished, "I don't know who I am anymore." she confessed as Nick sigh thinking the same thing while he was undercover all those years.

Nick gave her hand a squeeze, "Want me to leave you for a few minutes?" he asked as she nodded. He was getting up when she tugged on his hand and he looked down to see her looking at him with red eyes, "Can…..can you not tell them? Just…..keep it between us? I don't want them to know. Not yet." she said as Nick nodded.

"Anything for you." he replied with a smile as he walked up the stairs and left her alone. If he could, he would take her pain away. Hell, he would even move heaven and earth for her. He thought as he walked out of the stairwell.
